It would be interesting to see an entire project of yours from ideation to final product. I think it would also bring a lot of value to viewers as well
Yep, that’s something I’ve been considering. Thanks for suggesting it, I think it’s a good plan.
@@productdesignermaker Please make a video on a full project from ideation to final sketches and the process of doing it
@@PranayBhanushali will do. It’s a good idea. Thank you.
I love the use of the biro, it took me back to being berated by a lecturer when I used one for quickly getting simple ideas down on paper, advice I chose to ignore, I still to this day, use one for design scribbles, simple, quick, efficient, adequate for the context.
Good work ignoring your lecturer! When I was about 11 or 12 my Headteacher told me that I’d wasted my money buying a propelling pencil. He told me I was ham fisted! Trouble is that I believed him. He’s still alive now and it’s tempting to find him and explain the damage he’d done. Instead, I’d be thanking him for opening my eyes to how destructive words can be, when you’re in a position of responsibility. I learned more from him in that moment than I’m sure I would have ever learned in his lessons.
This method has very broad applications not only in product design but other applications as well. I forgot how liberating it is when your not bound to produce a finished item. Thanks for reminding me of the process.
Thank you. Much appreciate your comment 🙏
2D thumbnailing really allows ideas to flow freely, and you realise at the end of it that you have created so many potentially strong ideas!
Absolutely!!
Love these videos!! Keep up the good work!
Thank you!!
so satisfying :)
Thank you 🙏
Hoping to get into MassArt for fall 2021 to study ID. Thank you for sharing this! You’re inspiring a new age of designers

A video on different wood types would be cool or even various industrial materials. concrete, steal, plywood etc.
How to sketch them?
@@productdesignermaker yes, using markers and relevant pens
Good plan. Hopefully you’ve seen my video on sketching wood with markers.
@@productdesignermaker of course!

Great video mate. Do you do this step before or after the ‘gathering inspiration’ stage of looking at other designs?
Thank you. It works at any stage really. Benefit to doing it before is that you’ve not got so many preconceived ideas to interfere with the flow. Benefit to doing it after is that your sketches/ideas may be fractionally more resolved. You already have some experience of what’s out there in the market place, so it doesn’t matter about the order so much. You could even do it before and after!
Thank you @@productdesignermaker
Please upload quickly more videos
Shall do!
Hello--just curious to know what 'sticky pad' you used there?
They’re just ‘post-it-notes’.
Can you give some trick and tips for Dailey observation
Have a look at my video.... hope it helps....ruclips.net/video/K9N0nYRPSl4/видео.html
sir, what all exercises do you recommend to improve line quality?
I’ll be doing a video on this subject soon.
@@productdesignermaker yay... thanks a lot again!
Pls can you help me on how to make a shopping bag using idea development
Shopping bags aren’t really my thing I’m afraid!
hi there, I was wondering how long you take on a simple design like a plug head or bottle. I spend too much time trying to get it neat, I rough idea would be nice, Thanks
I’ll work to whatever length of time I allow myself. If I’m ideating plugs, then 1 minute per sketch. If I’m developing a new version of a plug, maybe 10 minutes or longer if I’m trying to get ready to move onto solidworks, and I’m thinking about features and sizes etc. Hope this helps.
It's rather technic to draw different shapes and it's not about "idea" it self.
It’s a technique for developing design ideas. A starting point enabling the (struggling) designer to make progress with pen and paper. The ‘shapes’ created in this video will then be used to ideate… as in this video (part 2)…
