What's everyone's opinion on Final Fantasy 6? Let me know below and if you enjoyed the video that LIKE Button helps way more than you might imagine lol (Also the Audio had a bit too much base in it but hopefully it's not too distracting)
FF VI is THE game that got me into JRPG's. Of course I had it when it was known as FF III on the SNES, and having played the pixel remaster I can say I still love this game!
It’s funny because 6 is the 1st one I noticed and wanted to play but I never got it for Christmas or Bdays and didn’t have much money otherwise so 1st I actually got to play was 7 when I borrowed it from a friend until I got my own copy. Always wish I could have played it when I was younger but is what it is.
I played Final Fantasy VI on it's GBA version (Final Fantasy VI Advance) like, 16 years ago. I loved every single bit of it. Yeah, the game was not perfect by any means, the random encounters were a bit too much for my liking and the navigation was confusing at times, but having never played it before, I enjoyed the story so much, the music, the characters, the beautiful pixel art. After all these years, Final Fantasy VI is still my favorite Final Fantasy game, perhaps for the nostalgia, perhaps for what the game made me feel when I was 15, I don't know, but it's clear, it's one of the best classic Final Fantasy out there, hands down.
I played FF6 for the first time last year. I enjoyed it a lot and I can definitely see why it's so beloved in the FF fanbase. I would say that out of the games I've played from the series, it does have some of the best storytelling and some of the best written characters. I would say I think for me personally, the main cast felt a little TOO large at times, simply because there were some characters I wanted to get to know better and it felt like the sheer size of the group held that back a bit. Also, and this is another preference of mine, I think it would have been cool to see stronger connections building between the main characters. Every person had their own little backstory, which is great, but it felt like very few of them had the chance for rich interactions with each other, and for me --- that made them all feel kind of --- disconnected from each other, I guess? Maybe another limitation of the large cast, I don't know. The love for Kefka is well-deserved, though. He's a great villain. And many of the characters like Terra, Celes, Shadow, Sabin, Cyan, etc, really stood out to me. Beautiful soundtrack and for the most part, really smooth and fun gameplay. I did get kind of tired of it toward the end when I had to spend time grinding to learn spells, but overall I enjoyed it. There were some interesting puzzle solving elements too and lots of cool secrets to find. I think when I finished I had clocked in at about 46 hours, which involved me getting all the characters except Umaro (I was going to but didn't realize I needed Mog to pick him up and didn't feel like backtracking), and visiting most of the secret locations. It's a great experience in 2022, and I can only imagine how amazing it must have been in the 1990s when it first came out.
I don't understand why you were surprised about the things everyone told you were great in this game. It doesn't matter what the graphics look like, Kefka is STILL the greatest villain in FF history.
First played this in 1994, I was 12 years old and it completly blew my mind. It was the first time a video game was telling me a story and boy what a story it is! I was fascinated by all those characters arc, Kefka and of course the sublime soundtrack, I was completely immerse in this world. I still think this is the best video game of all time and i'm really happy that people are still discovering it 28 years later,
FFVl was the first ff game I played when I was younger, and I loved it then and still love it! The story is amazing, I love every playable character. I think I'll play it again after I finish ffX. I honestly compare all ff games to it. It's the standard I use for all of them.
Can’t get over how every time this man mentions that some characters aren’t as good as others he just cuts to Gau lmao. But in all seriousness, I think this is a really good critique of the game. Really highlighted all of the ups and downs of the game, and having played the game and loved it, I can agree with pretty much everything that was said. Except for that Locke isn’t good in a battle. That man just scales insanely good as soon as you get him some better equipment. In late game I found it pretty common that Locke would just waaaaaay out DPS Sabin even if he was spamming Phantom Rush. Also Shadow’s Throw is definitely slept on, because in early game that shit just murders enemies on sight. Too bad he’s not around much.
Yeah those bits were just personal lol About locke tbf maybe I just didn't optimise him fully/properly at the end game since I got carried away with some others, and yeah Shadow's throw was way too OP early game
I've never played any of the older FF titles. I have only played the more recent additions to the series. After hearing a lot of good things about the older titles I decided to go back and play through them. I'm currently playing throught VII and really enjoying it. I also have VIII and IX lined up (really excited about IX). I was iffy about playing this one, but you've convinced me to add it to my line-up!
