Late on a friday afternoon this clown turned up , did a LIVE 63 amp disconnect /re-connect of the mains in from the meter (its a tenement flat) and proceeded to bodge a new rcd board into place , however , one of the bedroom ring mains was dead . Anyways im busily cleaning the grout in the kitchen when the dodgey spark and flat owner Gale came into the kitchen and spread out several lines of cocain , and snorted away. He then went back to the box , pulled the whole lot out from the wall and saw a little wire that had been a partial on the old board and the copper was brittle , took a hammer to the plaster untill he found the copper was soft in the cable , connected it like the lights in the video there with chop block and insulation tape , put it all back on the wall , had another line and left . So if there's a big fire above Droothy Neighbours pub in Edinburgh then look in the hallway of the flat above on the 2nd floor , i bet it starts in the lath+plaster wall.

I also only fit big in-line timer fans these days, ironically usually upgrading a refurb bathroom following a mold and damp survey. Higher CFM, noise relocated to the loft - Works!!
I'd be looking at fitting a new consumer unit and relocate it above the meter box, along with those other items like doorbell transformer and RCD as they are not permitted in the DNO meter box

All this and you have not even has a look at the plumbing or structure they may have damaged getting the drainage for the shower outside etc...
Some dodgy work indeed, here in the Republic we always fit a fire cuff above the fan to ensure fire rating of the ceiling is not impaired and naturally fire rated lights ☘️☘️☘️
People here in N.Ireland used to criticise the South's installation work which is completely unfounded. The South is more ahead and advanced with their standards in many ways. U.K. could learn a thing or two and bring things up to date.
Props for pursuing the reporting etc, but unfortunately if they are ltd they’ll likely just dissolve the company, vanish and re-incorporate elsewhere 😩 If they are ltd, check the business on companies house and look for the directors correspondence address. Good chance it’ll just be an accountants or formation agent, but you may get lucky with a residential address where you can drop a letter threatening court action etc 👍🏻
There is a worst case . They have a word with who reported them at 3 am . Been there done that I would never bother with a report as you are dealing with VERMIN
Those lights are for kitchen cupboards. Bet they aren't IP rated. And the connector blocks certainly aren't ok, they need to be in an enclosure, as do the wagos which you're using.
Pulling very humid air and dumping that in the loft will result in water forming on anything below the dew point. Given she has insulation the loft will be cold in the winter it’s likely to be like a rain forest. Leaving that for any length of time and you’ll be looking at structural damage. Cowboys.
I would be more concerned after the electrics that the extractor is venting into the roof and doesn't have the correct tubing to vent to outside so the roof will get wet and then sweat and before she realises it she needs a new roof 😡
Nick, a tiny comment on the way you installed the Wago box. The CPC wago should be left floating and not slotted in (however tempting). You'll notice there are two 'fins' that run down each inner side that are designed to fit a 5-way wago for use as the CPC connector. This is so that if a cable is pulled the CPC is the last cable to disconnect.
Well done putting that mess right , and reporting the criminals I hope you take them to the cleaners, I think you should name and shame them far and wide. One point about the lights would quite wire switch and load not of been a better option instead of wago boxes. Just an idea . Your mother i law must be so angry with them shisters . But happy she has a son in law like that knows what he’s doing. Thank you for keeping us updated on this.👍
Thats horrendous! Good work sorting it out. While we can debate technicalities in industry we need to remember some absolute rubbish goes on every single day. Great video guys
The biggest problem is that there isnt a constant public education on building regs, especially when it comes to Part p. Its been over 20 years now. Still homeowners havent still got a clue. Which in turn allows for criminal scam artists to call them selfs trade people. Dick Turpin rides again.
Never mind part P - why didn't they point out that her insulation and airtightness levels are criminally poor and it'll be costing a fortune in wasted heat, never mind the risk to the building structure from wet bathroom air. The building trade in general in the UK (with the notable exception of most of the youtubers, who do actually take some care) has woefully low standards.
