Using the Graco pressure roller on an exterior job. Looking at how to setup the Graco Pressure Roller with my Graco 390 airless paint sprayer. Using an inline gun, and HD extensions. I have the Graco Jet roller kit too but more often I find myself using the pressure roller.
The paint is fed straight into the roller sleeve so there is no spray involved, no potential overspray from accidentally pressing the trigger. This can be a great accessory for when you need speed of application and zero spray.
It doesnt need alot of pressure to work. Im running on around 400/500psi as even when I pull the trigger it isnt shooting out the roller too fast and creating the pattern on the roller. Its slowly filling the roller sleeve for even application.
A few options to buy. If you already have the extensions, you could just buy

So much faster then the old dip and roll, dip and roll... Great video man!👍🏻😎
Thanks for checking it out ✌ is it something you guys have used before? congrats on the big rise. Some momentum now!
Sprayaholic why not spray the house???
I use the pressure roller for any job over 1 room ( which is 99% of my work) I find that putting a little Vaseline on roller ends and inside roller 1/2” seals roller and I have no leaks for several day jobs.
Nice. Yez its a fantastic piece of kit, i try to use it on all my exteriors
Thanks that was very useful for a refresher
Appreciate the comments. Thanks for watching
Great video! Wish you'd cover clean-up, esp when you don't intend to clean the entire machine, but limit to cleaning the roller assembly
Thanks for watching. I can do a video on clean up. You mean just for the roller assembly?
I agree 100%. I've been working with that attachment for most of the day and now it's the end of day and would really appreciate a cleaning vid because the instructions don't say anything about it.....
As Steven says great video. You explain things really well in all your videos and its nice to see products in real life situations so we know if its something we could use too.
Will take a look at this for when we get back to exteriors. Stay safe :)
Appreciate it Sarah thanks for watching. Keep safe
Great vid
Good video Simon. Actually explaining and mentioning pros and cons. So many videos ( on every subject not just our game ) don’t show how anything bloody works. Well done sir. You prefer this to the jet roller ?. Stay safe mate. Cheers
Great informative video, that piece of kit would certainly speed up some jobs x
Gracias, seguiré tus videos
Good explanation of how its used bet you finish in no time. Looks like it covers great too. Im still after a cleanshot valve lol
Thanks for checking it out. ha ye cleanshots a nice bit of kit. Ye cut in and then your get around in no time
Could you do a video comparing this to the jet roller? side by side , to see difference in speed etc. Much appreciated !!
Hey thanks for watching. I might be able to do the comparison in a few weeks time when i get onto another job. So I'll take the camera gear with me
I hope they will offer an 18" version
@DanMarcelino they do sell a 12inch version
@@DanMarcelino graco 224268 is the product number
@@sprayaholic thanks!
Actual setup and cleanup would be nice to have a video of.
Sure thing, exterior season is getting closer here so I'll dig it out the workshop and see what i can do
Great video mate. Would it be possible for you to do a video on spraying exterior render. Was just a bit concerned about streaking etc.
Cheers mate
Sure next time im on one I'll sort something. To be honest
If its smooth render, i do often roll. Its fast less masking, or i use the pressure roller alot. If its textured finish like pebble dash or rough cast, ideally its best to back roll anywsy so the roller pushes it onto the holes.
Flat surfaces, if its on too light with spray it may show patchy. You can always do it on 2m x 2m squares. Sprayer vertical then horizontal, should eliminate that issue. But depends on the sheen on the finish. The previous coat could show a twxtire making it look like youve done a bad pass, shading or texture from rhe original surface.
@@sprayaholic cheers mate how much is the pressure roller with extension?
@@micksmith3352 not sure, check out sprayman uk or spray direct.
Cool bit of kit
Thanks for watching. Yes great for exteriors with a heavy texture or large areas. Saves alot of time dipping in the bucket
Awesome mate great run through. Be great for the industrial jobs with loads of block walls!
Cheers bud. Ye for sure, you'd smash masses of area out in no time
Are the standard Graco naps/sleeves polyester? I love the white microfiber sleeves because they roll so smooth and I can recoat quickly (polyester tends to take an hour or two to fully dry enough to recoat, and also spatter like crazy). It’s be a deal breaker for me if the Graco sleeves are the run-of-the-mill hardware store polyester material. It’d have to be either the tight knit polyester or microfiber to win me over… I’m addicted to the smooth finish I currently get with my current sleeves 😏 Also would have to be compatible with a pretty decent length extension pole as well.
Do I have to get a .3/4 inch cover as a replacement or 1/2 inch as replacement, pls help
it depends what size nap you want to use. 1/2 is for semi smoooth to semi rough
3/4 is semi rough to rough. hope that helps
Thanks!
Sir can I use this attachment in Wagner control pro 150m
i think wagner has its own version of the pressure roller
How do you clean one of these? More specifically, all the tubes are full of paint at the end of the job, how do you recover that paint?
Take the roller sleeve and scrape as much excess off and put it in a water bucket and clean. Then its just like cleaning an airless with an extension.
When you run water through keep the pressure low and aim the frame into a bucket and pull the trigger. Once youre happy its clean enough i would just slide the roller on and quickly blow that through too.
The roller sleeve is like cleaning a normal one. Or just price sleeves into the jobs and throw them
have you used a different roller with this setup or do you have to use the roller tha came with it? specifically, lambswool roller...?
Hi, they are specific rollers. As they have holes inside so you need to buy either the aftermarket ones or genuine ones. Available in short medium and long pile if i remember. I usually buy mine off ebay. I'll make a new video about cleaning and bits soon
If you wanted to use a normal roller then you could buy the jet roller set up. That sprays below the roller, or onto the roller
I owned 2 of them and I couldn't explained better than you. How do you like it?
Thanks alot. Yes I like it, very good for exteriors which i mainly useit for
Hi @Sprayaholic, I'm in the process of ordering the power feed roller but I just can't make my mind. Should I go for the rigid extension one or the telescopic?
I believe the telescopic would serve my needs better (interior domestic jobs) but the length is not adequate (45cm to 90cm) so can you add a hd extension pole to it? Which one would be better you think?
Thanks a million mate.
hey sorry for the delay. Yes if id have known about the telescopic id have got that. At one point i had 3 solid extensions on and it was a nightmare moving into smaler areas., the solid extension on first and then a telescopic would work well
Hi m8, that looked really good, how is on interior walls, and is worth buying, been spraying domestic houses, but always have to roll the the last coat due to touch ups, thank you for your time

