My expectations were so low that I am genuinely impressed.
i know his guitar playing was sloppy but actually pretty decent his singing voice could be good if he practiced more
Bahaha. Same. This dude is so full of himself that I thought this would be garbage. But it wasn't half bad.
I'm not 100% certain Seagal is actually playing the guitar. His strumming style does not always match up.
Yeah I'm having a hard time figuring out what he is doing@@stevelibby6852
@@stevelibby6852 He's for sure playing but obviously there's another more proficient guitar player also playing. It's mostly beginnery pentatonic licks being played a bit sloppy by segal but tbf lots of players play sloppy like that live.

He’s actually better at guitar than most other things he does
He's a master of lying, running like a girl, eating, changing ethnicity, human trafficking and se*ual assault. He does all of that better than playing the guitar.
I am a guitarist, my wife is an aikido black belt; we agree that his aikido is better than his guitar, but it's not a very high bar.
That ain't saying much
@@user-cf1vb6op5h You'd be surprised how many casual guitar players there are. I'm a guitarist, I play by ear, I'm decent at timing, I know the scales sorta, can do rhythms and leads, but get me singing at the same time? NOPE. I can sing and play my own stuff, but other peoples music is something I can't and he can.
He should've went music full time lol.

I think what most people appear to missing about this performance is that,

I don’t think it’s not that bad. He hit all the notes in the blue pentatonic scale. He has an excellent choice of note per chord. He can bend and hit the right note. Overall it’s a decent performance
Yeah i think its decent choice of notes but sloppy as hell
pretty good imo. years ago, from his playing, i learned a blues chord i had missed (9th note in b7 chord iirc)
I don't mind sloppy - Hendrix was sloppy. Garcia was sloppy. But although he is competent, these "licks" are straight out of a beginners' lesson book. This guy couldn't get gig without his fame
I don't think it's not that bad
Yeah as a guitarist, its not bad at all…he actually hit a notes that has bluesy feel…
most underrated guitarist ever
He's got that "Guitar Hero" picking.
Rhythmically impaired.
Jeff Beck picks the same way but no one will compare Seagal to Jeff Beck.
Wes Montgomery picking. He's a serious player, yo
There is no right way to pick a guitar. It’s all about what works for you and the sound you are trying to achieve.
The fact of the matter is "Guitar Hero" picking is a form of picking that is very acceptable among blues guitarists due to the tonal qualities involved in just using your thumb.
Seagal is an example of a person who fell upwards in life. Very little talent but lots of opportunity.
That's just complete bullshit. You're shit excuse of a human.
singing and playing at the same time is actually hard. He is quite decent in the guitar with that unorthodox style of playing with his thumb.

"I've been playing guitar for 75 years" -Steven Seagal.
They call it a skippy
Once didn't even sit his guitar down, while he was teaching Silva how to punch.
He plays the blues with an air of confidence rarely seen these days.
Sensei Seagal is not only a master blues guitarist, but a skillfull lyricist who can improvise lyrics from the top of his head like no other. Demonstrated at 2:57, the original lyrics being "Man, she's a no good doney - They shouldn't allow her on the street, yeah", Seagal characteristically improves upon the lyrics with angelic phrases, seemingly drawing inspirations from long dead poets.
"Well that's a no good darling, would that me ain't go, ain't no feet".
Truly, one of the linguists of our time. He clearly expressed the human condition of how an amputee feels in modern society. Brought me to tears, just like his acting.
Maybe that's why he prefers to sit down most of the time 🤔
Ok...memes aside...this ain't half bad. It's a pretty basic blues rock performance, but it is competent. Steven's guitar playing is also not bad either. He uses his thumb to pick the notes, and that's something that a lot of old blues guys did to get that very thick tone. His fretting hand stays busy with some basic to even advanced pentatonic scale runs. I mean, this is definitely a solid blues rock performance. It suggests that he has a real genuine love for the music. It is a soulful performance. I dig it Seagal. I really do.
👍🏼👈
I agree lots of the licks landed well. But the signature lick of that song, the one that’s repeated a hundred times, is a little too fast to be played with just your thumb, even if that thumb has killed men.
Yeah but they use their other fingers too not just their thumb. The thumbs for the bass line. Middle and pointer are lead
better than modern Motley Crue or Guns and Roses

you did? shit if a basic blues riff is enough to win you over that's kinda sad.
The total performance was okay. I played it for my band not saying who it was and it was okay by them. He loses it here and there, but okay. The best shredders are always overshadowed by those that perform (sing and play), at least audiences that actually want to hear/dance to songs. And adept composers also are higher on the scale than shredders too.

Yeah theres many times that happens especially the rythym parts he is playing some of those cruddy repetitive licks though it seems.
That is the power of aikido from Sensei seagal.
There are two guitars. During the verses he's playing along with the bass. You can tell he's actually playing because at one point his guitar has feedback and he turns the volume knob down, and then seconds later he _forgets_ he turned it down and in a panic grabs his guitar's cord, thinking it got unplugged.
EDIT-which, by the way, in and of itself is hysterical. Must be all those asses he kicked, causing him to be forgetful as he wistfully remembers the days of being an unassailable badass. He's still a badass now, of course, but back then he was an unassailable badass.
Lol…you’re not a guitarist…
"Steven Seagal wears 2 watches because I'm Steven Seagal" -Steven Seagal
Can’t help but truly dig it
Legend has it Seagal once heard a type of music called ‘the cyans’ and later stumbled across another type of music called ‘the magentas’ and had the brilliant idea of combining them into a new type of music which he referred to as, ‘the blues’.
When Steven was studying Asian martial arts in Far East, his sensei revealed to him a secret, ancient technique of playing string instruments with a thumb only. But this pertained to one string instruments of Far East. Steven's genius allowed him to use this while playing a six-string guitar.