Good luck Nick.. I'm an niceic spark .. I've tried reporting this stuff before and got no where. Reporting to building regs .. even reporting a niceic approved contractor to the niceic .. nothing ever happened. The niceic contractor is still registered and working locally .. he even issued a completely fraudulent installation certificate ... so yeh .. Good luck .. keep us informed on how it goes.
I'm a consumer and had the same experience with NICEIC. Legitmate complaint backed with EICR that included photographs. NICEIC turned up and said... no issues. Sent an official report with lots of basic typo's (including surname of the inspector ironically). Complaint escalated and I asked for representation from the people who wrote the EICR. NICEIC turned up again and agreed serious faults... but as it's a new build they blamed the builder (even though an NICEIC registered electrician signed it off). The NICEIC membership fee effectively means the system works in reverse - protecting cowboy electricians over consumers.
@@tonygward08 .. well that depends on the faults I guess and if the builder could have any responsibility. not enough info to tell.. but on another track.. I've also had a complaint about my work that the niceic chased me up on .. after another niceic electrician had worked there..and they chased me even though the customer hadn't told me about it ..hadn't told them about the other electrician visiting .. didn't follow their own complaints procedure at all .. told me they had to give the customer their support..(against their own complaints procedure)really generally harassed me ... but I still have to say that on balance when I look at many many eicrs do e by other electricians .. the niceic.ones generally do a better.job than nappit or the others.. and I'm still a member. Good luck for the future.. 👍🏼
Every accessory requires an earth, if it's required or not. Personally my first step would be to name them, which I always do, I don't mind a legal fight if it goes that far, which it never does. The only weapon you have, is not to pay the final payment, because none of the systems in place will be interested, speaking from experience. They may say they have already sacked the fitter because they discovered he was crap, these firms like that one.
I once bought a new British demountable campervan which had a multitude of unsafe faults: absent sealant, faulty electrical wiring, bad plumbing. I took photos and video and fixed it all. I sued the manufacturer for the cost of repairs. I didn't win, because in the UK, you have to give the supplier the opportunity to rectify faults. As they were incompetent, I didn't want them near it. However, the judge was very sympathetic and berated the supplier - and I did win some money back due to mis-invoicing (btw, they had a fake VAT number). More recently, I bought a £12k home heating and water heating system from Fischer UK. Their installers were dreadful. Afterwards, I had to fix the wiring, reprogram the non-working water heater and repair the damage to my airing cupboard. One of the thermostats they supplied looked like it had rattled around in their van for months. They were completely unapologetic and it took a lot of effort to get them to supply a replacement stat. They wanted to visit to remedy the mistakes, but like you, I don't want such cowboys ever in my house again.
I can’t understand why they didn’t use wago fittings and boxes anyway - ok they are a bit dearer, but they are so easy to use and quicker - overall it would’ve saved them money to do it properly. I bet those LED downlighters will fail before long - unbranded cheapos from eBay.
Quality video it’s good to see some industry big players calling out this crap , the more times this kind of stuff is called out the better the industry will get and it’s good to see nick bundy making calling out shit work cool
Welcome in Multi Traders world.. Plumber Multi, Carpenter Multi, Bathroom fitters etc.. Not long ago I installed Air Source Heat Pump for customer, I offered to re pipe the bathrooms they refused cause The carpenter on site was a Tiler, Electrician, Plumber, Bathroom Fitter and also a Kitchen fitter. They nearly jumped on me when I nicely asked do not touch the heating in any case cause I will refuse the warranty. Shocking work I hope you get paid for all the work!!
Moved into a new house and the shower room fan was left like that the amount of condensation I stumbled across.Aways use inline fans solid ducting and strapped securely to timber that plastic crap squashes and the ribs trap water.