7 is complete trash because the story, world, and characters are inconsistent and don't make any sense at all. 9 is one of the greats and 6 is worth a shot. Tactics is super super fun for the right mind. I like 10 and 12 as well. 7 is so so so bad and just passes me off. I stay hating the plot at the Golden Saucer. There's just no excuse for the inconsistencies and sloppy writing. Battle system is fun, though.
A note about the game just feeling too old- I got my start with the PlayStation 1 and loved the PS1 FF games, but had heard a lot about how great FF6 was supposed to be so I grabbed the PS1 port of 6, excited for another great FF game. I could never really get into it as a kid though since the game just felt too old to me, coming from the PS1. When I finally tried it again as an adult I ended up really loving it.
I love the effort you out towards this game, I love your criticisms I can feel the passion and pain from how you explain the game the way it needs to be explained you did an amazing job with as little spoilers as possible, Im not usually into old games but this has me intrigued honestly cause I like the constant Rollercoaster of the storyline the combat system looks great, the only thing I think is gonna annoy me is fighting every 10 steps like I gotta keep fighting against zubat in pokemon but I think this would be worth it
Glad it came across the way I intended it to, no it's not perfect and can be hard to get used to for modern gamers but there's a lot of good stuff here
Really glad I subscribed to your personal channel after seeing your reaction channel. 6 is my favorite game in the series, and one of my favorite games of all time. I always love to see content on it and 9.
I love the details of your video! You earn a new sub! FFVI is actually my first Final Fantasy game which makes it really memorable for me. I played it when I was in 2nd Grade of Primary School. I struggled to understand the game since English isn't my primary language but the fact that I had little understanding and as a delved deeper into it, the game truly helped my comprehension in English and really had me hooked on the chaotic drama of the story as well as every character's background! I played tons of Final Fantasy Games but Final Fantasy VI will always have a special place in my heart! 🥰
I paused at 2 seconds to say, Yes. 100% it is, this game has it all. One of the greatest stories told in an RPG, Some of the most iconic music of all time in a video game and super awesome and great mechanics (especially considering the time it was made.)
Your personal favorites tier list video would be cool to watch. You might like playing Star Ocean 2 or the remake version second evolution. Star Ocean 1 or first departure is also nice.
As always, another outstanding video. I love FF VI and this video highlights a lot of the reasons why. This is an amazing game and you have captured the brilliance of it perfectly. I don’t think it’s perfect. There should be a more central character rather than juggling so many. Does anyone really care about Gau? Tera is my favorite and I wish there was more focus on her. Still, it’s fantastic and a blast to play. Thank you for the video. I loved it as I love all your videos. Great job, mate.
I care about almost every character in the game. Now about Gau, if you have the time for him, he can be amazing character. I let him learned all the Magics, learned at least 232 of the Rages, and Yojimbo (Retainer) Rage is one of the best I have seen, followed by Io and Fiend Dragon (DoomDrgn) Would you be surpirsed if I told you that he is in my final battle party? In fact, he is. Gau is epic, if you know what to do. The Kappa that shows you the tutorial about Gau when you first recruited him tells you how you can get Gau to learn his ability "Rage". You have to encounter the enemy and at least defeat them, and then they would appear in the Veldt, and you give some time to encounter those enemy in the Veldt and allow Gau to Leap and then when he reappears (without attacking him), Gau would have learned the Rage for that monster. Gau have an over 250+ Rages to learn from, and some might be more useful and flashier than the others. This is the final battle moments with Gau in the party. I might be the few people who cares about Gau and the other 11 core characters in the game. Your content is so good! I've watched so many of your videos and could honestly binge more. Hope to see this channel blow up in 2023! Also FF6 is lightning in a bottle ⚡
After FF XV and FF VII there is FF VI time. And this would be the last, because I'm not a huge fan of jRPGs or repeating a lot of things (such as summons or chocobos, Cid, Bigs and Wedge etc.) all over again... FF VII supposed to be the last, but after hearing all these enthusiastic opinions about VI I really can't hold myself🤭I need one more... because neither FF XV nor VII didn't give me what I expected in full (good games both, but 8/10 max) and I really count on VI now. I'm after first hour already and it was hard to get used to almost immobile opponents in battles. Also english isn't my first language, so I need to focus a little bit more with dialogues, but for a good story I'm in! It isn't my first NES or SNES game but as of now, I have a REALLY tough time with getting used to the graphics, after half an hour or so it's starting to give me slight eyes pain. But yeah, I do trust it would be worthy now, in 2023. I'm really intrested in music, Kefka, Terra and seeing how the story goes.
