Good morning Eric. Just watched my first video of yours, I'm gonna subscribe for now. When I get home from work I'll watch some more and decide if this channel is for me. You are easy to listen to and likable. Good video
Love your videos man. Gives me some insight as to what my husband must have gone through when he went to prison at 25. I’ve had nightmares about what it must’ve been like for him that young and scared to death facing a very long sentence. That was 17 years ago. We reconnected 3 years ago the 18th of this month and got married December 2019. He’s still got several years to do before he comes home. Prison is no joke. I’m already anticipating how institutionalized he will be when he gets out, but I’m in this for life so I’ll be right with him every step of the way. Thanks for the videos I enjoy your content, it’s helpful to hear someone else’s story. Much support, prosperity, and happiness to you man.
I'm glad you find the videos helpful. Having you in his life is huge! That support is super important when you're in and when you get out. It's going to be difficult at times, but having that makes all the difference. Thank you for watching. I wish y'all the best!
Some people can't handle prison I'm one of those people. I spent a week in jail and was already extremely claustrophobic and panicked and when I was leaving it was like a mirror maze it really sucked. But I can handle other things people can't like very cold rough weather and waves at least when I was younger I could.
I just found your channel and I must say that you are really good at sharing your story and experiences. I'm looking forward to watching more of your content. Keep up the great work sir!!
I'm glad you enjoy the content and thank you for being a part of the channel. If you ever have questions or video suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments.
Eric Swanson was very well put - to the point, he got his message through in a very clear way. All first days in prison are traumatic. I could identify with quite a number of details (the noise, the treatment from your fellow inmates, the food,, the remorse and what you’re going to loose in terms of opportunities while you’re locked up, the company of your family and friends). I had the advantage to be sentenced for a shorter period of time (three years) and was in my thirties, not seventeen years old. But the trauma is the same. Congratulations!
Absolutely. They call those first days "shock of capture." I am glad you are out and about. I hope you are enjoying your freedom. Thank you for watching.
My fiancé was just sentenced 25 to life. He just went to el dorado about 2 weeks ago so these videos are very interesting to see your perspective on your experience there. Thank you for sharing. God Bless 🙏🏽
So sorry to hear that! Anything we can do to help please reach out to us! It is rough and El Dorado is dirty so tell him to be careful. I would imagine he is in RDU which is the very worst of the slow time outside of seg ofc. Thank you for watching and your comment!