Not just a cert needs to be issued but the works needs to be notified to the building control too as the fan is in a notifiable zone. 1st time I’ve seen one of your videos cus it just came up so not sure how long you’ve been doing this for but when doing the consumer unit I’d test the whole whose 1st to ensure there’s no faults which would start tripping the RCBO’s. Good luck
Fuse box inside a Meter enclosure that was a definite no no not allowed by south east electricity board in kent wouldnt even allow a switch fuse isolator for a sub main feed.
there is no way i would let anyone who is not a qualified electrician mess with so much as a plug in my house... that is like asking a bricklayer to install a gas boiler....
If they can't even notice that the way the extractor was fitted off centre, and thats a likely reason for it being noisy, then how could you trust them to install a bathroom correctly, making sure the plumbing is good, shower tray doesn't leak etc.Not wanting to make you a bag of nerves, but Every time you go back for a visit, just have a look round, and if there's something that doesn't look right, as your plumber mate or instagram even. Those that pride on doing a good job, will be full of enthusiasm to help, to show they know how to do things right.
Part of me would be tempted to check everything else (e.g. under the shower tray for loose pipes and crap) they clearly don't care about doing a good job.
One plus thing. .the bathroom looks pretty tidy....So why not employ a spark , and leave a safe job , and a good reputation ...( What about the previous customers ) ?
Fair play for reporting them, but I'll tell you how this will conclude. Building control/council won't be interested that it wasnt carried out by a registered installer-what they will do is tell your inlaws to get it tested by someone who is. Seen this before, she'll probably get offered a token discount by the installation company. Its pathetic.
certs are to have legal proof that someone did the "no idiotic easily preventable mistakes left behind" checks. :/ Even a pro will have faulty wago, faulty terminal block, or accidental scraping the wire in the ceiling against sharp objects and exposing its insulator moment. The cert is expensive because a fire is way, way more expensive. So is the tool that checks.
I thought that although the lights are class 2 & dont require an earth, the cable still has to be mechanically earthed throughout!! An rcd is a must after they fitted the lights & especially the mirror, i would have clipped them little fireproof boxes over the choc blocks they used and put a new inline fan back , screwed to the joists in loft with grommets as a dampener for sound.
Is this bathroom masters by any chance? We have them coming in Feb next year to do our bathroom. Quoted 6K and trimmings and fittings look similar to what we are having but in black trim. They do a “package” of walls/floors/LED ceiling. If so, could you maybe give me some pointers on what to ask about if there fitters are regulated to fit electrics. Were in a new build so dont want electrics messing up when then there correctly set. If that all makes sense. Appreciate a reply 👍🏼
Depends what was there before, if they've added or changed a circuit yes it needs to be tested, he obviously knows there weren't downlights before the job, so a circuit must have been extended. If someone changed previous downlights to new ones and they were competent , it should technically be ok, but they would hopefully notice no cpc
Mmmm... What a mess :(( Those LEd lights are for display cabinets. Or, maybe for kitchen counters!! Either way, they are NOT designed for bathrooms & certainly are NOT fire-rated :((
Can I just point out that proper bathroom fitters are still tiling. These panels are designed and sold to people who can't fitted bathrooms but like to charge. I come across this on every panel fitted bathroom plus some horrendous work.
And…..who is really to blame for jobs carried out like this? The bathroom fitters? The customers that continue to seek out the cheapest trade workers out there? The trade workers that continue to put there day rates up?
One: LED Driver from 240 to 12v lights is what I would do. LED Drivers need enough space for ventilation and can be 4 channel so... TWO: those led tapes behind the mirror? cheap and not even IP65/IP67 for a start and best to be diffused. Also 60 per metre but preferably 144 in channels with diffusers around the edge. NEVER out normal led tape in a bathroom when it needs to be waterproof or rating IP65/67. I would fit IP67 which covers both led side and back side. So yeah, when using led tape near steam/water, use IP67 as best option such as in a bathroom even if in a channel with diffuser. Might want to mention, current regulation for insulation now is 270mm or 300mm which that insulation wasn't. Just noticing is all. Something you may want to mention.
