@@rogerstarkey5390 The China - Russia “Grain Entente” - what is at stake for Canada and its allies?: Sergey Sukhankin for Inside Policy Moscow - with China’s help, approval, and likely, guidance - intends to challenge the West by changing the rules of trade in foods critical to global buyers. May 21, 2024 Forced to evolve its strategy, Russia seems to be abandoning its plan of threatening to starve its adversaries. Instead, Moscow - with China’s help, approval, and likely, guidance - intends to challenge the West by changing the rules of trade in foods critical to global buyers. This strategy is being implemented via pursuit of two interrelated initiatives: formation of a “Grain Entente” between Beijing and Moscow, and the use of the BRICS trading bloc (consisting of nine nations led by founding countries Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) as a critical vehicle of change. The first major step in this direction was made in October 2023, when the Russian Food Export Trade LLC company and China Chengtong International Limited concluded the “grain deal of the century” - the largest contract of this type ever signed between the two countries - according to which the Russian side pledges to deliver 70 million tons of various types of grain (produced in the Urals, Siberia, and the Far East) over the next twelve years for US$26.5 billion. As a result, already in the first quarter of 2024, Russia broke a historical record by supplying China with large volumes of oats (.7 times more than the previous year) and buckwheat (3.3 more than the previous year) receiving a staggering US$127 million. Yet, mounting grain sales is only the tip of the iceberg. The most critical development is China’s gradual overtaking of Russia’s logistical infrastructure, which could pave the way for China’s growing control over Eurasian logistics and trade routes. In September 2023, officials from Russia and China met at the 8th Eastern Economic Summit in Vladivostok, where officials from both sides agreed to create a logistical hub - the “GrainTerminal Nizhneleninskoye-Tongjiang” in the Jewish Autonomous Oblast. The goal is to create the Russia’s first “land-based grain fleet.” Consisting of 22,000 containers transporting grain, it will be capable of moving up to 600,000 tons of grain with a maximum storage capacity of up to 8 million per year. The strategic significance of this move is clear. On one hand, it allows Russia to “safeguard” itself against sanctions pressure, which will likely make Russia’s behaviour in Europe (and elsewhere) even more aggressive and unpredictable. On the other hand, China - which will acquire de facto control over Russia’s grain - will see Beijing become the world’s largest grain hub, giving it enormous power to influence and set global food prices. Russia’s next major move was to push for the creation of a BRICS grain exchange. Fully supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the proposed grain exchange would bring together some of the world’s biggest grain buyers and exporters, cumulatively accounting for more than 42 percent of global grain production (at nearly 1.2 million ) and 40 percent of global consumption. International observers and subject experts have already warned that Russia- and China- adverse exporters of grain and agricultural products such as the United States, Canada, and Australia “might face challenges in maintaining their market share and negotiating for favourable trade terms, while facing competition from cheaper Russian .” In effect, this may have “significant implications for global agricultural dynamics, ranging from geopolitical and geoeconomic realignments to increased competition in agricultural trade. For traditional exporters such as Australia and the US, it is a call to reassess their national policies and strategies to navigate the evolving landscape of international trade to maintain competitiveness.” - If the Russia-China grain alliance proliferates and BRICS becomes a major player in the global flow of grains and other foodstuffs, it could prompt even greater changes to the established world market. Analysis of Russian-language sources and publications indicates that the next step would be the creation of an alternative to the “West-dominated” financial architecture, and ultimately, the transformation of global trade. Russia’s plans (undoubtedly supported by China) pose a very serious challenge to Canada, its allies, and other liberal democracies. They will likely suffer economic losses of grain exports due to the cheapness of Russian grain, and that country’s current occupation of a large part of Ukraine’s most fertile black-earth areas. If unchecked, Russia could assume control of more than 30 percent of global grain supplies. Currently, the Indo-Pacific region is Canada’s largest export destination, with agriculture and food exports totaling $9.4 billion in 2022. If China gains unfettered access to Russian grain, it could seriously undercut Canada’s trade. Making matters worse for Canada, its relationship with New Delhi is arguably at an all-time low, making it challenging to pivot sales of its agricultural products toward India or other countries without significant economic losses. To put all of this in perspective as someone who followed the war closely since Feb 2022 in Ukraine and 2006 Lebanon - Israeli war. 1. In ukraine, the Ukrainian army is firing somewhere about 35,000 artillery shells at the start of the war, its now down to 6000 - 10,000 per day. EU + US's yearly production of these shells is about 300k a YEAR. or about a month worth of fighting. Russia is dipping into their soviet stocks from the 70s and 80s, not yet running out but still far out producing the entire west. In a single transaction, the north koreans sent 9 million artillery shells to Russia earlier this year. 2. The US manufactures about 600 patriot missiles per year (at peak capacity). It takes about 2-3 interceptors to get a good intereception on fast missiles. In a single exchange, Iran fired almost 440 missiles into Israel. Hezbollah is estimated to have a stock pile of more than 50,000 missiles/rockets. 3. the ATACMs, being the wonder weapon against Russia, costs 1.7 million each, and only have a range of about 300km and warhead about 200kg, and total amount built is about 3000 since 1991. The Americans commissioned 1700 more but the plan isnt funded in the budget in 2023. Right now the amount of missile available to Ukraine is in double digits. This missile is comparable to the DF-11 Chinese missile, 350km range, 800kg warhead, and costs around 350k adjusted for inflation. 4. an Iron Dome interceptor missile is mass produced and 'cheap', costing about 100k-150k each shot. A common Hamas rocket is 800 per shot, and a typical drone is between 1k-2k with exlposive. Hamas and other resistance have been so 'resourceful' they have repurposed unexploded bombs used by the IDF into blowing up their tanks. A Merkava 4 tank costs around 3.5 million and Hamas have destroyed hundreds of these since October 7th. Most of them are towed and repaired, but there are dozens that got captured, stripped, and totalled from within.

