@FLP Try to play slower first. Practice to play many times until you won’t get any single miss notes.
a man of his talents, he could easily play it clean but I think he does it this way to add noise, giving more drama to it
@@felipeomatic66If you slow it down you’ll notice it’s a 4 note lick that’s repeated lots of times. It goes 1 note on the g string then 3 on the b string. In this video he Picks every single note. A much more efficient and smoother sounding way to play it would be to pick only the first two notes and hammer on then pull off the last two notes. The way it’s picked in this video makes it sound so harsh and sloppy I suspect he only did it to copy Johns sound, but it will sound far cleaner and smooth if you do it this way.
Could you do a vid on all the variations of these fast licks that John regularly employs?

I tend to be overly critical of my playing because I pretty much exclusively use a bass amp for a bedroom amp, but then when I use my proper rig I sound 10x better.

Hey there, nice playing :) Just a a quick question. Is there any particular reason why you have Big Muff first in the chain before the DS2 ? Or does it just work better for you ?
Fuzz is most heavier gain pedal so put it at first… that’s what I learned.
@@yesyuta I will definitely try that out :) I was experimenting with my muff and DS2 a lot when I got my muff, but it is a while ago now. I will give it a shot again.

that's why i got bored with Frusciante by the time of the SA tour. his playing had gotten so flashy, his tone ugly, and not much of his signature feel was left. i absolutely loved the 'less is more' approach on californication
Oh noo. I like the minimum approach on cal. But also like the intensity of the ds2 and wh10 sound.
They definitely needed to put a time limit on his wah during the SA tour
I think he somehow didnt enjoy it himself too, hence he decided to quit the band during the SA tour. I also remember him mentioning that "he is not a good performer" again during that tour. I am sorry I cant show you reference but this is how I remember from the foggy parts of my brain.
Or maybe it was his way of escape from the touring that he didn't like or enjoy.
Especially 2007 live…
Prefer his tone and playing in the early 90s. Still one of my favorites but people worship his later stuff which I think is a bit repetitive and less melodic

Icant do much by ear. My best for this time by ear is "im broken by pantera or BYOB by SOAD and at least soul to squeeze solo by RHCP
