Finally enough ice melted and we were able to take the canoe out of hibernation! We paddled down to one of our favourite places to ice camp and spent our last night of the season on the ice. It even got hot enough to go for a swim! (polar dip)

Taking a polar dip is a regular pastime in Finland. It's taken in conjunction with going to sauna. A square hole is cut in the ice on a lake and people take a dip alternating with warming up in the sauna. It's considered very healthy.

A tip for saws that bind up like this, take a pair of pliers or needle nosed pliers and bend a few of the teeth a little more in the direction they already are. This will widen the kerf of the saw, Which is the width of the cut thusly not allowing it to bund up anymore
I used to trap minnows a ways north-west of your area (Ear Falls/Red Lake) and a really good bait for minnows is to mix chick feed and flour 2:1 with some water. Make balls out of the mix about 4" in diameter and toss them in the trap. Love the vids!

It's good to feel what cold does to your body. As we all know being in the cold cold your body starts keeping your blood closer and closer to your heart and major organs to keep them alive. your toes, fingers then legs and arms, will start going numb first. I think it good to test our bodys when not necessary that way when it is you'll know how far you can push yourself. great video...

I have watched hundreds of great outdoor camping video’s in the winter, before, during, and after a winter storm, I watched them build shelters, campfires, beds etc. but what I have never seen is anyone build a latrine (toilet). They don’t have to demonstrate using it, but at else show that you have one, or some new modern day method designed for camping. No one can go three days camping without relieving themselves, its part of life, human nature, nothing to be shamed about.

I love watching these shows about how people camp in the snow/rain and they all have the luxuries of home. What I don't understand is why everyone skimps on the saw. If it were me that would be the most important piece of equipment and I would have a saw that works. Skimp on the 12" cast iron skillet and bring a little battery powered Milwaukee with a 6" blade. Just my thoughts.

If you forget utensils and are eating what is essentially a pokébowl just make chopsticks with a whittled branch. That's what I did as a kid with cup noodles while hiking

When I was in the Swedish military we had to take a polar dip at least once a week. I was stationed in northern Sweden where it gets really cold.

I been doing a cold shower daily for 5 months now, in the mornings. (Wm Hof) people claim it has great benefits- I can tell I feel better, and haven't been treating my psoriasis since 👍. The trick is breathing, calm and through your mouth. Spring has Sprung- Shark fishing down here is picking up. 👍 Nice Vid buddy.

Dude: aye laddie, in the States we call 'em ....K-E-E-P-E-R-S. Whether it's fishin' or....goin' for some fine Canadian Beaver pelts (the g/f).....you will NEVER do any better!!! OMG....my g/f's thought a hotel room below the 9th. floor was roughing it. Couldn't be bothered to help w/ yardwork.

If you want another way to cook rice
First, pour the rice into a bowl and pour water 3 or 4 times and stir by hand, and then empty the water, and finally you will see that the color of the water is clear. Add a tablespoon of salt and a tablespoon of oil. Of course, the amount of salt and oil depends on the number of servings of rice. Make sure there are no holes in the rice. Make sure there is not too much water in the pan. Then put the pan with a cloth and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes on very low heat. This step should be done on a low heat. You have a different rice

I was trying to picture how you did the drone footage while canoeing and I bet it was a huge challenge. Similarly, the setup of the ground camera while coming onshore. Unless you've got an invisible cameraman you're not telling us about.