There's a whole lot of people out there who would say the Houthis are 'not accomplishing anything' and it sure sounds a whole lot like they're accomplishing something to me. Regardless of how you might feel about them, 'ineffective' doesn't seem accurate to me.

By MICHAEL HIRSH 06/09/2023 04:30 AM EDT The war began in the early morning hours with a massive bombardment - China’s version of “shock and awe.” Chinese planes and rockets swiftly destroyed most of Taiwan’s navy and air force as the People’s Liberation army and navy mounted a massive amphibious assault across the 100-mile Taiwan Strait. Having taken seriously President Joe Biden’s pledge to defend the island, Beijing also struck pre-emptively at U.S. and allied air bases and ships in the Indo-Pacific. The U.S. managed to even the odds for a time by deploying more sophisticated submarines as well as B-21 and B-2 stealth bombers to get inside China’s air defense zones, but Washington ran out of key munitions in a matter of days and saw its network access severed. The United States and its main ally, Japan, lost thousands of service members, dozens of ships, and hundreds of aircraft. Taiwan’s economy was devastated. And as a protracted siege ensued, the U.S. was much slower to rebuild, taking years to replace ships as it reckoned with how shriveled its industrial base had become compared to China’s. The Chinese “just ran rings around us,” said former Joint Chiefs Vice Chair Gen. John Hyten in one after-action report. “They knew exactly what we were going to do before we did it.” Dozens of versions of the above war-game scenario have been enacted over the last few years, most recently in April by the House Select Committee on competition with China. And while the ultimate outcome in these exercises is not always clear - the U.S. does better in some than others - the cost is. In every exercise the U.S. uses up all its long-range air-to-surface missiles in a few days, with a substantial portion of its planes destroyed on the ground. In every exercise the U.S. is not engaged in an abstract push-button war from 30,000 feet up like the ones Americans have come to expect since the end of the Cold War, but a horrifically bloody one. And that’s assuming the U.S.-China war doesn’t go nuclear. Politico