Glad to see a fellow musician. I see that Jackson and that "Starcaster?". What else ya got. I assume your a fellow metal runner by the intro music. Just curious brother. God Bless you and always keep'er shiny side up.
I have a Jackson Dinky Rev with GFS active pickups and a floyd rose, Starcaster (basically the low end of the Strat line), a 1978 Memphis Strat (it was a low end Japanese strat copy back in the day, but it's now considered a pretty decent guitar), a Jackson King V, a Schecter Gryphon 4 bass, another guitar that I don't even know the name of, a Yamaha f335 acoustic, two saxophones, and a violin. I am definitely a metal head, but I play a little bit of everything. I need a drumkit, but I'm afraid my wife is going to beat me up if I get any more instruments.
@@EricSwanson1 Oh yeah. I'm familiar with Memphis. Love Jacksons too. Used to have a Dinky Reverse USA Custom Shop HH in holo-swirl and an RR1 MIJ in black with red bevels. Very nice guitar. My #1 though is a 2017 Ibanez Jake Bowen JB10FX with DiMarrzio Titans in it. Absolutely a monster. Also have a MIM Fender FSR limited series 50's Stratocaster in Candy Red. Custom 60's pups. And just got a Earl Slik SL52 single humbucker Strat-Style in surf blue to play around with relicing. Been doin set-ups for awhile and wanna get into relicing. I'm what you'd call guitarded.🤪 It's so weird people used to pay to refinish and fix guitars,.... and now we pay people to mess'em all up.LOL. Theres good money in it though if you get good at it. Anyway brother. Thanks so much for the response. Love the content. You outta pull the ole King V out and shred it up for us one day. Would love to hear it. Wouldnt mind hearing that Memphis either. Have blessed day my friend. And again thanks for responding Eric.👍
@@theariesexperiment4642 you sound like you know a thing or two about guitars 😁. I want to learn more about finish work. I really want to build my own double neck. I like standard tunings and alternate tunings, so I want to build a guitar that gives me the best of both worlds. Your collection sounds awesome. I'm definitely going to pull out the King V for a video soon. You can hear it in this video ruclips.net/video/geJr0Pv13_s/видео.html and in the video on this channel about how I write music ruclips.net/video/VvrJvv1wlV0/видео.html
@@EricSwanson1 Eric,...when you say open tuning,...do you mean DADGAD, open G, open SUS??? Which 2 tunings would you want out of the bunches of tunings on this double-neck. I'm think Baritone scale for both necks. Basswood body so it doesnt weigh 500lbs, burled maple top to keep that snap and clarity. 3 piece Bubinga/roasted maple necks. Ratio tuners. BareKnuckle Aftermath pups. Gotoh hardtail 510 bridge w/Titanium saddles. Tusq nuts. Bourne nonlinear smooth taper pots. And dont paint it. Just handrubbed sealer like gunstock oil. Or linseed. It outta resonate like a beast. I think you could build it as a bolt-on build for around $900 bucks. You can pre-order that wood combo from Warmoth, Harley Benton(probably the way to go) or MJT. But that's just what I'd do. You wanting a 12/6?? Or a 9/6 with a 9 like dude from High On Fire(Rumours of War is a killer song) has. That First Act Custom Shop 9 string. That guitar is cool AF. Where the 3 high strings are double like a 12 string. Sounds HUUUUGE!!!
I was thinking something similar to dadgad, but lower. The reason I want to build my own is because I don't really want the 12/6 or the 9/6. As odd as it sounds, I'd rather have a 6/6, but hear me out. I want a dropped, alternate tuning on the bottom and something standard on the other neck for high register, melodic solos. I want the standard tuning on my top neck so I have a good wrist position for solos. I really like your hardware ideas. I would love to have something like that. I haven't really sat down and wrote down my ideas for specs on it. So far, it's just a dream. I don't have the money for it yet. I'll get it done eventually though.
With that voice you need to be a Radio Host for a smooth Jazz or classical station….Dont let anyone trick you out of your position…..Nothing but Respect ✊
Another great video, very interesting. A little off topic but being a blues guy, I couldn’t help but hear a faint sound of what sounded like old delta blues dobro slide guitar music playing in the background. Is that also your music or are you listening to some nice old Son House or Bukka White type delta blues recordings?
I knew that I was going to like you as soon as I saw and heard the intro to your video. Finally..a guy who doesn't have ear-destroying, pure crap, trash, rap music in his intro. Then when I saw the guitars behind you, I knew that you were a good guy. Especially when I saw the Jackson sitting there. You are my kind of dude. You are a great storyteller, dude. Keep up the good work. You also have a great voice. Have you ever considered getting into radio?
Thank you, Michael. I'm glad you like the music. I've always been a big fan of Jackson guitars 😁. The necks stay put. I've actually thought about getting into radio for a long time. I wanted to be a voice actor when I was a teenager.
I just came across your channel not long ago and I'm sure you speak on where you were at I just hadn't seen it yet but where did you go? Oh yeah, great vid man and testimony
I just ran across your channel by accident today. I usually listen to the afterprisonshow with Joe. I really enjoyed listening to your story, and happy that you made it out well.
I ate a lot of American Goulash one particular year (needed to save a lot of money) and I can say that its the type of dish that's easy to over cook the hell out of even if you make it just right. I can only imagine how overcooked and bad a prison version would be considering how little they give a shit.
It's pretty rough 😂. Definitely overcooked and under seasoned, and the quality of meat is the lowest available. I had never eaten anything that bad before. I though jail food was bad, but prison took it to another level. I'm not nearly as pick when it comes to food anymore. I think I could eat just about anything in a pinch. Thanks for watching!