Your in-laws should report the bathroom fitters to the local building control. What CPS did the bathroom fittings claim to belong too? In short the fitters did not comply with BS7671 thus this is a criminaly negligent install so could also be reported to HSE.
That knocked over lamp- is it still there? I find it lovely, I´d like to buy it. The colour is beautiful and the shade seems still okay. I´d like to save and use it. Can we make that happen? Kind Regards

You should invoice them for your time and materials in rectifying their bad and dangerous workmanship!
All this and you have not even has a look at the plumbing or structure they may have damaged getting the drainage for the shower outside etc...
Some dodgy work indeed, here in the Republic we always fit a fire cuff above the fan to ensure fire rating of the ceiling is not impaired and naturally fire rated lights ☘️☘️☘️
interesting, thanks
No way are they using a personal address when they are leaving work like this
There is a worst case . They have a word with who reported them at 3 am . Been there done that I would never bother with a report as you are dealing with VERMIN
Nick the Mirror back might be stuck but the actual mirror front should just be held in the back box via some small grub screws mate.👍
nice vlog, that mirror was a nightmare and I can't believe the extractor. No gloves or mask for the yellow insulation - braver than I am!
Those lights are for kitchen cupboards. Bet they aren't IP rated. And the connector blocks certainly aren't ok, they need to be in an enclosure, as do the wagos which you're using.
Love your youngster in the background - sounds just like my son when I am trying to get jobs done and he wants to join me up the ladder!
Surprising how many off the old houses still have the domino fuse boards , we have had 3 houses in 2 year's still on the old indian rubber wiring !
This is so that if a cable is pulled the CPC is the last cable to disconnect.
i much prefer rigid duct wherever possible, so do the building regs. great video, thanks
Stop pulling that lovely bathroom apart 😂
naa destroy it! 😂😂😂
Crap they didn't even fit the ducting, think i could have done a better job and I'm not a spark😂
Do you have to pay to be registered by any chance?
What ?....even those accessories that are double insulated or use isolation transformers ?
@@keithpearson7539 yep it's in the regs
@@keithpearson7539I’d say it’s good practice to.bring the earth to any class 2 to allow testing
Good luck with bringing them to account.
I use the quickwire units on lighting now - they are a bit seared but much smaller than the wago boxes and so much quicker
Quality video it’s good to see some industry big players calling out this crap , the more times this kind of stuff is called out the better the industry will get and it’s good to see nick bundy making calling out shit work cool
industry big players hahahah

Welcome in Multi Traders world.. Plumber Multi, Carpenter Multi, Bathroom fitters etc.. Not long ago I installed Air Source Heat Pump for customer, I offered to re pipe the bathrooms they refused cause The carpenter on site was a Tiler, Electrician, Plumber, Bathroom Fitter and also a Kitchen fitter. They nearly jumped on me when I nicely asked do not touch the heating in any case cause I will refuse the warranty. Shocking work I hope you get paid for all the work!!
How to touch it? That’s discrimination
Moved into a new house and the shower room fan was left like that the amount of condensation I stumbled across.Aways use inline fans solid ducting and strapped securely to timber that plastic crap squashes and the ribs trap water.
Those lights look like the cheap Amazon shallow spots. I’ve only seen them a couple of times. Shocking install.
Keen to see the outcome to get these cowboys 😂 should definitely front them to get a proper sparky in to do the work
Funniest thing is silicone everything up yep that is maintainable now
If they can't even notice that the way the extractor was fitted off centre, and thats a likely reason for it being noisy, then how could you trust them to install a bathroom correctly, making sure the plumbing is good, shower tray doesn't leak etc.Not wanting to make you a bag of nerves, but Every time you go back for a visit, just have a look round, and if there's something that doesn't look right, as your plumber mate or instagram even. Those that pride on doing a good job, will be full of enthusiasm to help, to show they know how to do things right.