Luckily, it shouldn't have to have one. Of course, counting ships does not tell the whole story. Even more critical are the missions assigned to these ships and the conditions under which they will fight. In a hypothetical conflict between the United States and China for control of the South and East China Seas, the continental power would enjoy substantial structural advantages over U.S. forces. China, for instance, would be able to use its land-based air power, located at many dispersed and hardened bases, against naval targets. The ONI forecasts China’s inventory of maritime strike aircraft rising from 145 in 2009 to 348 by 2020. U.S. land-based air power in the Western Pacific operates from just a few bases, which are vulnerable to missile attack from China (the Cold War-era Intermediate Nuclear Forces Treaty prevents the United States from developing theater-based surface-to-surface missiles with ranges sufficient to put Chinese bases at risk). A comparison of ship counts similarly does not include China’s land-based anti-shipcruise missiles, fired from mobile truck launchers. Nor does it account for China’s fleet of coastal patrol boats, also armed with anti-ship cruise missiles. The Air-Sea Battle concept began as an effort to improve staff coordination and planning between the Navy and the Air Force in an effort to address the structural disadvantages these forces would have when going up against a well-armed continental power like China. The concept is about creating operational synergies between the services. An example of this synergy occurred in last year’s campaign against Libya, when U.S. Navy cruise missiles destroyed Libya’s air defense system, clearing the way for the U.S. Air Force to operate freely over the country. But Air-Sea Battle still faces enormous challenges in overcoming the "home court" advantage a continental power enjoys deploying its missile forces from hidden, dispersed, and hardened sites. In addition, the United States faces a steep "marginal cost" problem with an opponent like China; additional defenses for U.S. ships are more expensive than additional Chinese missiles. And China can acquire hundreds or even thousands of missiles for the cost of one major U.S. warship. FP 👇 America has no Ukraine Plan B except more war US foreign policy establishment blindly intent on beating Russia on the battlefield and crushing its economy. Neither will happen By DAVID P GOLDMAN MARCH 25, 2024 This is evident, I added, in China’s newfound dominance in the world automotive market but it also has critical military implications. China claims that it has automated plants that can make 1,000 cruise missiles a day-not impossible given that it can manufacture 1,000 EVs a day, or thousands of 5G base stations. The implication is that China can produce the equivalent of America’s inventory of 4,000 cruise missiles in a week while American defense contractors take years to assemble them by hand. AsiaTimes

While what you are saying makes sense, I think you're approaching it wrong. You're using logic and reason and thinking that there is a group consciousness.
For traditional exporters such as Australia and the US, it is a call to reassess their national policies and strategies to navigate the evolving landscape of international trade to maintain competitiveness.”
- If the Russia-China grain alliance proliferates and BRICS becomes a major player in the global flow of grains and other foodstuffs, it could prompt even greater changes to the established world market.

The Pentagon Is Freaking Out About a Potential War With China (Because America might lose.)
By MICHAEL HIRSH
06/09/2023 04:30 AM EDT
The war began in the early morning hours with a massive bombardment - China’s version of “shock and awe.”
Chinese planes and rockets swiftly destroyed most of Taiwan’s navy and air force as the People’s Liberation army and navy mounted a massive amphibious assault across the 100-mile Taiwan Strait.

This Week at War: An Arms Race America Can’tWin
The United States has no chance in ship-for-shipshowdown with China.
And China can acquire hundreds or even thousands of missiles for the cost of one major U.S. warship.

MARCH 25, 2024
This is evident, I added, in China’s newfound dominance in the world automotive market but it also has critical military implications.

