This channel came at the right time. Struggling to draw sketches and trying to avoid the pain and frustration of sucking at it. But your videos inspire me and I've gotten better already! Thanks
At first, i thought you were going to get 20hours of getting good at Headphones, turns out you already had a foundation in perspective drawing and made some impressive and various drawings ! very motivating!
my brother, you cant believe what kind of confident you gave me with this video.thank you. i just wanna start doing drawing so hopefully someday became designer for kids toys.
Thanks Chris! That is really nice hear. Go for it. :) It is a super useful skill that less and less designers these days seem to be putting time into learning.
I want to be a product designer and I’m planning to go to AUT and it’s so cool to see what’s it like from a students perspective. and it’s funny how I recognize a lot of the locations where you film. Thanks for the inspiring videos!
Hey, im also a design student and my biggest struggle is design drawing. In my opinion you can draw 100 houres and still suck. You need cordination otherwise you are just drawing your own mistakes over and over agian
Great video! We are really enjoying watching your journey through Product Design :) We really enjoyed this video and your experiment to learn something in 20 hours! From the AUT Social Media team :)
Nice video Myrin. Great example of showing people how to push through barriers and increase self confidence - a very valuable lesson for improving life in general. Thank you =]
U must have got a lot of skill... Im doing a design study and still cant draw like this haha. what video's did you use as reference or was it really just that teacher who taught you? Dang this is incredible you can sketch like this
Hey, I wanna give it a try and leverage my sketching skills. How do I go by this process? Did you use some pictures for reference or you just start sketching ideas you thought of?
You don't !!! This guy is a joke. You do not learn to " draw " in 20 hours. Why ? Because you have step to do before being able to " draw " for example. First you need to learn to " see " and this in it self is a challenge then after that you need to learn to reproduce what you see and for that you need to learn / understand the fundamentals which are in his case: PERSPECTIVE, SHAPE/FORMS BASICS and finally still in his case ( industrial design ) proportion. This guy is actually a scam ! Why ? First for all the reasons that i just listed and secondly 1.this guy is actually filming his video in a INDUSTRIAL DESIGN school. 2. This guy is drawing next to a book of kool eissen which is an unstructor/teacher of " INDUSTRIAL DESIGN " the name of the book is sketching or sketch basics ( google it ). and finally this guy is not drawing from imagination but from reference which are in front of him in the video. So at worst what this guy is doing is clickbaiting for views which not gonna pay him anything since his channel have not reach the minimum requierement of RUclips to be able to get paid from google. And at best it's discourage you because now when you gonna hit the 20 hours mark in your learning journey you will think of this idiot and compare yourself to him and think that you are actually crap when in reality he is the one to blame for discouraging you just for the sake of money and ego. If you wanna learn how to draw ? Go through everything you find about perspective and work you way through it until you become able to turn cube and cylinder in any direction. Be strong !
I can't remember the name of it, but you will find it somewhere on this playlist - ruclips.net/p/PLGznEl712WekDoVkJ7KHElMXpbltvjXYJ&disable_polymer=true
i am currently undergoing a project where i am designing on ear headphone (similar to the ones at 6:05) and I'm really struggling on how to get the proportions right, could you give any tips or techniques???
Sorry for the late reply. Here is a pretty good tutorial on how to draw headphones - ruclips.net/video/mDwdDCAT7t4/видео.html It is kind of hard to explain proportion techniques in written form, but I will try my best. An easy way to get your proportions right is to measure all the parts of product using only one part. For example, draw the right ear muff of the headphones then establish many ear muffs long the other parts are, like the headband part might be two ear muffs long. I'm not sure if this helps, but here is an online course that I found really helpful when learning design drawing - bit.ly/2z8RU2C
Hey man I am also gonna start with Product Sketching cause I wanna become a Designer too, my question to u is like in this 20hrs challenge what was the entire schedule of yours, like how much break u took inbetween or like how much hours u did in one day and did u continue your two minute sketching after every hour of practice?
This is a pretty good course - www.lynda.com/Design-Skills-tutorials/Sketching-Product-Design-AEC/197940-2.html?srchtrk=index%3a1%0alinktypeid%3a2%0aq%3aproduct+sketching%0apage%3a1%0as%3arelevance%0asa%3atrue%0aproducttypeid%3a2
what is the best pen, that does not bleed when marker is put on it? Mine is bleeding and I have to redo the whole construction after putting marker and its making me go nuuuts PLZ HELPH
Hey dude,I'm a sophomore student from China, do you know any other good websites or videos or any advice to learn sketching? By the way, I'm deeply impressed by your video,it's fantastic!
I did this challenge while doing a design drawing course at uni, so my lectures told me what to get. What you will need are the following: -A3 copy paper - A black ballpoint pen - Copic markers - A black felt marker for thick lines (optional) - Metal Ruler - A set of French Curves (optional) - A circle and oval stencil set (optional) Hope this helps
No, they are really just the same thing. Product Design was the original name for designing physical products, but in recent years what happened is that software also became known as a "product" and so we needed a new term that referred more to the physical products. Thus, people coined the title Industrial Design. There's a bit of history for ya. ;-) Basically, if you want to sound creative in conversation say you study product design, but if you want to sound smart and technical say you study industrial design. :)
Thou you are right, it IS just recent history. :) Wiki: The first use of the term "industrial design" is often attributed to the industrial designer Joseph Claude Sinel in 1919 (although he himself denied this in interviews), but the discipline predates 1919 by at least a decade. Christopher Dresser is considered among the first independent industrial designers.[14] Industrial design's origins lie in the industrialization of consumer products. "product design" is a wider term, coined much later, and encompases any type of product - software, hardware, handmade, industrial... keep on with the ID studies, cheers..

What materials did you use for this?? Pens, pencils and markers? As well as brands? Looking to get into design as well!
Actually quite inspiring.

Hey I‘m wondering what pens you use. An overview would be great! Thank you!
So it’s just me who’s here from school work?

I have question.
Where do u get dedication..so much of dedication
Industrial Design is all about making small tweaks to reality that make life better for all. I find that idea very exciting.
Where did you get all those beautiful reference sketches? There's so many of them!
Hi, great video and very inspring! Are there any book or online resources you could recommend to me for improving my design drawing? :)

Funniest thing about this video might actually be that you are apparently listening to the EXACT same music as I do.

What type of markers do you use for the coloring?

Is product design a subcategory of industrial design?