What your mother did spitting on that dude, and the subsequent story of you guys seeing each other in the morning from opposite pods in the medication line is it a touching story. Seriously, up north of the Mason-Dixon line here we don't do the whole nuclear family thing much anymore. That's why our country is now falling apart being destroyed via controlled demolition. That’s pretty damn young to sit with that kind of weight. Couldn’t imagine, at 17 I was chasing girls, partying out in the woods with jack and Jim, and playing football. Can’t imagine.
Sure. Just a heads up though, a lot of the case info is either sealed or covered up. The cops weren't too keen on telling the public about what they did (although it got out anyway). They really pushed the narrative that my victim was a drug informant and tried to be hush-hush about my victim being a pedophile.
@@EricSwanson1 Hi, thankyou for your nice reply. The police are scandalous. They seem to have a complete inability to do their jobs. It's the same where I live in Scotland. I dont trust them at all. I respect what you did to be honest. If they had done their job in the 1st place then maybe you wouldn't of had to do that. I'm enjoying your video. It's a really different take on a lot of the other channels. You seem well balanced considering what you have been through. Fair play to you.
My victim didn't die immediately. I pled no contest to aggravated kidnapping and they dropped all the other charges. A few years later he died and they tried to charge me with murder, but they couldn't due to the plea agreement.
I dont care which crime that a 17 year old has committed, they are not to experience something like this right of the bat, they need to be somewhere else for prepping

I'm what you'd call guitarded.🤪
It's so weird people used to pay to refinish and fix guitars,.... and now we pay people to mess'em all up.LOL.
Your Mom sounds like the coolest woman EVER.
Lol, she is 😁.
Luv your Vid'z brother keep up the great work and keep doing u brother. 👍🇺🇸🗽🇺🇸👍
Thanks, will do!
Thanks for sharing your story.
I just came across your channel not long ago and I'm sure you speak on where you were at I just hadn't seen it yet but where did you go? Oh yeah, great vid man and testimony
From RDU I went to Ellsworth. Then I went to El Dorado, Winfield, Hutch, and Lansing.

Love the music !!! What's the name of the song playing ??

Thanks for sharing. Very good story.
If that was really your crime, you're doing the lord's work. Thank you
@@evocharbonneau856 i haven't heard the crime yet but based on your comment, let me guess he killed a pedo? Lol
I just ran across your channel by accident today. I usually listen to the afterprisonshow with Joe. I really enjoyed listening to your story, and happy that you made it out well.
Thank you, Steve. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm out and enjoying freedom.
Liked and subscribed 👍 keep up the good work 💪

Thanks for the sub! I'm glad you're enjoying the content.
Hello, I hope you are doing well. I just found your channel.
How was life after your time away?
Thank you for coming by. Life on the outside has had some ups and downs, but I'm doing pretty well. I got married yesterday. 😁
Congratulations to you both!!
@@EricSwanson1 Hey, brother, good for you! I hope your wife is as loyal as your Mom.....I have a wife that has stuck by my side for 27 years and have no idea why.....I have put her thru hell...drug addiction, gambling, jail time, etc.....I hope your wife is as true to you as has mine to me!
Great background music ...
Any advice for someone out there who may be facing prison for the first time?
What year where u in Eldorado?? My nephew did like 5 years there. Got done 2 years ago I believe.. bad boy.. he said it was bad
I was there from 2008 until November 2015.
You've got a good voice on tape dude. I hope you do well in your videos.
I appreciate that!
I cant even begin to imagine this...
Thus is exactly the kind of dude you want as a cellie. Cool, calm and respectful, and not dumber than a pile of rocks, unlike 90% of convicts.
About time someone is telling it like it is and not telling crazy probably made up stories keep on keeping it real Eric onya bro.
Thank you bro. Perhaps it's not as exciting as some of the exaggerated stories you hear on other stories, but it's what I lived through. I'm not into exaggerating stuff for the sake of views.
Good channel bro!

