The song is about an extremely distraught man who just lost his Beloved to suicide/drug overdose and is contemplating his own suicide but in the end bids his love to sleep, Rest In Peace.
The song was composed explicitly for Daniel Bolavoines voice by Michael Berger, his best friend. Lyrics by Luc Plamondom for the famous French rock opera, STARMANIA in the latter 1970’s. A little later, Daniel was killed in a helicopter crash. Several years later, Michael Berger died of a heart attack. In the 2000’s, Gregory Lamarchell sang SOS in a French singing competition, Star Academy, and won. His voice was so angelic he was often known as Angel Gregory. Sadly, within 2 years, he succumbed to a lifelong cystic fibrosis. He was heavily mourned by his death at 23. Dimash, a teenager, was so moved by Gregory’s story, he tackled learning the difficult song and went to France and sang SOS in honor of the late singing star. Dimash was well received and
appreciated by the academy.
His version was a little raw compared to the more beautifully honed version in 2017 I Am Singer which catapulted him to worldwide fame beginning with the 600 million Chinese fans who witnessed his song overnight.
Dimash’s first album went platinum in 37 seconds and triple platinum in one hour. Regardless of the allocades, he remains humble, respectful and close to his family. He is a National Treasure in Khazastan as is both of his parents. This is just the tip of the iceberg and a single step toward the phenomenon of Dimash and his journey.

Born with a great talent and then putting in the work needed to learn to master all aspects of his voice. He is clasically trained since the age of 5 and still today is training several hours a day. The result is perfection. He is amazing. Hearing Dimash is like hearing the ultimate singing, the greatest you can find.
This is Dimash's signature song, the one he's best known for singing. There are 20+ different performances of Dimash singing "S.O.S" to be found on youtube, all of them unique, going all the way back to 2012. It's said to be one of the 5 most difficult French songs to sing. Two other French artists, both now deceased, were famous for singing it before Dimash made it his own. If I was ever to be trapped on a desert island and could only listen to one song for the rest of my life, it would be Dimash singing "S.O.S". Just don't ask me which performance, because I love all of them.

Now after many versions of this song his voice has matured and I believe he has perfected his performance. This was from his digital show because he wasn’t able to hold live concerts due to Covid. The song is from a French Canadian rock opera “Starmania “. The theme is about how he has just been told that the girl he loves has died, either from a drug overdose or suicide, not sure. At the end you see him kneeling over her body questioning whether he wants to live or die. Feel the pain in his voice. I love that you love him so much. 🎶🎶🎶

Yes, I first heard SOS about 30 years ago and fell in love with it, listened to many singers do this song, even heard four men sing it in parts; but 5 yrs. ago I heard DIMASH do it for the first time and it was like a religious experience for my soul. All of the Digital Show performances from January 2021, are amazing both vocally and visually. The whole show was incredible! Many of the performances are on Dimash’s channel. There are still a couple of songs that he is yet to release from that show…. It was 1 hour and 40 minutes of pure incredible joy!

This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight.

In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old) and the first non-Chinese. Foreign participants were actually forbidden until then. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned Chinese hydroglyphs: Di - achievement Ma - precious stone Shi - dream, wish.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).

I just found you tonight.I think I caught up to you. You are a delight from one of dimashs Dears. This song may be about suicide. It’s the most sad song that Dimash does. It is his his most signature song. The furthest I can go back with him singing it is when he was 15 yrs old. I don’t know what about this song that affected Dimash to bring this passionate song to life, but every time he has sung it, it is different and a “10” every time. The song came from a French rock opera called starmania. Dimashs French has gotten better through years from the word of French people who listen to it say. I saw a version at the famous French film festival in Cannes where he sang it. Dimash makes himself vulnerable for this song at the end when he kneels on the floor. SOS is the song that introduced Dimash to the world and opened many great opportunities and collaborations for him. One of Dimash's songs I adore is “Across Endless Dimensions” because I am drawn to the songs that address our spiritual yearning for connection with a higher power. It is the theme song from the Italian fantasy film “Creators: The Past” starring William Shatner filmed in 2017. The movie was directed by Piergiuseppe Zaia, who also wrote the music track. The film’s release was postponed due to Covid but the soundtrack was released in 2020. The movie was finally released in Italy but is not available here, unfortunately. The story goes that Piergiuseppe Zaia could not find anyone who could sing the theme song and tried to splice it together using several singers. Then he heard of Dimash's incredible range from The Singer's competition and invited him to perform this song. And so now we have this wonderful invitation to fly high with Dimash on golden wings. I am with you. Dimash has ruined other music for me pretty much because I compare everyone with Dimash. I still have a few I like but Dimash I am totally addicted to. Not only do I love his music but the person he is. In fact his entire family are just beautiful people and I honestly have a great deal of respect for them. He does an amazing cover of All By Myself. He also does, My Heart Will Go On from Titanic and I promise you will not hear Celine's voice anymore after hearing his. Oh, and Love Is Like A Dream? I gasped out loud at least twice during that song. At the very beginning and again near the end and yes that is the only thing that made me take a breath.
