You hit the nail right on the head only 1 minute in when you said you need to be creative on a trip as it gives you something to do, its exactly the same with me and it also provides you with something to do after the trip. I think it all comes down to how much you enjoy the creative process and also striking a balance between enjoying yourself and filming the trip is absolutely vital... especially if you're travelling with others!
Quality vid, thanks for doing this 4 part series... really great advice that will help many future creators out. Making travel videos is definitely more work than anyone can ever imagine for sure!
Great topic Karl! And I love how you opened- “do you even WANT to make a travel video?!” So true though! It’s a lot of work if you don’t love editing. HK2NY was our original inspiration. Keep it up!
Quality over Quantity. I love how you've shown your trips into documentary/ T.V show style rather than Vlog (Which can get in the way of experiences). Great balance, great videos.
Right attitude .Seen far to many people who's sole concern is getting footage in the can . Fair enough they're trying to build a channel but it's got to take away from the enjoyment of the experience .
i want to give it a thumbs up, but there's 99 thumbs up and 1 thumb down and I can't bring myself to ruin the total of 100, so big thumbs up man bahahahahaha Awesome little series man, wish I would have had this last year but hey ho, I'll use it on my next travels. Thanks dude :D enjoy Japan with James :D don't forget to be slow to annoy James
Hey Karl! Went to rainbow mountain e.g. 5100m above sea level and it was impossible to film because of the thin air. Would you show the images or how would you go on? Greets & Enjoy japan!
Karl Watson: Travel Documentaries ah ok but I was talking about that I couldn’t do the shots because I didn’t get enough air to hike and film at the same time 😅 by the way the GoPro had only seconds of battery
My friend just came back from Japan where he filmed the entire trip. I asked a simple question"How was the trip?" He answer was" hmm can't remember, might have to go back again". Don't be that person. Put the freaking camera down, take few photos -that's it, just experience deeply and be fully present in that moment. Don't use your social media as well. Also read the book" The power of now" by Eckhart Tolle, very important book to read nowadays in this world full of technological distractions.
These series were great! As an editor and traveller myself I was nodding my head all the time watching these!
Thanks man! Quality content, very informative and to the point. Cheers!
Cheers 😊
