So here's the thing about the business side of things. It all depends on how well Mike negotiates on his end. Mike is incentivized to keep the operation going for as long as possible to hopefully get back all the money the Feds took . By overpaying and having a large overhead shrinking profits take home of Walter and Jessie enough that it's still worth cooking but not enough that they decided to stop entirely before Mike's people can retain their money. This isn't spoilers that they mention in the show and should be obvious to Detectives Pudgy and Spartan. Walter is on to Mike and Jesse is clueless as ever but he's happy right now. He doesn't care and is forced on just living life to concern himself with any of this. That makes Jesse sloppy and open to being taken advantage. Again, I want to remind you guys how no one in this series is a good person including Jesse. He only uses his friends to either sell to them or run business. Otherwise they were useless to him. Remember Jesse the one that tried selling to all the rehab people and his friends had to tell him no. Walter didn't put him up to that and even tried to prevent Jesse from stealing from Gus' batch that he didn't need to sell anymore. Jesse dropped his friends and even made it into an issue which is how the whole separation and killing Combos murders happened. I know the writing makes it easy to forget but Jesse is still a Meth/ Drug dealer. He's not trying to use his money to rebuild society. He's not even using his money to clean it and start a real business. There's a story of a Mafia run pizzeria in Long Island that was a money laundering front. That one day someone out of town didn't know not buy from their Pizzeria and came in and ordered. They made such good pizza that news got around they didn't need to launder money anymore and it was confirmed by the FBI that all the profits they ended up making was legit even though originally it was a front. They literally turned their life around by making good pizza. It was in 1985 and they interviewed one of the Mafia members, Louis Piancone. THAT'S a good guy. He went from hurting people to helping people. Jesse is still hurting people by cooking Meth. He's still a drug dealer. Just because he doesn't care about paying off legacy cost doesn't make him a good guy. Those guys are going to rat on Mike and Mike will Rat on Walter. The easiest thing to do is have them all killed. Walter is right, it's indirect blackmail. Mike took it upon himself to promise to make them whole. Walter nor Jesse agreed to do so before this episode. Again, you guys are falling for basic narrative traps that Good Detectives should be able to understand all points. They're all corrupt. All bad guys. Mike decided to sneakily add in surge charges that Walter wouldn't notice and call him out on. Again, think about it like a business. It's like Patreon took more of your profits from your videos to pay off all TV series you're watching for their cut of the content you're using and then telling you "Too bad, what do you think this is YT? Just because you opened your own streaming site doesn't make you YT." If you were in Etsy or warehouse it's stolen wages coming from the workers cut instead the business end of coverage. Mike's "deal" should have come from Mike's pay but they all did the "kind" things and split the cost as a business end. Remember, Jesse and Walter were starting this without Mike and it was only after his own people started killing each other over money did he decide to join the business.

It is interesting, I was the same in the beginning with her, but a lot of reactors in their first run of the show are more sympathetic earlier with her. Of course Walt should have taken that high paying job and who knows gotten to the c suite on merit. But that’s a different show
@@LaCheeserieI think it’s because as a reactor, you HAVE to sit down and breakdown the show before and after. There’s still tons and tons of people that think Walter white is a saintly hero while Skyler is Satan in the flesh.
To be clear, everyone got Gus's motivation when it happend: the reason Gus killed Victor, was because he had been seen at the scene of Gail's murder and sending a message to Walter and Jesse as a bonus.
I think Walt wanted Jessie to break up with Andrea because he wanted to keep Jessie under his control. He didn’t want Jessie to have his own life. Walt also was lying since episode 1. He literally blackmailed Jessie day one to help him cook. That was day one Walter. The liar and the manipulator.
If he was manipulative and evil since day 1 than why the show is even called breaking bad ?? And if you are trying to say that Jessis is innocent because he blackmailed him 8n the beginning you are definitely wrong.. no one in innocent in this show ( except Walter's children) but everyone else has made terrible decisions and actions and they are accountable just like walter
I have seen this show 3 times, (I think), but watching your guys' reaction I only just realised: Walt had previously FREAKED OUT over a single fly in the lab, now they're cooking in apparently infested houses. p.s. Always rewatch. Enjoying art is never a one and done deal
And then you watch Better Call Saul and see all of the work Gus put in to have his operation that Walt torches in a year. He could have been making 10 million dollars a year for the rest of his life with almost no risk, but he wanted more.