I played the game on gba, had some fun with it. I also played ff 1 and 2 on gba getting lost meant back tracking or bruteforcing every place until I got plot progress :3
I played through it for the first time this year (2024). FF1, 2, and 7 all lost my patience after a few hours, but as soon as I began FF6 I never wanted to stop.
I can't believe I didn't watched this sooner. And I used to keep bugging you to play VI during your earlier videos. As much as I love that you did this, I hope you come across all the character side-quests and some hidden scenes across the game, there's even that one scene in the game can be missed if you waited for a certain someone and I recommend just watching that scene on RUclips. My one major gripes with this version (Pixel Remaster) of the game is they made fishing easier. Did you win at the fishing mini-game Prez? Because losing is the better outcome and the canon route. Another is a nitpick of mine, I dislike the English Voice for Celes in the Opera.Other languages sounded a lot better than the English singer. You can change the Celes's Voice by changing the languages options but it will also change the text. Music is also a huge improvement to the original. Some were even extended with the intent to make it longer and more grand than ever before. Some were successful in their intent, some were not so successful. But one song really stands out to me is Searching for Friends. I'm glad you finally played VI.
There is a button that lets you turn random encounters off at whim, deff more enjoyable to play the game with this feature. It doesn’t dilute the experience much as you will still have to make sure you are keeping pace with enemies levels
Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI were my first 2 RPGs - Im that old. So the bar was set really high. And frankly - Ive barely experienced other modern games that match up to these two. I am just about to take on the Final dungeon after starting the pixel remaster on the Switch a week ago. FF VI holds up, its one of the franchises that inspired me to be in the games industry
Wich modern games would you say achieve the same high bar? I can personally only think of Yakuza 7 and Octopath 2. Would love to hear some more recommandations:)
this is a great video, very well made, ive been on the fence for ff6 just due to how old it is, but ill def give it a try, i have no shame in saying i use mod for ff7 in order to enjoy it as im going through it right now, hopefully there are some QOL stuff i can mod in for ff6
If you like the Final Fantasy series, then I would highly recommend the Breath of Fire RPG series as well. It was developed by Capcom, the same company behind Street Fighter, Ghosts and Goblins and Mega Man.
For someone who played many FF games it's weird to skip 6. Anyway better late than never. For me, I played it first time around 2002 but found it boring. Around 10 years later gave it another chance and my opinion about it changed 180 degrees. It's my personal favorite now.
when that came out we'd spend so long trying to find everything. Then it became how long could you play it without destroying the whole world.... it was so pretty before.....
I'm sure most people are fine with going back to play old games they haven't played yet. But man....I wish more people got to play ff6 when it came out. It was mind blowing. It's quaint now, but it was groundbreaking at the time.
I'm debating if I should play FFVI myself. I adore FFVII and Remake/Rebirth. I love FFX. But that's pretty much it. I keep seeing how legendary FFVI is and I wonder if the remaster is worth trying
Having grown up with pixel games, I felt they provided a superior experience because in your mind you are filling in the blanks with your own perfect details. When FF games went HD with 7 and onward I had a harder time enjoying them because the developers were filing in the details and I didn't like their details as much as I liked my own. The same goes for story complexity and dialogue. It's easier to accept clunky dialogue coming from blocky drawings of humans than it is to accept clunky dialogue from photorealistic humans. I wonder if any younger gamers are able to appreciate pixels the same way I did because of when I grew up.