Should the bathroom extractor fan have an isolation switch? Or that not a requirement?
there's some scary looking cracks through the breeze blocks at the end of the video
Profit
Pay attention... Because this is generally what you will get for going with the cheapest quote people!!!
I'm assuming they got their LV and ELV lights confused. Which means they are not trained let alone licensed.
*pulls cables out ceiling* "this is the finish" 😂
certs are to have legal proof that someone did the "no idiotic easily preventable mistakes left behind" checks. :/
Even a pro will have faulty wago, faulty terminal block, or accidental scraping the wire in the ceiling against sharp objects and exposing its insulator moment. The cert is expensive because a fire is way, way more expensive. So is the tool that checks.
You are clearly the best builder in the world
You don't need wire cutters the fan blade wheel do the job😢
I thought that although the lights are class 2 & dont require an earth, the cable still has to be mechanically earthed throughout!!
An rcd is a must after they fitted the lights & especially the mirror, i would have clipped them little fireproof boxes over the choc blocks they used and put a new inline fan back , screwed to the joists in loft with grommets as a dampener for sound.
Just a thought. You are a sparky but what about the plumbing? If the electrics are so bad I wouldn't have much faith in the pipework.
the garage is falling to bits, too!
Don’t see the problem it’s all above the waterline 🤷🏻♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Having to rework every job for a crew I worked with I understand your frustration.
I didn't know you can use wardrobe/Cupboard lights.. for a bathroom..!
1:11 top tip, some of us have no idea if you're genuinely asking or being snarky; do you need a cert or not?!? We don't know.
Depends what was there before, if they've added or changed a circuit yes it needs to be tested, he obviously knows there weren't downlights before the job, so a circuit must have been extended. If someone changed previous downlights to new ones and they were competent , it should technically be ok, but they would hopefully notice no cpc
Mmmm...
What a mess :((
Those LEd lights are for display cabinets. Or, maybe for kitchen counters!!
Either way, they are NOT designed for bathrooms & certainly are NOT fire-rated :((
power of media
That bathroom is horrendous. Looks like a portacabin
Sadly as a chippy I employed "proper" sparks in to do a kitchen first fix. There work was a lot worse that this
Can I just point out that proper bathroom fitters are still tiling. These panels are designed and sold to people who can't fitted bathrooms but like to charge. I come across this on every panel fitted bathroom plus some horrendous work.
Can I point out I’m a bathroom fitter and I don’t get a choice in what the customer wants as it’s there personal choice not yours fool
Real electricians don't use electrical tape on joints
That's right, we use duct tape. Don't want to make it easy for the next spark who comes along...
Nonsense. A BP connector should have tape, and they’re used everywhere.
why not use electrical tape as i think its in the name ELECTRICAL
do you think he was pissed of cause he didnt get the job nothing worse than a super electrician slagging of other peoples work
@@bluegalaxyvr3442he’s just a spoiled child
I can see my house. Ha. Thought I saw you last week. Great videos.
If the electrics are that bad, what state is the plumbing work? Unsupported pipework? Leaks? Who knows....
Rcd fused spur, job done ! pure drama 😂
Those are some nasty cracks in the breezeblock in the Garage!
Hey mate
Really interested in the outcome with these cowboys please make a further video 👍
And…..who is really to blame for jobs carried out like this?
The bathroom fitters?
The customers that continue to seek out the cheapest trade workers out there?
The trade workers that continue to put there day rates up?
The fitters obviously. They are being deceitful.
We got an advertising card through the door saying, " you've had the cowboys now try the Indians - J. Patel and sons"...........
Look on the bright side it keeps us in work 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah since Wagos came into the game…easy peasy money…
@11:06 is that grey pipe an overflow for something? I would check the loft water tank overflow is correct.
Has the chrome finish started peeling off the trims yet?
That knocked over lamp- is it still there? I find it lovely, I´d like to buy it. The colour is beautiful and the shade seems still okay. I´d like to save and use it. Can we make that happen? Kind Regards