@@davismorgan99 He didn't want more. He was perfectly happy with that situation. It all went to hell when Jessie went to kill those 2 drug dealers in the street, and Walt had to intervene to save his ass, causing Gus to want Walt our of the picture. After that Walt was just trying to survive, until he had to kill Gus.
Yall back and forth banter is life. I wish more ppl could be this way. Everyone is always so sensative or trying not to offend that they cant just have fun. Love that ya'll can. Also love the reactions. Have an awesome week. Stay great!!!!
The main reason Walter manipulated Jessie to break up with Andrea is because as long as Jessie has a serious girlfriend and a stepson he cares about then Walter and the business will always come second. With Andrea gone he can keep Jessie close and manipulate him.
Season 5 basically shows was Walt was all along….a bad guy. Throughout the first four seasons the audience keeps hoping for redemption and that he will be a good guy in the end but the ending of season 4 reveals the dark truth
I think Jesse was willing to give the money because there were plenty of times that they had made choices to do something in order to make more money, and he would have gladly paid that money to avoid the situation (i.e. expanding their territory leading to Combo getting killed ... Jesse looks back and would rather have less money and Combo alive).
16:02 I don't expect you to know, but they are watching Three Stooges. When AMC made Breaking Bad, and it first came out, it played twice and afterwards they played Three Stooges like they normally did in late hours. Its amusing that after they are done with a batch, they are watching late night AMC programming after Breaking Bad was done.
19:38 It’s wild how Walt can tells lies or bend the truth so well whenever he needs to come up with an excuse or an explanation. But, he’s never been able to lie to Skyler. He puts on these Oscar-worthy performances in front of everyone but his wife sees right through him every time. Whenever he’s lying to Skyler, you can see a difference in his ability to deceive. Bryan Cranston really was outstanding at portraying whatever we needed to see from Walt throughout the series 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
27:02 - When you realize Walt has been lying to us for 4 seasons. He told us he was doing this for his family, all while turning down a legal job that would have addressed their concerns, and making chaos every time the situation starts to smooth out. It's always been about his ego. Don't let us get to you when we give you give you a hard time about Walt...the show is done in such a way that it's meant to fool us all while giving us clues we will overlook, just as the characters in the show have. That's why this show is brilliant.
It’s fine to demonise Walt but many fans will blame him for every single thing that goes wrong whilst giving others, mainly Jesse, a completely free pass despite having many moral shortcomings himself. You mention that Walt creates chaos every time things start to smooth out but when things were all in order with Gus, it was Jesse who started skimming from the top and when he decided to kill the 2 street thugs, Walt gave up all his cred with Gus to save him.
Walt was 50 at the start of the show, then if you remember there was an episode where Walt turned 51 and Skyler made a tiny 1 for him as she was angry at Walt.
Nice reaction :) i think part of the fun of seeing reactions to BB is to see when people start to flip on walt. I think most people had a similar dynamic to you and flipped kinda late in S5 (was the same with me).
This is what I don't understand. It was obvious early on what an AH walt was and everyone kept making excuses for him and inventing some good side he didn't have. I guess people will always hope the Protagonist is a good guy. But this is why I don't watch the show, I just watch my favorite reactors. If there is no one to root for, there are no stakes in the show. It's hard to get into it when you could care less if the main character dies or not.
@@wordpainting3 i think it is a bit more layered, at least for me. I think they both kinda explain it themselves at the end. First, one is kinda on board when one watches it of what walter does. His brother in law-enforcement is a dick, a bit abusive and a hypocrite (so the law is set as being antagonistic from the start). Walt is dying and broke. Walt has no friends and nobody on his side. He is a doormat. You want to see him rise above where he is (the gutter). Then, secondly, he enters a criminal world. So if one is on board with him, you are also to a certain degree on board with him doing some questionable things, because that is the field he entered. And third, he is not a perfect human being, he has flaws. But I think it takes a while before it settles with the audience that his flaws are actually the thing that drive him completly, and not just partially. Now in S5 when there is no outside threat and the whole business is his for the taking, that becomes obvious. When it starts, we see a very timid person who comes out lf his shell. It just takes a while amd the right cinditions to see that what comes out of the shell is not particularly good.