Still remains my favorite of the series for the playable moogle. This version is the best to me because of how much extra was done to it though i will always miss the original SNES script. FFVI Advance was actually the last new GBA game i purchased and other than the sound at times it was still enjoyable. Glad i can still play the original on my SNES classic though i am hoping SE releases the PR on consoles at some point.
As someone who grew up with this game, I can't help but feel like the pixel remaster just ... looks... atrocious. How old are you, out of curiosity? I'm 39.
Final Fantasy VI can be as hard as you want it to be, you claim it is not difficult but you play on baby mode with Edgar in your team, try playing the story wthout him in your team and you will see that the game can be harder than you think. Also you want a quest log? well older games are as good as they are because they dont hold your hand every single second off the game. Tedious dungeons? Have we played the same game? I liked the dungeons much in this game and think they are one of the most varied in the entire series. Sorry dont want to be rude but with some point you talk about in this review, you just dont do this masterpiece enough justice. In my eyes this is a review from a casual mainstream gamers perspective, nothing wrong with that but maybe you have to mention that in the title or subscription of your video so that people know what they are getting into watching this one. Overall I don't think you have it in you to critique a masterpiece like this, Maybe you can better stay at your modern games with modern graphics, I think a game like the Last of us or God of War are a perfect fit for you.
Different opinions on a lot of different areas, and that's okay. You're forgetting the title of this video and the point which is for those who are interested now (that includes many people who are used to quest logs etc.) to showcase if this is something they would be interested in or is it too old or outdated for their liking. You clearly love the game and think it's a 10/10 masterpiece, I simply didn't see it that way but still considered it to be a good game worth playing
Also this reviews is from a fan of the JPRG genre, someone who loves the Final Fantasy franchise and has genuine care for it. And even still it is okay not to be obsessed with this entry
This game hasnt aged well at all for me. Played it again just recently and didnt find it to be very good. I liked ff4 more which i also played recently.
this video is objectively wrong, you CAN play this in 2022 and beyond, no reason to justify or make cases. Instant classic, just stop delaying the inevitable and go play this gem.

It's great. There's parts toward the end that feel like filler but it's the first really epic game in the series IMO
I will just play the romhacks now. Like T-Edition.
FF VI is THE game that got me into JRPG's. Of course I had it when it was known as FF III on the SNES, and having played the pixel remaster I can say I still love this game!

Would love to hear some more recommandations:)
this is a great video, very well made, ive been on the fence for ff6 just due to how old it is, but ill def give it a try, i have no shame in saying i use mod for ff7 in order to enjoy it as im going through it right now, hopefully there are some QOL stuff i can mod in for ff6
im obsessed with your videos
Appreciate that😂
If you like the Final Fantasy series, then I would highly recommend the Breath of Fire RPG series as well. It was developed by Capcom, the same company behind Street Fighter, Ghosts and Goblins and Mega Man.
I agree. Just... don't mind some of the "Engrish" that may pop up, especially in BoF 2
@@Kay_Sea251 Absolutely. Playing BoF 2 with the Fan Translation mod is a much more refined experience.
IV and VI introduced me to the entire genre. Still my top 2 of the franchise.
hey! legit just here to say that i loved the video :D thank you for the work you put in your videos
Appreciate that glad you enjoyed
Great video, dude. Keep it up.
Great video, looking forward for your next one! Have a like and a comment for the algorithm
Appreciate the algorithm support lol
I'm sure most people are fine with going back to play old games they haven't played yet. But man....I wish more people got to play ff6 when it came out. It was mind blowing. It's quaint now, but it was groundbreaking at the time.
I'm debating if I should play FFVI myself. I adore FFVII and Remake/Rebirth. I love FFX. But that's pretty much it. I keep seeing how legendary FFVI is and I wonder if the remaster is worth trying
Theres only one life Mate make your decision
Having grown up with pixel games, I felt they provided a superior experience because in your mind you are filling in the blanks with your own perfect details. When FF games went HD with 7 and onward I had a harder time enjoying them because the developers were filing in the details and I didn't like their details as much as I liked my own. The same goes for story complexity and dialogue. It's easier to accept clunky dialogue coming from blocky drawings of humans than it is to accept clunky dialogue from photorealistic humans.
