- I have been using a Filofax for a year now and have found that the paper planning method is by far what works best for me. Write it down, cross it out, keep it moving. I can't be without it now. No way, no how. In part one of Ways of a Filofax, I show you the dashboard of my planner. This section is where I store my inbox (incoming) items and keep track of my goals. I also give you a glimpse at my secondary planning tool which is an iPhone app called 2Do. In this gorgeous app that allows me to organize by tabs, yes super-duper tabs, I keep certain lists and reoccurring actions.
Products mentioned:
Malden Filofax - personal size in Ochre

Thanks for watching! Subscribe for more organizational sassiness on the way. Any suggestions or video requests? Be sure to let me know.
I hope you made a reminder to change your smoke alarm battery if that is what that beeping is. I enjoyed your vid :)
Love your videos! By the way the chirping of the smoke detector was NO BIG DEAL! I was just SO very happy to see these! They are the best ones available. Thank you for taking the time from your busy schedule to help us out. You are a natural teacher. Thanks again!
Started watching had to stop to change the battery in one of my smoke alarms, came back to finish watching and....beep! It took me three times of stopping and restarting to figure out it wasn't my alarm at all but yours, lol!! Great filo set up btw!!
Good work. I love to see a Filofax put to such good use.
Exactly. The deco and colors bring it to life. On top of that, having a setup that keeps you on top of things. Who's not coming back to that?!
Thanks so much I appreciate your kind words! It's my absolute pleasure sharing where all my filo tweaks have lead.
Yes will forever love "What's in my Filofax" vids. Thanks a lot!
WOW....I LOVE your setup....You've given me some GREAT ideas....Can't wait to see part 2....!!
This has really made tracking assignments a breeze for me. Clutter free. Have fun and good luck to you!
I find it to be a great investment. It gets daily devoted usage. The texture, the pocket placements, the style of it alone feels like home. Unlike any other binder i've tried. And then you add your own personalized setup, the rest is history! Best of luck to ya!
I love how exited and full off energy you seem, defenentilt subbed👌😏 your so awesome
I love it! Not only your setup but you are very witty, as well. ;)
Great video!! Can't wait for part 2!! Love the setup so far!! I'm in love with the personal size Malden's, I'm in the process of getting the Vintage Pink Malden soon!! I can't wait!! I think I'm gonna go & order some of that washi tape!! :-)
love your passion, And what you have done with your filofax.. washi tape is amazing... Awesome video.. Tfs x
hi, luv the video, and your enthusiasm for organizing. u are a very busy person. I am not half as busy but am very forgetful. your ideas are so helpful. people dont realize it may take people a lot of time to get organized like this but in the long run you save so much time when your projects and goals are easily carried out in a timely manner. will subscribe.
Hi Enjoyette! You have such a lovely nickname! I just wanted to write you that you have hooked me to the whole Filofax thing!
Only because of your cool videos I have started the channel about Filofax and all things related!
I was so impressed with all your organization! :) I certainly want you to continue making videos!
That's so wonderful to hear! Love your enthusiasm. Thanks so much for your kind words, I really do enjoy sharing these.
Whoo i'm all for finding new setup ideas, so glad to be of some help!
You have a really beautiful filofax. And I agree, keeping it cute and something you enjoy handling is really super important. That is what makes me come back to mine. That, and the fact that it works to keep me somewhat organised. :)
I love tour videos. I watch them over and over. Please do an update. They are great!
I love this video, your filofax is AMAZING! I'm so glad that it popped up and I had the chance to watch. I really thought that I had my filofax down to a T until I saw this. So many great ideas that I will be putting into practice. On a last note as well, love all the funky stuff and post-it notes. You can never have to many! :)
Great video, you've definitely inspired me on how to plan my monthly goals!
I just finished watching all three videos, I got a lot of ideas from them so thank a lot for sharing! I'm envious now for that gorgeus planner. It suck, where I live they don't sell all this stuff, but I'm gonna improvize something simillar, self made.
Solid colored stickies are my faves! I don't get tired of looking at them.
Your videos give me so much inspiration! Thank you :) I've been thinking about getting the Malden Personal in Ochre for a time now, and after watching your videos I have decided that I want to invest in one. They are so pretty!
Thank You!!!! :D They do have some fun stuff! Have a great week!
Great video! Love how you used the K&Company pockets with washi! Beautiful planner and great set-up! Your energy and enthusiasm is inspirational too!
I'm a paper oriented person too. Electronic planners and I don't play well together! Thanks for the great video!
Love the way you think/organise; I can see you haven't posted much, but I'm adding you just to bookmark you on RUclips - thank you.