I just don't make a distinction between all these characters like this one is moral and that one isn't. They are ALL IMMORAL CRIMINALS and yes that includes America's treasure Jesse. Walt is just the most entertaining. He's my ride or die in this band of criminals. lol
And this is why the series hits very differently on a second viewing - Walt, who we all sympathised with at first, comes out as this monster, and you can't look at him the same ever again
Love your reaction videos. Dont believe you have ever done a black and white old movie but would love to see you do Casablanca, one of the best movies ever made. The perfect valentines day movie, has it all romance, action, plot twists. Highly recommend.
The thing about Walter White is, even back then, he was never a good guy, he always had an egotistical complex. Vince Gilligan, the creator, revealed Back when he was at gray matter, him and Gretchen sparked a romance and were gonna get married. But Walter met her family who was rich, he felt inferior around them, and chose to leave, pretty much showing he chose to stay poor till he turned 50. Plus he made it out like they stole his research when in all reality he wanted the company to be all him and his only, never acknowledging their part in founding the company. and possibly push Elliot and Gretchen out of the picture. If he would've stayed, he would've whined and filed a lawsuit to be sure it was his company solely and have all the power. Personally I never liked Walter from the beginning because of the choices he made, I like the other characters more.
Most people have traits like that. You do a disservice to how everyone has a capacity for evil and how Walter illustrates that by taking Walter's worst early but small evil traits as evidence that he was always a villain. The lesson of Nazi Germany isn't that Hitler was an evil man who manipulated everyone into evil acts, it was that everyone is capable of evil and taking society to hell.
Regarding the commenters, feel free to ignore all the crusaders -- be they anti-Walt crusaders, anti-Skyler, pro-Walt... The whole point of this series is that everything's gray; anyone who attempts to frame it as black-and-white has lost the plot.
Walt really, really took it to heart when Gus told him that a man provides for his family, even when he isn't appreciated, respected or loved for it. From that point on, Walter embraced that principle. This is a form of toxic masculinity, and toxic masculinity is a major theme of the series (Hank also wrestles with some related issues). People often laud those who place their family above others, but don't seem to appreciate the extent to which doing so often conflicts with justice, fairness & even basic decency in dealing with those beyond the family. I'm not saying that Walter never acts more purely selfishly or out of ego / pride, but we all do that at times, and Walter is not much different in that regard, although he certainly has loosened the moral limits on his selfish actions as his personality adapted to his life circumstances. It's kind of funny that reactors seldom heap anywhere near as much scorn on Gus as they do on Walt, even though if anything, Gus is more ruthless. Gus didn't give a shit that some of his dealers employed a kid as a hitman, and only ordered his dealers to stop using kids to resolve a business problem. Gus resolves many of his business problems with murder, without giving it a second thought. Everyone also likes Mike (including me), but a big part of Mike's job is to intimidate, beat and murder people for money. And when he did so at Gus's behest, he knew that Gus typically was simply eliminating a risk to his operation, like when Mike was going to murder Walter because Walter had stepped out of line while trying to protect Jesse. Mike is not a "good guy" over all. You guys are riding Walt hard for not being nicer to Jesse. Overall, I like Jesse better than Walt, but I don't think that Jesse has fully proven himself to be reliable in Walt's eyes. Let's not forget that it wasn't very long ago that Walt killed two of Gus's drug dealers to save Jesse from being killed by them, all because Jesse was (rightly) angry over their treatment of a kid he was close to and didn't have any suitable way to handle the situation, and this put *everyone* in Walt's life in extreme danger, and made it necessary for Walt to find a way to kill Gus. Jesse is a source of danger, especially when he gets close to a kid. More than anything, I think that Jesse wants - needs - to be loved, but his line of work is too dangerous for Jesse to be in a relationship. Jesse needs to get out of the business. You also ride Walt hard for being very manipulative...and he is. Unfortunately, manipulation is one of the few tactics at Walt's disposal that allows him to reduce the need to resort to violence, because in the world he's navigating, violence is always one mistake away. Anyhow, I enjoy your reactions. Cheers!
