Best mechanic i ever met fixed my truck with a handful of pittsburgh wrenches, a screwdriver and a bfh. I had to have him fix it after the guy with the snap on chest full of snap on tools f'd it up.

I did the same job with a $60, 300lb capacity cart from Amazon, a 3 drawer tool box sat on top, helmet, grinder, and gloves on bottom.
I shook my head every time snap on and cornwell trucks pulled up.

Me too! I was actually in service around the time we transitioned from the m16 to the m4. I preferred the m16 yeah it was bulkier but the extra barrel length really made the 556 come alive.
I recently spent the most I’ve ever spent on a build. I got about 1100 in a aero build that includes optics and everything. For many years I rocked a psa build that I had about $350 in. Psa products are great and my $350 rifle has over 6k rounds thru it going strong. Would have no issue grabbing it to defend my family.

Mm. I met a fellow just as you describe, back in the day. He harvested just the bare minimum to feed his family, and was a strict conservationist in every other sense. A real steward of the land. It wouldn't have EVER occurred to me to drop a dime on the guy.

My husband and I only buy from PSA my husband is retired MARSOC RAIDER USMC 16 year's 9 of that was in Iraq and Afghanistan,i spent 12 years as a deputy sheriff here in Florida, Mine and his personal choice for AR's is that exact rifle your showing except my old man wanted a traditional style and has the carry handle,All these cod guy running around I call Walmart warriors are idiots, Besides PSA having great prices they have solid products and customer service is outstanding

… those numbers don’t math homie … no one spent 9 years over there deployments are broken up by 6 month stents sometimes shorter for Special operations … and its mandated they have to do a workup which can take approximately 4-6 months in addition to leave 30 days per deployment in addition to mandate of 6 months between deployments mandatory so people don’t go full ptsd

Just because people have nice equipment doesn’t mean they don’t know what they’re doing or talking about 🤣 information on training, tactics, and firearm proficiency is out there for the public. I’ve seen some really embarrassing women police officers who get manhandled by the person they’re trying to arrest. That’s a liability.
PSA ARs are severely underrated. I'm proud of my really nice rifle I built myself but my PSA honestly shoots close enough. Just lacks a few bells and whistles that are easy to add.
I still have not met a person with a DD, BCM, KAC, Geissele, or any other high end rifle who doesn't shoot often. 99% of the time those guns are purchased by people who are honest to goodness ENTHUSIASTS and they shoot A LOT. Every time I'm at the range and I see someone with a cursed build its always a PSA, Anderson, or Radical. I've seen guys with their red dot mounted all the way forward where you'd normally put a front BUIS and they had a PSA. Thats fine, I could tell they were new to the hobby and I tried to give them some advice. "Hey, mount that optic on the upper because it is more rigid."
Everyone starts with something cheap and if they enjoy shooting they move up as soon as they have enough cash and rarely look back.
It's more of a mixed bag. Maybe it's because you shoot that's who you run into. However there are A LOT of high end AR safe queens. After watching countless meltdown videos and the like I have learned there's not much difference functionally between an S&W AR or a Stag and a DD or LWRC besides aesthetics. If you clean and lube your rifle it will fire.

Tula really isn’t as bad as everyone says. The 90’s are over. Sure, it’s dirty and isn’t match ammo (obviously), but I’ve shot plenty of brass that was worse. If you’re just training with it, I don’t see the issue. I routinely shoot it through my pistol at 100 and rifle at 300 on 2/3-sized IPSC targets. If parts wear was a real concern, you’d figure out the savings from buying it far outweighs an extractor or even a barrel.
When it comes to bulk training and drills I would rather just train with 22lr. It's insane how cheap 22lr has gotten. $0.06/rd vs $0.60/rd
I got 5k through at least 2 psa rifles, and they both feel really solid still. Springs are still good, trigger is still a crisp 6-7 ish pounds, still as accurate as they were when I got them. Unless you're gonna be running 3 gun competitions with it or something, just get a psa.
Ive got a $300 remington pump action that was made in the 80s with chepo walmart ammo and i dont miss a deer. My buddy has expensive rifles and the top of the line ammo.......and has missed 2 deer a year for the last 4 years.

