I've just discovered your channel thanks to the youtube algorithm yesterday, the thing unique about your camping adventures among the other youtubers I've seen is that it is a couple camping adventure. Pretty interesting to see the both of you having fun out in the ice!
Adam, get yourself a good quality *Wooster 5 gallon paint roller grid* from any box store and you can use it to cook (pot rest only. NOT plain food!) on a Mr Buddy. It’s not a completely intuitive set up but, it hooks under the top handle of the Mr heater, off the front, kind of upside down position . It will definitely support something like your coffee pot. I learned about it from a yt vid but I can’t remember which one.

Another great one! Love the skating circle idea...finding recreation in the dead of winter is important. We gotta get out! The breakfast idea that Joelle had brought me back to my childhood when my mom used to make that! You prefaced this video by talking about video and audio problems, but it came out quite well on our end. The abrupt ending was there, but the rest was super entertaining. Thank you both!

Hey there, great video! I do a bunch of winter camping also. You mentioned at the end that you have the co monitor hanging up. Just wanted to let you know that co is heavier than o2, which means it'll start building up at the bottom first. So I usually keep mine low on the ground near my head, or even beside my pillow. Anyways, great video, stay safe out there!

Great video. Looks like you guys had a blast. Love that you guys cook real meals out there. I need to get better about that instead of relying on freeze-dried stuff or smokies and pizza pops lol.
Looked like an amazing spot.
I'd like to share a few things tgat might make it a bit easier. Definitely get an ice anchor attachment for a cordelss drill and bring it. Makes putting anchors in so easy. I always anchor at least the corners. Never know sometimes when the weather will change on you.
I had the same tent. Definitely make a folding floor with those tiles. I had almost full coverage on my floor excpet 1 stretch along one side for my holes for fishing. I set mine up so it was 3 tile long and 4 sections wide. That cover like 80% of the ground. Then i had a single 3 tile section for along the back. Floor would only take seconds to put down.
For the buddy heater i picked up a cheap woodstove fan. Helps spread the heat a bit better. I also picked up a cordless fan the same brand as my drills and hung it from the peak. I face it away drom the heater. Pushes all that super warm air that collects near the roof down. I find i get a more even heat in my tent. Its runs like 2 days on a 6ah battery. I also have heard of people having issues leaving the co detector along the walls. Sometimes they get too cold and wont work supposedly. My cot came with one of those organizers soni put it there. Close to my head so i can hear it go off.
Just thought id share some of the things I've found handy or useful!

Another Great video. I just put together a floor for my Clam X-400 yesterday. Really hoping it helps cut down on the water in the shanty this year. Keeping that Buddy heater up off the floor also helps w/ the water problem. Keep em coming !

How do you know that your not setting up a tent on a lake? I would be scared I would fall in. And you put the stove on it! Y'all are brave! Love and good luck to y'all 😊👍
They are setting up on the lake. Hence the ice that they were on. Once the ice is over 6" inches thick it's generally safe to walk on. I drive my suv on around 16 inches. I know guys that drive out their 1 ton trucks on that too.
The heater doesn't affect the ice for the most part. Not in a safety concern type of way. If on the ground you definitely can get some surface melting which can just be more of a pain than anything.

Some call your thumb bread, a pig in a blanket or a toad in hole! Great with maple syrup!!
Make a plan and get out there! Many places in Ontario have ice huts that you can rent and they are a pretty fun experience when you don't have the gear yourself

Word of advice I've been ice camping awhile now and have learned that leaving some snow and packing it down vs shoveling to the ice is actually better especially if there's slush worries.

Not sure if you want to give up your location or not. Im from Ontario myself and want to find some safe ice for some camping and fishing. The lake i have used for many years isn’t freezing over, with mild temperatures and high winds.

I live in the mid west in the U.S. & Christmas weekend we’re about to have blizzard conditions dipping down to - 25 to -30 with the wind chill & around 4 inches of snow . With 35 to 40 MPH winds . I thought about getting my tent out & setting it up in my backyard on Friday night . I’ve never camped in temps like that . The lowest temp I’ve camped in is around 17 degrees Fahrenheit & I stayed very warm without no heater .
You need the drill bit to put the ice spikes in super fast and don’t forget the 4 tie down straps

Great episode! We have the big buddy and it caused so much condensation that it rained on us all night long 🤣. We switched to a diesel heater for the 2023 season.

Look into a smitty sled build. You won't regret the amount of weight it takes off when pulling the sled. You'll yell at yourself for not doing it sooner. ;)

Joelle: You hold the knife wrong. Pinch the blade between your thumb and forefinger right on the metal before the handle. This will give you more stability.