I wonder if any younger gamers are able to appreciate pixels the same way I did because of when I grew up.
love your videos dude
keep it up!
Appreciate it
Great video. You deserve more views!
Great video thanks for making it
Your FF videos are great but dont forget to breath sometimes ! ;)
Really love your content man :) keep up the great work!!
Appreciate that!
I started playing it yesterday 👍
My top 3 villains in gaming come from Final Fantasy:
1. Emet-Selch
2. Kefka
3. Sephiroth
definitely worth playing. one of the best RPG's of all time. :)
It's 2023, I am 44 years old and play it for the first time now.
I'am halfway through and can only answer this question with a big, fat, loud YES!!!
There are few I would grab in a fire. FF3/6 would be one.
Thank you for the inspiration to make my own videos ❤️ Great content!
Final Fantasy VI no es un juego... ES UNA OBRA DE ARTE
One of the Best RPG story..
It never gets old.
I loved the combat and exploration, i still can't believe this game is from 1994, with Chrono Trigger, like several decades ahead of it's time.
@9:55 Are you trying to suggest that Wind God Gau is not always in your party? Literally the most powerful party member in the game.
2:09 Only the real OGs remember what Edgar really said 😂😂😂
You: 28 years is a long time
Me With 28 years old: :'(
Should've said "for a game" lol
Hahaha saaaaame! I also have not played VI... but you may have convinced me to play.
Short answer: Yes
Long answer: Also Yes
Even better, it’s worth playing in 2024
These graphics are actually better than 7 imo. Haven't seen any cutscenes yet though
Because PS1's early 3D aged like milk. The remake looks fantastic.
@@saricubra2867Too bad the gameplay is steps down
Think I'll start this game today
Hey 358/2 days is the best kh. They need to bring a true remaster not cutscenes.
mutual first kh game i'm amazed
If anyone has issue of encounter rates on ps4 you can limit them so their not an issue not sure which thier to use but yeah.
watching as I'm hours into ffvi in 2024
Well, i played it in 2024 and it was worth it.
I liked the game, but i dont think it meets the hype.
YES!
Its great on the miyoo mini plus
Why didn’t you fix the screen tearing?
he does not know what VSYNC is
Yes
Yes
Next question
answer: yes
long story short : yes
Every single digit FF is worth playing, you really don't need a 20m video to tell you that lol
If I ever get a son, I won’t let him touch any of my game collection without completing all of the final fantasy first starting with 1.
You won't ever have a son.
eewwwww. retro games are better than modern games
Yes.
FF6 is better than FF7. Fight me.
Its close. Very close. I love both dearly. But 6 is the better game.
Final Fantasy 6 will still be worth playing in 3022.
I feel disappointed playing FF6 Pixel Remaster there is no additional espers no 2 extra dungeons,I start playing the GBA Version
Yes.
There. Saved you 25 minutes. Next question.
TL;DR - yes, a million times yes.
As someone who grew up with this game, I can't help but feel like the pixel remaster just ... looks... atrocious. How old are you, out of curiosity? I'm 39.
What a bad title for your video, not olly worthed, Ff6 is the best game of all time in the history of videogames
Indeed it is Mate
Can easily see it just not hitting (some moments could feel draining)
This game was good for its time, but I feel like other ff have done it better since
I just got an ad for pride month, and i thought this gay dude dressed with face paint was kefka lol
I would rather them remake it in 3D, next Gen or cel shaded
I'm game. I fear they'd mess it up but there's always the original. Whatever helps being it to the newer generations is fine with me.
Not this version.
Hugely overrated game. Bad + pathetically easy gameplay and sluggish pacing kill it.
d
The answer is yes. End of video lol
this video is objectively wrong, you CAN play this in 2022 and beyond, no reason to justify or make cases. Instant classic, just stop delaying the inevitable and go play this gem.
I dunno man. Is Casablanca worth watching in 2025?
Yes
