I imagine yours will be much 'better' than mine. But, it really doesn't matter as it's actually the doing that helps - though the chuckles help too. By the way - I feel that you could have chosen a better word than 'wonderful' for my efforts - sticking with the w - how about woeful??? You are FAR too kind. D

@Cheshirelass Ahhh you've made me smile again and feel very far from woeful. :-) 😀
      Dee's garden is a haven
Of flowers and bees and birds
      She helps us every day
With her wise and cheerful words
      So far from being woeful
      They're a cool refreshing breeze
She's hearing sounds and counting all the different things she sees
A helpful plane has just flown by
      A very distant sound
Thank you Dee your words and smile
Help us all feel ground (ed)

    Finding peace distracting the senses
Have a hot shower and wash hair then moisturise your dry skin .
Have a cup of ? Miso , tea, coffee, ?
Feel your heart beating and staying with you continuously.
Hear your breathing coming naturally to keep you alive while you're anxious

Oh my gosh Dee. Always looking so lovely, calm surrounded by a beautiful garden. I can’t believe you are telling us to do something…and I am very ‘ditzy’, and I do it…dear Dee. Was a quiet weekend. Just me and my cats. A few chores and reading. But I knew my grandson was coming back. Oh dear. I walk around singing and making up songs when he’s not here. I do. I know a bit about the senses and helping to ‘ground’ oneself. I think I’m a highly sensitive person. Born this way. Noise, loud yelling, chaos, bright lights, too many people talking at once….I seem to have always felt that I just ‘don’t fit in’. And yet…my life’s path..coping with so much trauma …has been overwhelming and a bit of a huge challenge for me.
I’m not going to go on and on about my grandson ‘s issues….but he’s been with me for over 6 months now. He’s working…but he’s certainly not the little first grandchild I practically raised (in between full time working…and dealing with some dysfunctional adults in my life, including my ex, my mom and my grandmother). I was so happy to become a grandmother (daughter had some issues, genetic I believe…from my ex.. and became pregnant when she turned 17 yrs old), and there were many ‘talks’ between my daughters and I about intimate things..I wanted them to come to me with any issues/questions (it was much different with my mom who considered some topics ‘taboo’ so she’d not respond to me)…but it happened anyway. I knew I’d love that child..so I accepted this information…even tho my mom was going berserk when she found out…because I knew, simply put, I’d love that innocent child and loved my daughter and the ‘boyfriend’ was 2 yrs older and, and after meeting his parents…we became close. Sorry..a ramble.
So this grandchild moved to another state when he was 11 (with his dad) and he gradually changed. As we do as we age. But…he did not become more mature, empathetic and loving. After high school he got involved with the wrong type of people and we didn’t see him regularly. I’m not sure it’s because of genetics (my ex) or being introduced to booze and drugs (I guess his dad wasn’t concerned). My daughter married a narcissist….and had 4 more children within 14 yrs. Oh yes….I’m trying to get to the point, Dee. Sorry.
Anyway, that grandson, 33 yrs old now, who is staying with me in my tiny home has messed up a lot. This is the 3rd time I’ve taken him in. His dad threw him out. Dawn (my daughter) passed 13 yrs ago..heart issues. So he winds up with me. And I helped to raise all the other grandkids also. Not easy. All grown up, relocated and they seem to be doing ok. Except for the eldest. Who can’t seem to figure out ‘life’. I’m not a professional and he’s been to a few therapists …who haven’t helped.
So it’s been very chaotic for my mind and body to ‘go with the flow’ since he’s been back. I’ve always had anxiety…but humming or softly singing and rhyming words must be my ‘go to’ for when I’m upset, anxious, overwhelmed. Alone..in my home. Weekend was restful. But he’s back. Complaining about the heat. Hasn’t given me any money (he’s got too many unpaid bills)…and he’s annoying me lately. I’m not up for this challenge. I can’t explain it…but I think he thinks that ‘life’ revolves around him. He’s important. Others are not. So his immature, dysfunctional attitude caused the anxiety and annoyance to arise within me. He just wanted to sleep..’cause he’s tired’.
So…I began humming and singing as I got ready for bed myself…making up rhyming words as I merrily tried to sing my way out of the annoyance and anxiety. Not loud…I do it a lot since he’s been here. And I find it does help me calm down somewhat. Amazing. I’ve been doing it for so many years. Maybe even as a child…I can’t remember…but life wasn’t all that peachy with my mom and grandmother. I do recall humming tunes. Petting my dogs, my cat, talking to my parakeet a lot (he talked back to me…smart beautiful blue Petie boy), singing softly in my head rhyming words.
Dee…I’m not sure what I’ve written. It’s a long ramble of me actually trying to explain that I do almost the same thing you do…..I’m great at it..been doing it for so long. I have always felt very overstimulated and afraid of chaos and yelling…always. I finally accept it’s part of who I am. I apologize again for rambling. I just feel like I’m explaining how I’m feeling to you…and I get carried away. This prob makes no sense…and you may think ‘this old woman needs professional help’, but I really do feel better now. I’ve calmed down for now…but..he’ll be here tomorrow, probably after work (Mondays are his 5 hour days unfortunately). I must sound like a terrible grandmother, but I do love him. I love all my grandchildren and my surviving daughter. I’m very tired, that’s all. Just exhausted.
Maybe I’m just not equipped to cope with adult humans. I feel more of a connection to non humans and little children. Always have. I will be adding the ‘5 senses’ part of your calming technique to my rhyming singing.😊
Thank you, Dee. Again sorry for the long long ramble. 😟🤦‍♀️💞💞💞