I only got to watch the first half, BUT I LOVE YOUR SET UP, my boyfriend got bored and I felt sorry for him, so I will finish watching another day, I have only just moved back to Personal having been in pocket a few months, which I loved but I just miss being in the 'Personal Crew'
You have made me want to tab my Filofax so much more.... need to buy more page flags etc :) Love them
Amazing video :) cant wait to watch the rest...
Google just outed me, I can no longer hide behind Imysworld!
pretty sweet that they added those in there!
Those are lovely. Before my filo days I tried out an A5, didn't last because of the weight but having all that space felt great. Thanks! Bet I sound like a kid on Christmas day.
Wow! That's very impressive... You are amazing!
Wonderful! When the week gets hectic as long as I can flip over there and see all my big projects and goals streamlined in one spot, i'm good.
Great video, can't wait to see the second part!
Just found you on Yt!! Subscribed right away! I am a student and LO vEd the way you track you weekly assignment. In a different section! Great useas!
I have looked at a lot of systems but I think you have one of the best. I have some serious memory problems and that is why I need a planner. Thanks so much for the time and thought you put into this. I think it is very helpful.
Can't wait for next part
Great job!
This is an AWESOME vid. I have a new personal Malden too (pink), and an iPhone, and got some great ideas.
Funny thing though: your smoke detector was chirping in the background, which I kept thinking was mine. I had to stop the video several times to check mine before I realized it was yours. LOL. And my dog starts barking & freaking out every time he hears it. ;D
For writing down daily assignments I would recommend a "month on two pages - tabbed" and/or a "week on two pages" by Filofax or any other brand. A day per page would work as well, but I find the other two to be more efficient since you can see everything at a glance including an area for your commitments for the week.
My dog started freaking out when she heard the smoke alarm beeping. I had to check and make sure it wasn't mine lol.
Fantastic video. I am a very paper/note/organization type person. I think it comes from working at a law firm. You should do tutorials at firms with your knowledge of organization. It is key.
It is on the lengthy side! The thought of using a pocket has crossed my mind long ago but I'll just stuff that pocket to no end and it'll end up weighing as much as an A5. And personal is just the IT size anyway. Just feels right. So yep, I hear ya, team personal crew.
I thought you were all tabbed out in your fun Filo's. Tabs galore ;) Thanks! Yeah I've seen that new feature pop out at me as well. It looked non-reversible, so I thought let me wait for now.
I would suggest the personal size because portability is key. Depending on your planner setup and your choice of inserts you can make almost any size work. What won't fit on a certain insert can be simplified in that section and detailed in another.
Thanks! Ah sounds awesome. Hope that goes well! I adore the setup of the Malden's pockets. Much rather have zipper compartments be located at the front. Bulk in the back is a no go. Oh how I wish they'd come out with an almond colored Malden like the Amazona in almond or the Aston in mushroom.
very good, I love too see how others are crazy about their filofax and about the decorations and post its:-) I can not wait to buy Malden, just waiting if it would come in blue colour.
FC 'Compact' pages will fit into a Filofax Personal Malden (this model), because it's one of the wider Personals. With other Personal planners, though, you might find that the tabs stick out of the binder.
Really well done!
HA HA HA I was going crazy trying to see if my smoke detector was acting up. I paused this video several times and waited under the detector in my hallway....and nothing. So I returned to your video ,and again I heard beep so I paused the vid again and waited yet again, then nothing. Came back and unpaused your vid and I finally figured out that IT WAS YOURS ALL ALONG lolololol
Now that's impressive! That's a timeline i'd love to see. My longtime fascination with notebooks became hidden behind all my gadgets. And I just realized last year that I'm a paper planner type of gal after trying about how many apps??!! But it was actually great timing so I can't even complain!
It's on the list. Thanks for the suggestion.
"now this runs until 2015, I am not complaining"...lol...you're funny
Oh yes those planners look super fun. However, planner size is a big factor for me. I've used an A5 once for a little bit and because of its weight I had to leave it at home when I didn't want to. With a personal sized planner I can get away with bringing it almost everywhere. No prob and thanks!
My timeline of tweaks is a story to tell and I will definitely be sharing how it all lead to this point. Hope the ideas work out for ya and thanks so much. True that… no such thing as too many stickies!
another note: have you ever looked at your video with captions on.. I understood you perfectly, so I don't know how the CC picks up and makes it a little comical. :) . I also want to add, I enjoyed watching your videos. Very fun ideas for when I get a filofax. My planners are always boring. You gave some ideas.
Thank you. It's on it's way!
Awesome ! Its school nearly and I'm going to make this ^^
Thanks! It's Japanese Washi Tape from CuteTape dot com. The variety of artistic tape over there is endless!
You are sooo great!!! We don't see your face, but I m pretty sure you are very charming person!
