Paramount most likely wants to view the entire season's ratings before making any plans, but Deadlinereported that Special Ops: Lioness debuted as the streamer's most-watched global premiere. If audiences kept with the show over its eight episodes, we are most likely looking at a Season Two renewal very soon.

It's tough to think Cruz will be back for another mission after this. She's received the full picture of special ops, experiencing the ramifications of a violent war that never ends. Sure, there could be more missions, new recruits, and new morally gray victories where no one wins. From what we know of Sheridan's works so far, just continuing on for continuing's sake issn't exactly his style. This is likely the end of the road for most of these characters.
Here's another thing to consider: it's possible that Special Ops returns as something completely different. As fans may recall, Lioness received the "Special Ops" prefix shortly before its debut. Much like American Crime Story and Netflix's Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the popular drama may only be an eight-episode limited series until it returns in anthology form. We could looking at a Season Two that still bears the Special Ops name, but tells another story entirely. We'll know for sure once Paramount gives Special Ops the green-light. Cruz was completely unprofessional. I think that was the point of the series. That she was a perfect killer but one flaw. Overwhelming need to be loved. Any other profession and she's good. But this one...no way.

I can't help fantasizing about a good and proper closure of some sort for these 2: I think an accidental bumping into each other of some sort in future seasons would be nice. Aaliyah doesn't come off as one doomed to follow her father's footsteps to pursue terrorist ideals. I rather would like to see something like Aaliyah trying but failing to find space in her heart to dislike/hate Cruz as a result of the intense but forbidden love she has for her. And a scene where she spots Cruz on the street from one of her limo rides, abruptly orders the driver to pull over, gets out and stands on the curb facing Cruz, just as Cruz walks towards her direction completely aware cuz of a current mission she is on.
This series should be called "Declining Capability"
I dont think anyone knows untill season 2 starts. So much speculation goes on who knows apart from thosse involved.