Yes you can use budget gear and still maintain lethality the gear you buy can make specific jobs easier. You are free to set your gear and budget however you want. Just because you can afford a Lwrci doesn’t make you good but the same can be said about the budget guy. Training is training
Ya mine isn't fancy. But I had an army ranger, paratrooper (old school type, idk if you need to be a paratrooper to be a ranger or whatever) help me sight it, shoot correct, and also try some other fun mechanical stuff. Now it shoots amazing
I’ve had several ar15s, none cost me over 1 k and all shoot better than I can. Not that I’m a terrible shot but once the sights are dialed in, basic marksmanship should provide enough skill to hit a decent size target out to several hundred yards; well beyond what I would really need.
I have to be honest, guys.. the only people I actually see doing the real training ARE the ones with the expensive stuff. I just don't see people with shot timers, running actual drills and wearing kit and rocking a PSA. I support PSA, but this idea that people either buy a cheap gun and shoot a lot, or expensive gun and can't shoot just isn't real.
I’ve met a few that train with shot timers and drills on a regular basis. I’ve also met people that have 2 safes for the amount of expensive ones he owns but doesn’t train.
Just because YOU don’t see them, doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
You don’t need a shot timer a full kit and expensive rifle. If you’ve played baseball before “a $400 bat doesn’t fix a $4 swing”
Thank you! This is 100% correct. Time is money right? If someone will only devote $700 to a rifle, they aren’t devoting much time. All the serious people I see have multiple nice rifles and are up in the 5 figure round counts on each. PSA is a great entry level rifle, but like you said, the idea that it’s one or the other isn’t real.
Truth. Majority of them buy a crap ton of stuff and then say they don’t have money for training. This is just an excuse to validate their purchases.
Reminds me of when I got my ccw someone had brought his brand new fn 57 to take the class and almost failed to put rounds on the target and I took it with my canik tp9 and has zero issues but I’ve been shooting for a couple years now not brand new with a expensive gun 😂
Videos like this really help a newbie like myself not to make those mistakes. But a Daniel defense is going to be my first AR because why I start with something small that you have to spend more money to upgrade. I want the best platform to begin with because everybody said buy once cry once!! But there is no substitute for experience

It’s funny, people hate on the expensive brands like DD because “that’s a pretty boy gun” but what if you actually use it right? What’s wrong with spending money on something better? If you’ve put a couple thousand rounds through that it’s gotta have some pretty serious maintenance where a DD might be more reliable for longer
Nothing wrong with that whatsoever. There are plenty of people with NICE rifles that shoot regularly. Nothing wrong with a cheap rifle either, they all go BANG! Just train and buy what you like.

I have Aero’s, BCM’s and a Geissele and they’re great. But the AR I shoot the most is S&W M&P 15. 8K rounds and one broken extractor she still slings

I have a 10 year old DPMS. First gun bought for about 400, has probably 3-4k through it and I don't think had ever malfunctioned and it shoots better than I do (ran 3 gun with it for a few months). I trust it if the country goes to pot.

Magpul MBUIS Gen 2 flip ups. Have several and they’re all great. There is a Gen 3 version too now.

This is true but at the same time I feel like people who own PSAs use this when they’re jealous of people with more expensive rifles, I’d say there are more people who own Daniel defense rifles who actually know how to shoot than those who own PSAs and know how.

What’s the difference between a cheap AR 15 I get at a pawnshop and a Gucci out rifle. I’m pretty much fine if my $500 pawn shop rifle I don’t understand why people put so much money into it.

For real catch a holiday sale get a solid hammered Crome lined barrel upper no BCG or CH get a nickel boron BCG & premium CH a lower with nickel polish trigger less then 500 you have a very affordable reliable riffle good optic and buy ammo more ammo and train be fluent with your weapon
Daniel Defense from someone who builds his rifles part for part who owns a Noveske but even then still prefers to build his own rifles (more for personal preference) can say aside from the barrels and the ris 2 and 3 handguards Daniel Defense is just a over priced Milspec.
Buy what you can afford, but I look at more than just the price tag. I’d rather spend slightly more if it means better quality of parts. Trex Armory has a good video about this topic
If people actually took a few training classes from reputable instructors and actually run their guns, they would understand videos like that.

A novice who’s buddies told him that a DD was the best😂 he drops a couple thousand in the rifle and can’t hit sh*t😂 it’s not the gun people it’s the one behind the gun, it takes getting to know your firearms and training with your firearm. Then you will see that a $2,000 rifle is no better than a $500 rifle.

I have an AR with a PSA upper and when all was said and done it cost me close to 2 grand...I built the rifle myself, so I hand picked each piece of the rifle and built it to my standards... Does that mean I'm one of those guys too? Just wondering about my status...

Sweden encourages all their civilians to be prepares and be trained with weapons to defend themselves against an invasion. We need to get back to teaching our kids early on to shoot and be capable of defending themselves. That’s the way it was in the earlier years in America. So many have lost that nowadays leaving themselves and their families totally helpless.
all these gun nuts and 80% of them couldnt even run a mile or do a single pull up. a 5yr old girl could shoot a 5.56 rifle and Daniel defense quality and reliability is worth it compared to someones Frankenstein ar build that doesnt cycle 100%

I’m so tired of the overused argument of buy a cheap gun and more ammo. Most of the people not buying ammo are the ones who can’t afford better guns. In reality, all the guys I train with have multiple nice guns and tons of ammo through them. Typically, it’s the person with the cheap gun who hasn’t trained much.
Truth. This is just an excuse for them and their validation. These guys should start promoting getting training instead of this.
Usually dudes who buy cheap guns don’t train. Dudes who train get better and therefore want/need better equipment. 🥴🤷♂️