Ok, thanks for your help!
LOL, I thought the smoke detector was mine! I love your enthusiasm! My only suggestions is to not move things around in front of the camera as much. They get blurry and I get dizzy. :^)
i love the way she says "cute"! lol
paula3692 Planners are a huge hobby now. People get obsessive over their hobby.
I hit pause and went looking for the chirping detector at my house. Aaargh! I replace the batteries every October and thought I had a malfunction. Gave me a giggle.
omg, an almond or cream/ecru colored Malden, like they have in the Deco... I'd be ALL OVER THAT. Seriously.
Those color pens are Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto's. Got them from JetPens, refills sold separately. I also use Pilot Frixion pens in my planner for areas I want to leave erasable.
There's also a navy Malden on the market.
lol I thought it was my smoke Alarm that was chirping so I sent for new Batteries lol.... I'm such a dope at times lol!!! x
Great video! Have you ever thought of getting an Erin Condren Life Planner? It has a lot more room as I see you like to use your filofax for a lot of things :)
Thanks for the tips too:)
Yes even though those FC compact pages (4¼" x 6¾") are wider, they will fit. The transparent pocket for my stickers at the very back is an FC compact sized sheet protector.
They're Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto.
Yeah I had to dig through tunnels to find it too. For the paper arrows search for "Natico Multi-Tasker Memo Holder" on Amazon. The colored tabs are NoteTabs by Avery from Franklin Planner dot com. Thanks!
Love the Filofax part bi
Yes! I can finally resume filming soon and a 2Do setup vid is near the top of the list.
LOL! Would love to see what's in your Filo.
Could you give an example of a reoccurring action?
It's from the K&Company Smash collection. Accessories galore. Prepare yourself!
Hey there, you can think of the dashboard like the desktop of your computer or the bookmark toolbar of your browser (if you use that). These are items that you want to get to quickly and can't be bothered with digging through your planner to find. Anything you want to see or want to be reminded of right when you open your planner… (continued)
Got those sticky arrows - search "Tiger sticky memo index tab flags set leather look case like post-it notes" for those ones, in amazon.
...If I make a separate section deep inside my planner for important grocery items, I know myself, I probably won't look at it as much. Therefore I keep my grocery items at the front of my planner (dashboard) so I'm constantly reminded of it and on top of that I love how easy it is for me to add items to the list this way. I also keep my Inbox (incoming) items here since these are items I constantly need to remember to process into actual planning sections, plus it's easy to add to that list.
The stick factor of the Natico memo holder flags is a bit below average so it loses its tack quick, the more it's moved around. But since it's inexpensive, I mostly use them as placeholders for things I may need to jot down later. Saving the Post-It flags for important matters.
This is a Filofax Personal Malden in ochre.
Are you planning an update anytime soon? I love your videos!
Ha that'd be a fun job. Might I say a little too fun ;)
after some digging around i found them on amazon "Natico Multi-Tasker Memo Holder, With six year calendar" that's what it was called and it's only 9 dollars plus shipping! :)
Wow u have a lot of stuff but I like the post it flags
Could you do a video just on how your organize your To Do app on your iPhone? I have the same app, but haven't been using it. I tried pausing the video to see your tabs on that app, but it was still hard to see how you have it all set up. Please show us!! Thanks :)
Cheers to your new Malden, how many filo's do you own? Would be awesome to see your setup. Glad some ideas came about and thanks so much! Oh no lol do excuse the chirp. Was hoping it wouldn't be too bothersome. It'll be taken care of quite soon.
This is the Filofax Personal Malden in ochre.
While watching the video, I thought it was my smoke detector. as I changed it and come back to the video, I still heard chirping. Turns out it wasn't mine. hehe
Thank you.
The monthly pages here are from Filofax: "Personal Month On Two Pages - Tabbed"
Much thanks. It's a coming!
I love your monthly pages/tabs and I think they would help tremendously with my first year at university - can I ask where you got those from? xD
Thanks so much!
I love the way you have set up your planner and plan on using some of your techniques. I do like your pens, but I am having problems locating them. What where they called, again?
Brilliant. I commented on the 2 part video that this is the smartest way of using Filofax. Can I ask what profession are you studying? Also, from where did you get that colourful Tabs what is on the top of the diary. Thanks in advance for the response.
Thank you :) x x
I think I would pay you to set up my Filofax!!! :)
When it comes to my weekly section, I put the action of the entry in its related color as shown in my vid update. Ex: film: video / buy: card / due: chase ... the word "film" i'd write in pink b/c it's a project, the word "buy" in orange b/c it's an errand and the word "due" in green b/c it's related to finance and everything else I write in black to relax the color variance a bit.
