    I was having problems with choosing a font for my project, finding your channel was indeed salvation. This video was very helpful and answered all my question in a span of 15 minutes while longer vidoes couldn't make it in 30 minutes and more (they had more water in them then the bathtub full of water and spoilt milk!). Subscribed. Absolutely will share your channel to anyone experiencing font related troubles.

      @@PimpmyType The thing is, the information most of the videos give can be concluded in one sentence: "you just have to naturally be able to pair fonts, that's all". That wasn't good enough answer for me, so I decided to dig deeper. I'm a natural born artist, I know how to combine shapes, but I've never thought to look at fonts the way I look at other things. Before I found your channel I never considered the difference between the lines, weights and spacing. Most of the channels just give you general information but no base to work with. How am I supposed to pair fonts if, let's say, I'm not an artist and I've just started my journey? Yes, now I know there are open and closed typefaces, but that knowledge doesn't solve my problem of not being able to pair fonts. Your channel, on the other hand, and the information you give are based on a solid foundation which you also share. I swear to everything I have, enthusiasts like you are the reason this world still exists and I'm not exaggerating. You are the reason why I look at my projects and feel good about my font choices. You are the reason why I feel more confident while pairing fonts because you gave me the understanding of how it works. You are the reason why I stay away from Open Sans.
      Excuse my ranting, I should probably stop. I'll end up by saying two things:
      1) if you seek you find;
      2) this channel and your work deserve more recognition.
      Have a good day, stay safe and know that your work makes more impact than you probably think. Never change, continue teaching, you're very entertaining and intelligent, and always keep in mind that there are people out there who greatly appreciate your work.

    Very helpful. I've been in typography for a long time, but still thought font pairing was more subjective. This gives a great basis for pairing and breaking rules where it makes sense.

    One question, at 6:45, why the "o" the "Megatypos" is considered diagonal stress, because it looks vertical stress to me.

    • @PimpmyType
      @PimpmyType  2 месяца назад

      Thank you! Well, you do not always need to strive for contrast. If you want a similar typeface regarding the form model, then you can choose each row. Also the middle one. Hope that makes sense.

    Cheers!

    • @PimpmyType
      @PimpmyType  2 года назад +2

      Work sans is a great typeface, a bit overused though. It needs quite some space, but it will work for headings and body text. A cool alternative that is a bit simpler could be the free font Plus Jakarta Sans: pmty.pe/plus-jakarta-sans/. Hope this helps you!

    I'm having trouble identifying differentiating characteristics between the Dynamic and Rational Linear Serif examples used in the Matrix from the video.
    I see the double vs single storied ‘g’ and the lower part of the bowl of the ‘p’ but that's about it. Even the difference in apertures is not huge.
    Basically I don't see much of a diagonal stress in the Dynamic Linear Serif.

    • @PimpmyType
      @PimpmyType  7 месяцев назад

      You’re right, it’s not that easy to spot. The angle is very, very subtle. The apertures are more of a hint here. The more open they are, the more you can assume it’s dynamic when looking at e or a. The more closed they are, the more rational it might be. Hope that helps a bit?

    ery interesting approach. One question though. At 6:45 you denote diagonal stress on the 'o' in Megatypos, but I fail to grasp that one. I could understand it in a font like Cooper Black where the o is slanted backwards, or in the EB Garamond image at 7:44 with the variation in stroke thickness, but maybe I'm misunderstanding or missing something?

    • @PimpmyType
      @PimpmyType  2 года назад +1

      Sorry for the decade not responding, Tom 😳. At 6:45 it is suuuuper subtle and very little obvious. But you got it exactly right. It is how you described it with Cooper Black or Garamond.
