I have watched a lot of Dimash. I particularly like reaction and analysis of amateurs and specialists. I have learned so much. It strikes me that he has what must be the best supporting team in the world, considering the variety of his talents his output and its quality.

There is yet another version that is my absolute favorite. He actually has 100 dombra players opening up the song for him and it's soooo incredible. Then, the light shines on him and he's also playing a dombra and he's dressed in this beautiful ethnic outfit and he looks exactly like the Prince that he is. Just beautiful. That version is MUCH more intense than this one. And nice of you to notice that Dimash DOES self conduct all the time with this songs. Here's the link if you would like to my favorite version: ruclips.net/video/Ra4v19Rp6cQ/видео.html

I love this song, but I love the version from 2017 Bastau concert. It has those 100 dombra students playing the song Adai before showing Dimash playing the Dombra too. Then the song Daididau of course and how emotional he got.

    • @josephanna9349

Yes the Bastau version is best. For this song Dimash needs an audience that listens to him. So this version is my least favorite.

I also love this song, but it's a song that always makes me sad instead of comfortable.
This song is very sad and it tells about a very dark time in the history of Kazakhstan, not so long ago.
The Kazakh poet and writer Magzhan Zumabayev was sentenced by the Russian regime to 10 years in prison for conspiracy in 1929 and imprisoned. While in custody there, he was falsely (probably more intentionally) told that his wife (her nickname was Daididau) had left him. If I am correctly informed he is said to have written the lines of the song in prison (as a letter to his wife), probably to express his deep sadness and despair over is.
Although he was released in 1934, he was arrested again a few months later and was executed 1937.
The lyrics of this song are so sad I could cry every time I hear it. It never leaves me unmoved. Even after hearing it so many times.
I was at his concert in Düsseldorf and he sang this song with us Dears there too. This song is one he always performs in his concerts, plays the Dombra (a Kazakh folk instrument), and asks his Dears to sing along with him in his Kazakh language (he looks like a Kazakh Prince with his traditional clothing). Every Dear knows many of his lyrics in Kazakh and loves to sing his songs with him at his concerts.
I find it incredibly impressive and wonderful how a single man manages to bring together so many people from meanwhile 150 different countries and continents with so many different views in politics or religion, with so many different languages in a common group and to celebrate peacefully together and to sing in his own language. You always can see how proud he is of his country and how happy and moved he is when the audience sings with him in his concerts🥰.
    Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

The band IMMINENCE with one of these songs or all the songs. These are new songs that don’t have a music video to them. These are visualizers for the new album “The Black.” All of these songs are amazing….
    1. “Beyond the Pale”
    2. “The Call of the Void”
    3. “Come What May”
    4. “The Black”
From Sweden and singer plays violin while singing and screaming.
These are four songs that are on the storyline and our visualizers by themselves. They are amazing songs so if you feel free pick one or if you want more pick all of them.

The song speaks of the composition of Magzhan Zhumabayev, who is considered an exponent of Kazakh literature. When in 1928 he was sent to prison, and later sent to camps in North Karelia, Russia, Zuleikha (wife of Magzan) followed him, no matter where he was taken, she always found him and came to see him everywhere. She went to great lengths to get him released from prison in 1936, even asking the famous writer Maxim Gorky for help. During his prison term, Zhumabayev received the lying news that his wife had abandoned him, in this sense Daididau was written as a lament for the lost love and suffering of the nation. But contrary to what he thought, outside his wife worked hard for his freedom and in 1934 his sentence was reduced and he was finally able to return to the family. Unfortunately, in 1938 he was forcibly taken to the concentration camp and executed.

👉 DAIDIDAU is a poem written in prison by Maghzhan Zhumabayev.
Thanks to the great performance of Dimash Kudaibergen in 2021 (Dimash Digital Concert). Daididau is now the most famous Kazakh song in the world.
The true story: The poet Maghzhan Zhumabayev was in prison in Stalingrad (now Petersburg/Russia) and had just been informed that his wife had left him. This song was his answer. He named his wife Daididau (it could be derived from 'дедім айдай ау' - the moon-like one.) It was false information, a way to torture him and others arrested for conspiracy. Also through Gorky's (a famous Russian writer) intercession, Zhumabayev was released. He saw his wife again, but only for a short time. He was executed by the Stalin regime in 1938.
The widow secretly collected all his poems. (They were banned until 1989).
This song was first used in the Kazakh-Soviet film 'Shanyrak' directed by Edige Bolysbayev and thus became known and very important for the Kazakh people.

I came to Joel's video for Smoke and detected that he didn't like it. So I read the comments but didn't watch the video or comment directly. I didn't want to be tempted to get angry & overreact, as my opinion of the song is that it is deceptively simple & is actually pop genius. I agree that a reactor should be honest, & if they don't like it they should say so, as long as they're respectful. Now I would say that those who don't like Smoke just don't really understand it, but hey, my opinion LOL. I definitely don't want to be an overzealous Dear, beating reactors over the head because they disagree, & in the process causing many reactors to stop covering Dimash altogether! There was only one reactor who I made a somewhat rude comment to recently, the British guy who had his baritone singer father as a guest. The reactor himself loved Dimash, but I thought his dad was really pretty offensive and prejudged Dimash before he even heard a note. He seemed to want Di to perform everything according to his own personal taste, and was pretty unfair. He said he wanted to hear more songs with less audio & visual effects, but I had the impression that he had his mind made up & will never like anything by Dimash. I did get a little bit rude in my comments on that video. Normally if I disagree with the reactor I might try to make a case for the song or performance & state why I like it without becoming aggressive, attacking & offending the reactor.

@@FretsOnFire I agree with everything you said. I think anyone who thinks Smoke is a simple song is only listening for Dimash's vocals and not hearing the music behind it.
I don't think you were unfair in criticising that reactors father, it really appeared that he had already prejudged Dimash and found him wanting.
I love that Dimash always wants to give us the best he is capable of, both musically and production wise. If we want to just listen to his vocals we can do that on Spotify etc, if we want to see the epicness of a Dimash performance then we go to RUclips.
When he performs he wants us to have a total experience both audibly and visually, if he didn't his concerts wouldn't be the amazing affairs they are as he has total control and I'm all in for everything he wants to do. I love his high octane songs but even I just want something that I can actually sing along with and dance to and I'm grateful to have finally found an artist who gives me everything I want regardless of what mood I'm in.

@@debbiemorgan859 Thank you Debbie, I agree with you 1000%! Regarding what you said about people focusing on only his vocal - I was thinking about the chorus when he goes to the highest harmony. Watching the stunned effect on different reactors, I thought "those notes are high, but most of them have probably heard Di sing even higher. Why the surprised reaction?" It occurred to me; that "bubbling" synth sound that comes in at that point is having the effect of "amplifying" the high notes. Your ear goes to the vocal, but that sound underneath really accentuates it. Very clever arranging! I guess credit for that would go to Dmytro Gordon.

That is one of the videos in which you can activate the subtitles. Daididau's performance at the Bastau concert is more in line with traditional instrumentation. In fact, before the start, 100 young people appear playing the dombra as an introduction. I recommend that presentation.

Dimash loves variety! That's why the instrumentation is always different, as well as the stage, whether stripped down or glitzy. He loves to mix it up, what you don't get in one performance of a song, you will probably get in one or more other versions. Personally, there are a few songs and performances I may not like as much, but I will still watch them repeatedly because really, I still love them! To me, I haven't heard a Dimash track that I hated, only some I didn't love as much as other versions. And if I take the ones that I don't love as much on their own merits, without comparing, then I love them even more!❤😊