Love listening to your story and videos 🇺🇸👍👍🇺🇸
Thanks for listening. I'm glad you're enjoying the content.
Why did you go to prison?
What your mother did spitting on that dude, and the subsequent story of you guys seeing each other in the morning from opposite pods in the medication line is it a touching story. Seriously, up north of the Mason-Dixon line here we don't do the whole nuclear family thing much anymore. That's why our country is now falling apart being destroyed via controlled demolition. That's awesome👍👍✌
Really? I’m in Chicago and I know lots of nuclear families.
i've delivered to a few prisons and there was nothing wrong with the quality the main problem with jail food is how it's prepared of course i haven't been to every prison in the US
I seen a fight about a dude taking a tray and not asking the guy if he could have it. He bit part of the dudes ear off. Wild stuff man.
Yeah, I could definitely see that happening. You don't mess around with stuff like that.
@@EricSwanson1 neither one liked each other, one guy knew the trustee and got the guys breakfast tray, the guy who denied it said something afterwards and they locked themselves in the room. Nuts. One of them was my roomie.
I could write a non fiction horror novel with all the crap I seen in prison, and I myself did some pretty foul crap especially to the pedos
@@jonstuart8351 you ain't lying man.
Love mama!! I pulled a prank call on my mom told her I was a police officer looking for her baby "me" she got offense hung up called me to not come home she was selling some jewelry to send me money to run. Mom's got my back
😂
I have always wondered where do you sit for lunch the first day. Not wanting to mix with groups etc or wrong seats.
You talk to your cellie when you get there. If your first time you make mistakes and the people that have done time realize it. And educate you.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
You said a sentence of 12.8 years? That’s a good grip of time
Tough Momma, women’s gotta fight for her clan and kin. People have a right to stand their mud.
You know it!
I am facing 10 and I am 64 years old non- violent. Scared to death as an OLD MAN.
Great story about your mom bro. I did a year and the only person who seen me was mama.

Young and dumb. Glad you're turning that experience into a good example and hopefully it keeps kids out. Good job bro.
I did 45 years with no visitors or mail from my family, the only mail I ever got was the paperwork from the parole board telling me that I was approved for parole and I will be on it for the rest of my life

I work in a big food distributor in NJ and we call the janitors "porters" too 👍
Interesting! I'm kind of curious about the origins of the term now.
You got a real momma. No BS. Lucky.
How did your father die? I havent seen any episodes yet about you talking about your dad. Im sorry to learn about the death of your dad.

Japanese jujitsu, BJJ, Taekwondo, boxing, and eskrima. I like to do a little bit of everything.

Yupp but instead people want slick production values and outrageous tales with very little grounding in truth. Pathetic, really.
That's halarious. Momma went to jail for spitting on them in courtroom.

That’s pretty damn young to sit with that kind of weight. Couldn’t imagine, at 17 I was chasing girls, partying out in the woods with jack and Jim, and playing football. Can’t imagine.
It was rough, but I got through it. It's amazing what you can handle when you put your mind to it. Thank you for watching.
For real tho stay strong bro
Will do. Thank you, Tommy.
Can I look your case up?
@@EricSwanson1 Why would your case be sealed?
@@rickallen6378 because the victim was a CI in active investigations and two of the three defendants were under the age of 18.
So you killed someone and only got 13 years?
My victim didn't die immediately. I pled no contest to aggravated kidnapping and they dropped all the other charges. A few years later he died and they tried to charge me with murder, but they couldn't due to the plea agreement.
He was a pedo so who cares
I dont care which crime that a 17 year old has committed, they are not to experience something like this right of the bat, they need to be somewhere else for prepping
