- Dr Brian Kennedy on Rejuvant, human longevity trials, aging optimally and why individual response to intervention is key.
Alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG) is used by cells during growth and in healing from injuries; studies have shown it may be effective in treating osteoporosis, preventing a decline in protein synthesis, reducing frailty and, in some mammalian studies; even extending lifespan. has gone one step further, adding calcium to produce LifeAKG™, a patent-pending, highly bioavailable and ultra pure CaAKG supplement, backed by extensive research and double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trials.
Brian Kennedy PhD, who was the Buck Institute’s second CEO, serves as Rejuvant's Scientific Advisor; he is also a member of the Board. Currently, Dr Kennedy is Professor and Director of the Center for Healthy Aging at the National University of Singapore, and with a plethora of widely-cited papers on aging and longevity under his belt, he is regarded as an expert in the science of gerontology.

This was some pretty cool stuff. I didn't even realize human trials had started with Longevity.
Thanks for commenting, Matthew! We have recent longevity-related interviews that you might be interested in.
When one focuses on a recent publication during a discussion, it would be helpful to include the link to the publication. I enjoyed the discussion. Thanks
That's a great idea! Thanks for your feedback.
Please keep the newest info coming to public.
If you want to save money by buying the cheaper AKG, just the acid in powder form rather than the more expensive Ca-AKG or liposomal AKG, 2 things you should do to optomise availability to more or less match these more expensive forms:
1. Remove the powder from the capsule and mix it with an oil or fat. Fat is better as it is more resistant to stomach acid than oil. Butter, lard or coconut oil should work pretty well.
2. Only take with or at the end of a meal - preferably on a full stomach.
Together, these two will protect the AKG from destruction by stomach acid, will slow down its absorption so that the AKG level in your body is more stable and will prevent heartburn (AKG is very acidic).
Thanks for your interesting insight, Antony.
I love this and the fact that it uses natural substances as it's base. This is the type of research we must be doing.
Agree! Thanks for commenting.
Just found your channel: excellent to have another channel to go to: I can't get enough of the science of aging.
Welcome aboard!
Far far more important than supplements and pharmaceuticals is physical preparation including strength training coupled with ideal diet.
I workout hard and eat well. I could not get off a devastating benzo dependency. Intravenous NAD+ has gotten me off the narcotices and also has had extraordinary effects on my back pain and knee pain, and energy levels.
Thanks for sharing your insight, Peter!
What happened after 7 months of use? Tail off/drop off/ongoing benefit??? Too little info.
Should we be concerned with vascular calcium plaque with this supplement?
You should be concerned about heart attacks and viral replications like the herpes and could it also replicate COVID to a potent state?
AKG didn't make me feel very well at all.... and it does not transport well, the bottles were bloated from heat.
Thanks for sharing!
Cool