I also wonder if he was sending Jesse a message by that flew to close to the sun line. For Jesse offering to pay his share. That could be seen as showing him up.
The 3 Stooges is one of those things that's a lot more well-known in the US than it is in the rest of the world, they're known by some but not to the extent of the Marx Brothers or Laurel and Hardy (and I wouldn't necessarily expect S&P to recognise those either).
It likely was a veiled threat to Mike. The way he talks to Jesse right before saying it is clearly trying to relate to Jesse about how terrible it is that Mike has interfered
When you'll see Scarface you'll realize how strange that scene in the show is if you think about it, because the actors of Hector Salamanca and Don Eladio are in that movie 😅
Walter has been a POS. He’s so selfish and manipulative. Skylar has kept his shit a secret and he goes and throws her under the bus like that. And even though Jessie has his faults and is responsible for his own choices and actions, Walt uses and manipulates Jessie. Walter is not a good person. For me, when I first watched the show, I started disliking Walt pretty early on; he was stupid the second he turned down the job from Gretchen & Elliot.
It took me this long to realize who Spartan reminds me of. Like not exactly but in little ways: Danny Ric (F1). I mean not like twins or something but I could see you two being cousins lol.
Walt probably wants them to break up. Maybe guilt about the kid or doesn’t want Jesse quitting his life or crime but getting Jesse to feel guilty about it not telling her about it is the reverse psychology shit to get it to happen.
@@yomamma.ismydaddy216 but he murdered someone who was pretty harmless and defenceless. Jesse is the nicest among st the three of them but he's still a criminal, murderer and drug dealer.
I would agree with the discussion about Walter IF he didn’t have another choice. Walt had TWO other options, 1. He could work at gray matter and make good money and have top notch benefits OR 2. Gretchen & Elliot would’ve paid for his treatment. So no, Walt gets zero sympathy from me.
But gray matter was Walt's company so he feels the money was his anyway so his pride wouldn't let him take it from them. My husbands ex has a lot of money she wasn't his boss but she hired him to fix up a bunch of properties she owned , thats how they met. Technically she still owes him money . We been in situations where we needed some help. But I know my husband would die before he ever asked her for anything. Some men they have to earn the money their self somehow their pride wont allow anything less. But I'm just a 24 year old woman so what do I know really. This is just my humble opinion.
@@C-White-88 it’s my understanding that he helped create it, it wasn’t solely his. Also, I believe it’s canon that Walt left grey matters due to feeling inferior to Gretchen’s parents wealth (correct me if I’m wrong on this). When I came across that info, It made me annoyed with Walt even more.
Your analysis on Walter at the end is better than whoever thinks he's just always been "evil in hiding" and call it a day. I'm not sure why people were blasting you for trying to understand the complexity of a character, that's the best part of the show. The degradation of his contact with reality, his life of repression that exploded into unchecked ego, his perverting every relationship into an exploitative one. These aspects are so dramatic BECAUSE he has a human side, a side that cares and is hurt by things (even those he himself does) even if at this specific point in the story, is buried deep, under a layer of alienation and complete self delusion. If Walter was just a sociopath pretending to care about his family form the start, the whole parable would hold very little power.

If he was manipulative and evil since day 1 than why the show is even called breaking bad ?? And if you are trying to say that Jessis is innocent because he blackmailed him 8n the beginning you are definitely wrong.. no one in innocent in this show ( except Walter's children) but everyone else has made terrible decisions and actions and they are accountable just like walter
i loved the banter in the begining lmao
I have seen this show 3 times, (I think), but watching your guys' reaction I only just realised:
Walt had previously FREAKED OUT over a single fly in the lab, now they're cooking in apparently infested houses.
p.s. Always rewatch.
Enjoying art is never a one and done deal
Psssst. It wasn’t really about the fly
Lol!!!!!!
24:09 And this right there, is exactly why Walt is not Gus, and will never be Gus. Perfect encapsulation of the situation.
And then you watch Better Call Saul and see all of the work Gus put in to have his operation that Walt torches in a year. He could have been making 10 million dollars a year for the rest of his life with almost no risk, but he wanted more.
