      The tilting is definitely a little tricky at first, but I found switching to Target Camera Mode with Lock Horizon switched on feels really natural

    There is an amazing thing with Cinema 4D is when the cursor is on an object you move the camera around that object, how to achive that with a 3D mouse?

    • @CGShortcuts
      @CGShortcuts  Год назад

      Target Camera Mode alows you to move around an object directly infront of the camera with the spacemouse which is kinda similar

    Hi! I have to say I love your tutorials! Thanks for all of them! I have a colleague that has one of this but I don't know if I should buy it because it's another thing to be dependent of :D.
    Seeing how fluid it it got me to think it would be very useful to animate the camera movements. Do you think there's a way to record its movement in C4D?

      Cappucino should do the trick, built into C4D.

      Thats a good question! You could try Cappucino or maybe autokeyframes, but Im not sure that would work on a camera while looking through it, it'll have to look into it. Would be cool if you could!

    Ok. Let’s get real here. I’m a 10+ year 3d connection user. The last 3 c4d versions made the device absolutely useless. Tbh 3d connexxion and maxon need to get their fucking shit together.

      Yeah - beware if you run C4D on a Mac M1/M2. Maxon and 3dconnexion are NOT best friends and ignore the Mac user community. After 2 years of a mutual blame game, 3dconnexion finally came out with a driver that sucks. Avoid until they get their stuff working.

Blender supports linux, blender was earlier with apple silicon support, blender disn’t fuck up the 3d mouse implementation, blender is free. What the fuck are we paying maxon for? I need to get my boss to donate the equivalent of maxon license fee to blender foundation.

    I know you're trying to promote the product, but honestly, at best it comes off as if you don't really know how to navigate the viewport properly and at worst, seems completely disingenuous.
    Cinema 4D's navigation is by default set to cursor mode, which essentially gives you precise controls based on the position of your cursor.
    2:07 - You're not suppose to dolly your camera using the scroll wheel, or GOD forbid the stupid little icon in the upper right corner. You're suppose to use ALT + Right Click and drag. That way you move as far and as precise as you want.
    2:20 - Rotating around that object is a pain? You literally just position your cursor on the object you want to orbit around, press ALT and then click and drag. Whatever you put your cursor on, it will pin it to its surface and orbit around that point in space.
    Just in case you've had the misfortune of not learning C4D navigation in the appropriate mode, you can make sure it's correctly set to "Cursor Mode" by going into the viewport at "Cameras" > "Navigation" then "Cursor Mode"
    I've contemplated getting one of those things as well, but it's expensive and makes absolutely no sense to use it over a conventional mouse. Considering how many software I have to juggle and how precise and quick I have to be in all of the UI's, it makes no sense to keep jerking the hand from mouse to 3d mouse or from it to the keyboard. I would much rather advise people to get a Wacom Tablet over that thing, at least it's a decent pointing device. Just make sure to have "Graphics Tablet" checked in the "Input Devices" tab in "Preferences".

    • @CGShortcuts
      @CGShortcuts  Год назад +2

      Thanks for the comment, I probably did a bad job of explaining this - I mean if you're set to Object Navigation Mode which pivots the camera around the center of the selected object, it can be a bit tricky in large scenes to position the camera on smaller details (especially in a scene like this where most of the geometry is merged into a single mesh) Cursor Mode is a great option in this case. It's hard to explain how the 3D mouse feels in relation to normal mouse navigation, it's one of those things you cant really know until you try it - I was sceptical at first as well but I really love how easy it makes getting around a scene. You can absolutely get by without a Spacemouse, for me it just makes navigating faster and a lot more fun.

      @@CGShortcuts Agreed, didn't have it for years, not an essential for sure but now that I've learnt it and use it everyday I can't go back to the keyboard shortcuts as its such a time saver and incredibly fun to navigate/frame shots.

    • @PeterFagerberg
      @PeterFagerberg Год назад +3

      Sure, a 3D mouse IS an acquired taste AND takes time to get used to. But once you do - it's pretty darn hard to revert to keyboard navigation.

    • @mrmunkee
      @mrmunkee Год назад +4

      From your message, it sounds like you think this is used in place of a mouse. The use of this is meant to be with your left hand, with your right hand still on a normal mouse. It has shortcut keys all over it which is what your left hand is doing anyways on a keyboard. This is meant to give you more nagivational freedom so you dont need to use your main right hand mouse to navigate. No more clicking and dragging or holding a key on the keyboard and clicking and dragging, just moving around seamlessly with your left hand and using your right hand for clicking on things. This replaces the keyboard basically, not the mouse, but adds the navigation with the joystick-puck. There is no switching between devices needed, since you should add all the keyboard shortcuts you need onto this device, then you dont need to use your keyboard.
