    The radio man at the start of the video was Steve Jones, the lead guitarist for the legendary Sex Pistols. In his later years he hosted a 2 hour radio show called Jonesy's Jukebox on KROQ, a wonderful alternative rock station in Los Angeles. I listened to it every day when I lived out there. 2 hours of great music (some live) and interviews with some major musicians. Love The Arctic Monkeys.

    • @Johnny_Socko
      @Johnny_Socko 8 месяцев назад +2

      Man that was a nice little flashback. I'd never seen this video, and I didn't realize that Jonesy was in it. I remember when Ralph Garman used to do an impression of him on the Kevin & Bean show on KROQ, lol. Jonesy actually thought it was hilarious.

    Arctic Monkeys' singer and songwriter is hugely inspired by Salford beat poet John Cooper-Clarke: listen to him recite just one of his poems and you'll hear the influence clearly. IIRC they've even worked directly with him before now. There's lots of JCC videos on RUclips, but fair warning: this is one time where I WOULD advise one of you to pre-watch the video because some of his poems are VERY Not Safe For Work. Or Home. Or Kids. Or Elderly Aunties. Or Easily Spooked Pets. Come to think of it, you might was to move Particularly Sensitive House Plants out of the room too...😈

      One of the things I have learned in my 30 years is not to completely move in or move out of investments, if you have quality assets. It is better to trim, and then hold some cash for buying opportunities. That way if things drop, you have some funds to buy in. If things go up, you still have a solid chunk invested. I wish I could take back the times I bought or sold everything in a short period of time. All thanks to Tonya

    This and "Do I Wanna Know" were a deliberate tonal shift for the band to break into the US market. They were huge in the UK, but their stuff was harder rock, less sultry, and more about the British youth culture so it didn't translate so well to the US. It's still great stuff and well worth checking out. And, yes, the drumming is phenomenal.

    Debuted on KROQ. The legendary radio station in LA. Sadly not so great now. But so many bands made their debut on KROQ. I’m pleasantly surprised you’ve had them on. Great band. It’s been 12 years since this was released but still fresh.

      Probably made their debut on British radio?

      @@davidhuggan6315 i checked around and it appears Steve Jones formerly of the Sex Pistols introduced the song on KROQ for its debut. I remember arctic monkeys doing a lot of live performances on the radio. Back when we listened to them live versus being streamed.

    Most of the band lived about 10mins away from me when they first formed. Saw them in some of the smaller venues in Sheff before they made it big 🙂

    Artic Monkeys, The Killers, The Stroke, Franz Ferdinand are some of the bands in the early 2000s that brought the 80s sound back

    In an interview, the legendary drummer Dave Grohl said the current drummer he was listening to was this guy. That's a pretty huge compliment if I do say so myself