Another great video. Do you use this on interiors too? Looks like its a great tool for exteriors
Hey Laura thanks for watching. I dont tend to use it on interiors but mainly on exteriors. Great accessory though I would recommend it
Great video ! So this is an alternative to the standard jet roller? Makes senthat its inline instead of just spraying partly onto the outside of the sleeve. Do you prefer this one to the standard kit? Are there any drawbacks?
Oh...and how much is the full 12 inch kit?
Cheers buddy great work 👍
Appreciate it bud. Yes this is the inline version. I really like it. I'll try do a comparison video in next few weeks.
If you wanted the 12inch youd be better off speaking with sprayman uk
Or spraydirect. The 12inch head needs the nut connection if you're adding it to an extension. If you had the extendable one it fits straight on.
Only draw back is the sleeves are.more expensive. Not loads heavier i dont think.
@@sprayaholic how easy or hard are the inline ones to clean?
Can ya use any graco extension wand or do they have to be special pressure roller wand extension?
These ones are HD poles (heavy duty) extensions. It would work with normal i guess but they could bend possibly.. the heavy duty ones are obviously alot stronger and sturdier so safer too
@@sprayaholic ok yeah definitely not the skinnier wands
Was just wondering I guess if the threads or whatever were different than ya standard heavy duty wands
Oh!and they make a telescoping wand for it also?Sweet!
@@deekoh3996 yes in the uk generally the threads are all the same so you can add different brand guards and extensions to the guns as theyre 7/8. In America i think they have 11/16 aswel.
Ye the telescopic pole looks great i saw this afterni got the normal set up. If it works with a stamdard guard and tip then that would be a handy extension if youre in varied height areas
Can you get attachments for Wagner 250m models or not
if the thread on the end of your gun is 7/8 then it will take normal extensions etc
Hi @sprayaholic . where do you get the aftermarket heads please?
The roller sleeves? If youre in the UK. I think i added some links. If youre on mobile if you click the video title it will bring the description menu down and you should see the links. Let me know if you get stuck
Anyone have trouble with the seals leaking on these after time? I’ve heard they’re non replaceable
On which part? The actual roller frame? If its the extensions they have rubber washer seals you can replace
Do you need to buy special rollers for these so the paint can bleed through ? If I’m not mistaken don’t all paint rollers have a hard plastic sleeve inside that are not perforated and wouldn’t allow this to work?
Yes you need to buy the special roller heads. The sell aftermarket ones aswel as genuine
The jet roller is the one you can use with a normal roller sleeve as it sprays underneath where youre rolling
How good are the Graco sleeves for inside paint work
How to prime it
Thoughts on the pressure roller vs the jet roller?
cool man !!!!!
Thanks for watching
Any more thoughts on the Upvc spraying Simon
I've not been doing upvc for a while. Was too busy on some big projects. Will be focusing more on that maybe later in the year or next year.
Are the sleeves like purde quality.
Does it work well with polyurethane paint too?
What pressure worked best for you?
Im sure i only had it on around 800psi
Can you use them on interior rooms?
Yes absolutely. They do different nap rollers sleeves for iy

Can I add a cleanshot onto this 1
There would be no need. This is a direct feed into the roller sleeve so there is no spray.
@@sprayaholic Have you tried both? Which is better
@@metalhead9656 the pressure roller and jet roller? Yes i have both. You get a cleanshot and 2 extensions with the jet roller so you can have multiple uses out of that.
I do like the pressure roller though as its just zero spray
@@sprayaholic I want the jet roller but have a cleanshot. Might just go with the pressure roller. Thanks mate

Dry rolling.... can see stroke marks. Add more paint.
You cant see any stroke marks when its dry. The roller is wet with paint the whole time

Good video Simon. Actually explaining and mentioning pros and cons. So many videos ( on every subject not just our game ) don’t show how anything bloody works. Well done sir. You prefer this to the jet roller ?. Stay safe mate.
Thanks Steven appreciate the feedback. Ye I do like it, zero chance of over spray or accidental spray. If mainly whites and wanting to back roll the finish you just clip the roller cage onto the frame on the jet roller and cut in with the sprayer and then use it to work in the middle areas. I always think for general use what you get with the Jet roller kit is more benefial for total use. You get 2 extensions, a cleanshot valve, inline gun, another guard and a tip, then the cage. so a lot for your money really as you can use alot of that seperatly. plus many like to use there own sleeves and you can use any with the jet roller