Oh Dee your videos are so wonderful ❤️ I hope you don’t mind me leaving this comment… I am extremely anxious at the minute about my marriage. I’m 29 and I have 2 kids. I think my husband is a narcissist. I feel like I walk on eggshells a lot of the time and I am very controlled. I am slowly beginning to realise that I deserve to live as well. A lot of my friends tell me I need to leave him but there is one massive thing standing in my way. I am so scared of disappointing my family for example my mum and my dad. I feel I have brought them enough shame when I was younger in how I acted and having a child before marriage. My mum occasionally sends me clippings from newspapers about how divorce is so detrimental for children and it makes me feel so guilty.
I have started recording my husband in any arguments we have in order to ‘ collect evidence’ as to how vile he can be towards me Incase I ever need to let my family hear it. Oh I don’t know what to do 😢

Hi - remember that you are not responsible for how your parents feel - hopefully they want what is best for you and your children. The children and yourself need to be your main priority. It is better for children to have parents who are happy rather than live with a negative atmosphere with 2 parents together. Being controlled and walking on egg shells is not a healthy way to be. Was feeling really anxious all weekend, just came into work not feeling great. Your video popped up and it made me chuckle doing my own poems. It really does help. Thank you so much.

You got this! We could be setting a trend here! Taken me 76 years, but -
would be great to be a trend setter
But my rhymes would need to get better
Lot of work is needed there
But better than worry and care - D
      I'll shut up now

Hi Dee. Thank you for this. ❤❤❤ A good reminder of the 5 to 1, I’ve seen this in another of your fab videos. But the poetry idea is another good one. It will raise a chuckle.
One I made up myself when I was at the dentist once was to go through the alphabet thinking of girls names, and then boys names. That took my mind of the dire dental situation! Take care xxx

Thanks - I always end up backing myself into a corner - a corner that is filled with either a very rude word or a silly made up one. I am sure that the rhythm of our steps helps us to focus - so good to focus on positive solutions to those worries. Take care and keep on writing your poetry. D

Morning Dee i have never heard of either of those before and I will definitely be using them and so timeous as I have a few things this month that are and will make me anxious 😊 I use the yoga nidra guided meditation/relaxation technique before sleeping and practice the breathing but it's very encouraging to have another 2 tequniques to use! Your advice is nothing short of heaven sent today! Big love from Scotland as always❤