While what you are saying makes sense, I think you're approaching it wrong. You're using logic and reason and thinking that there is a group consciousness.
The West has no group conscious nor sense of team. The United States in particular has no people. It is not a people. Therefore there is no sense of "we" and only a collection of "me"s.
You and I see things differently and are puzzled by behavior we would not engage in, however, when seen thru a lens of selfish immaturity, I think it makes sense.
It's akin to the "rules based international order" nonsense. It's patently a ruse by now, but they will continue to say it because no one in their lives challenges any of them so they are never forced to consider a deeper or conflicting perspective.
Same way people in the United States think their pensions will continue to be paid when it's mathematically impossible.
More funding. Funding increases. Same reason they admit China has local military superiority, to get more funding.
They know the resistance is well aware of this already. The resistance strategy has been to fire off large numbers of their cheaper missiles so that the idf would use up their stocks of defence missiles in an unsustainable way.
Maybe the US should ask China or Russia to build their Missiles. In Canada I'm waiting for this country to start building high speed rail ..we have become so useless.
And extremely expensive too. Shame about Canada though, thank Trudeau for those woes.
@@jabbawakka7286 It goes beyond Trudeau. Failures are everywhere. No vision no ambition no leadership.
Canada is a province and Trudeau is a governor of the empire. The ruling class of the empire doesn't care about high speed rail or potholes because they fly and they live all over their empire. Not just USA or Canada. This class of people doesn't care about culture, heritage, historic sites, people. Everything can be destroyed to support their life and power if needed.
Canada should have built HSR from Toronto to Quebec, but you now have a lot of Indians, so maybe they to do it.
but you have freedom and democracy!!!!!
Fantastic as always. Great job, Kevin
Excellent reports. Current. Illustrative, relevant. One of the most serious, thorough, well informed podcasters. Keep doing a great job.
Maybe slingshots can be replaced instead of them
Kevin tells the truth but the US authorities live in a bubble. Hope Trump is more realistic but he is not alone in this.
The only Advisor trump has that has a little knowledge of China is musk
The rest are China hawks who have 1990s solutions to combat a 2024 China
Musk is Atleast adept at showing up to China to get deals done
That’s what trump should have done day 1
Shown up every 6 months with trade delegations and embarrassing the Chinese if there was no grand deals to announce at the end of the visit
Just look at Mr Trump's cabinet members,.. give me a break ! The heavenly gods are smiling with fortune and happiness upon China !
Add in silver and germanium too.
Mexico has lots of silver
The U.S. MIC is profit driven, while those in e.g. Russia & China are purpose driven. This explains why the U.S. is failing.
I really appreciate your analysis. Hope your channel grows!
So the Northern Potomac is naked.
Are you listening Russia, China, Iran and North Korea?
@@UPdanto fox 🦊, MSNBC 😞😧😂😂
Thank you for this essential reporting.
Why not buy cheap Chynese missiles? Ooops I forgot there's a 200% tarrifs on all goods from Chyna😂
Thanks for the information video as always....."Be good":)
There is a story line for a very funny movie in this sad tale of incompetence, stupidity, arrogance and insanity. As we say in South Africa: Ag Shame!
Lastly manpower : where are the engineers and scientists going to come from? China , Iran , India?
Germany. No joke.
little-India?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ask Boeing about their parts.
Ask Apple about their E.Colli iPhones.
India. LOL
Chinese top talent is staying at home, whereas India's best, such as it is, is coming to America.
@@Ludak021 America drained Germany of talent in 1945, that's how NASA came to be and America put a man on the moon. I don't think modern Germany has anywhere near the numbers or caliber of talent they did back in the 1930s and 1940s.
US missiles and planes are also inferior to Chinese missiles, planes, radar, etc. in addition to the export ban of these strategic metals
Kevin is the Walter Cronkite, Woodward and Bernstein of international news! Thank you
You are the man, thaks for a realty check.
Zero care factor. Maybe look after your own people before your endless wars.
Good idea to restrict shipment of strategic metals to the US. But it will affect other industries as well as military.
Just 15 years ago we had five Titanium and and three Magnesium foundries in the US. But as usual, the business community of this country decided that those needed to be outsourced too. The MBA programs of this country's universities have been the gift that keeps on giving to the Chinese government. The leadership of this country has become the living embodiment of the Dunning-Kruger effect
正呀!無飛彈無戰爭,是和平來臨時候了🙏🙏
From another perspective, the US military industrial complex making lots of money they are running out of stocks.
I'm retired at 27, went from Grace to Grace. This video here reminds me of my transformation from a nobody to good home, honest wife and 35k biweekly and a good daughter full of love ❤️

Great news for Lockheed Martin shareholders. Bad news for taxpayers.
That's easy to solve!

If the USA can sanction China and the world for national security, then the world can also sanction the USA for national security also.
We will "Be good". Thanks for this very pertinent piece of news. Just wondering how much influence this has on rushing for a meddle east ceasefire? Hmmmm🤷♂
None❤
It's only going to cost a few trillion dollars to get these production lines running again. Nothing to worry about ! /sarc
its not a problem. It means peace. It means western politicians will be more humble
Yes and tonight uk getting rid of several ships. ..
Did you have a good trip?
Wonderful way to reciprocate the concept to “contain” another country. We’ll play China!
US is NOT running out of USD. The FED can ''print'' as much USD as they want, figuratively speaking. On the other hand, Russia can now supply long range missles and OK the their use in the middle East, like the US.
Thats amazeing it loiks like county kerry..very green and open space..