@@davismorgan99 SPOILER ALERT! S&P haven't seen BCS yet.

That was a particularly great post-episode discussion.
I think Jesse was willing to give the money because there were plenty of times that they had made choices to do something in order to make more money, and he would have gladly paid that money to avoid the situation (i.e. expanding their territory leading to Combo getting killed ... Jesse looks back and would rather have less money and Combo alive).
Pudgey cracking up during promos, yup it’s a Monday. Love it
Finaly you see walt for what he is: the villan. Hehe
It’s called breaking bad and well…Walt finally broke bad.
Pause at 9:58. xD
Wow to be able to roll your eyes so far back is quite impressive. ^^
🤣🤣
when Pudgey faces you at Wrestlemania, you will... Rest... In... Peace.
Sure can
Spartan mate, Pudgey is right.😅
Todd is such a nice boy. Happily have him babysit my children.
Walter is the same from the start. It's just showing more now that Gus is gone...
I love how Pudgy just starts cracking up doing the intros sometimes 😂😂
This cook scene with the song by The Peddlers is my favorite scene in any TV show, ever.
Pudgey has one of the most likable personalities I've ever seen honestly 😂
Spartan is pretty good dude too!
@@Latexi_LMX yeah, they look like a great healthy couple
Walters ego really got big after killing Gus ....
Walt was 50 at the start of the show, then if you remember there was an episode where Walt turned 51 and Skyler made a tiny 1 for him as she was angry at Walt.
"no way he is sleeping standing up..."😭
Nice reaction :) i think part of the fun of seeing reactions to BB is to see when people start to flip on walt.
You're correct on the "Hindsight is 20/20" rebuttal. You haven't witnessed how low Walt is about to go.
Love your reaction videos. Dont believe you have ever done a black and white old movie but would love to see you do Casablanca, one of the best movies ever made. The perfect valentines day movie, has it all romance, action, plot twists. Highly recommend.
Agreed!
22:47 Exactly!
I love your guys banter in the beginning 😂.
11:20 no mention at all about how well Skinny Pete is tickling the ivory? You 2 must be Mozart on the piano I guess
I was one of the ones who said Spartan would hate Skylar 😅 hearing him joke about finding them and banning them was awesome haha
Your banter has set the bar high for reactors. People don’t get why I watch reactions and seeing couples give each other shit is my favorite part.
I doubt it was for Jesse. It was likely only meant for Mike
The way pudgy says " Agenda" 😂❤
16:14 - Can you identify the show they were just watching by the background music? That's the theme song for the 3 Stooges. It's a classic. 🙂
The 3 Stooges is one of those things that's a lot more well-known in the US than it is in the rest of the world, they're known by some but not to the extent of the Marx Brothers or Laurel and Hardy (and I wouldn't necessarily expect S&P to recognise those either).
Your reactions to breaking bad make my day💜💜
If I remember correctly, that “flew too close to the sun” line was a veiled threat/warning to Jesse.
It likely was a veiled threat to Mike. The way he talks to Jesse right before saying it is clearly trying to relate to Jesse about how terrible it is that Mike has interfered
Walter having a Homelander moment when took over the company, he doesn't know anything about how to run the business. Hilarious and dangerous.
34:42 had to remove my stinker as you just redeemed yourselves 😂😂😂
Damn! Pudgey unloaded on poor Spartan 😂

And so the gradual realisation that Walt is the most evil character in the series begins.
It took me this long to realize who Spartan reminds me of. Like not exactly but in little ways: Danny Ric (F1). I mean not like twins or something but I could see you two being cousins lol.
18:52 Walt killed Gus to save himself and his family… idk why that suddenly makes him so scary to Skyler
Walt probably wants them to break up. Maybe guilt about the kid or doesn’t want Jesse quitting his life or crime but getting Jesse to feel guilty about it not telling her about it is the reverse psychology shit to get it to happen.
Don't forget that cute, generous Jesse is a murderer.

When I came across that info, It made me annoyed with Walt even more.

petition for spartan & pudgey to watch Scarface.
I love you guys sm hahaha Keep up the reactions! Diddnt even mean to come this early LMAOO
