Same issue with my brother. Lucky he get released two weeks before christmas! (It's been 6 years) I'm so excited, just gonna give him a big hug and hopefully set him on the right track towards a 'normal' life.
This video definitely challenges the stereotypes of inmates (edit: I am not talking about race. I am talking about the fact that inmates can be kind and loving)
plenty blacks got arrested fro crimes they didn't commit and I thing having weed on you which plenty black people smoke shouldn't put you in prison where plenty are sitting for as well and whites don't make 70% of the population the hispanics are like a big population which is going to dominate over the white population in a few years
^^^ that's because since there IS racism in america, many black people are born into bad situations and have to steal or sell drugs to survive meaning they get sentenced.
AandA, what are you on about? I said "inmates", I was referring to the stereotype that all inmates are cruel and cunning as perceived in media/movies/tv shows. I was just saying that it's refreshing to see the different point of view: These people are normal, loving people, their crime shouldn't define who they are.

alZiiHardstylez these prisoners seem to be in transition. Meaning they have less than 2 years of their sentences left or are up for parole. Step down procedures vary depending on the facility.
It depends on the prison and the prisoner, yes I have had experience with people who have been in prison and one who is in prison right now. Most are pretty chill, mainly because they don't want to get sent to solitary or have an LOP (loss of privilege) put against them. Some prisoners can be like those you see in the movies and T.V. shows, but they have a tendency of always being locked in the hole (solitary) or they get transferred to a different facility because the guards: A. don't want to deal with them anymore. B. they've done something to get a longer sentence. or C. The person overseeing their case, whether that be the judge or their case-worker, has decided a transfer is necessary because the people they are around are not conducive to their rehabilitation.
Huh..never thought prison could look this BRIGHT and FRIENDLY! Changes your perception of things. Makes you think doesn't' it? Rocky's onto something about luck and circumstance and how anybody can easily be incarcerated. I hope for nothing but bright skies and smiling faces in each of these inmates futures!!!
This is hands-down my favorite BuzzFeed video. Probably my favorite video in general, actually. I can't wait for these guys to get out and do all the things they've wanted to do for years.
Sam Thompson The guys in the video (who all committed petty crimes): say they can't wait to start businesses and contribute to society in a positive way after having years and years to think about themselves and the things they did when they were younger (which were due to poor circumstances they were put in by the capitalist society we're in and the school-to-prison pipeline). You: THEY'RE THREATS TO SOCIETY! THEY'LL MURDER OUR CHILDREN AND PILLAGE OUR HOMES!
Nope, I looked it up and there is no The Clink restaurant in the UK owned by Frank. While there are restaurants by the same name none of them are related to Frank's Dream.
prison shouldnt be punishment, it should be more like this, rehab, showing inmates that when they come out they are going to be better than when they came in
The original idea behind the prison system, as explained by rationalists like Jeremy Bentham, was for it to be a rehabilitation center for offenders...offenders get to see what it feels like to have their rights taken away and then they are provided with tools to help them reintegrate into society...so exactly like this.
SlothInSpace what do you mean ? You go to prison for punishment so you’re saying basically killing someone then going in prison they gonna teach you how to be better and not punish you?🔥 they’re gonna combine it
GamingJunk u are only punished if u dont improve ur attitude and aggresion but if ur willing to change and turn ur life around than they allow u to do certain things
Thank you for bringing a little "normal" to their day and treating them as men and not inmates. It meant so much to Ping. He still talks about it. It gave him hope and excitement for his future. You'll never know how much it meant to him. Thank you so much 💖💖💖
Carl is still in prison. He won't leave until October 2018 ( 10 months to go!! ) But for Ping he is out and he is a Program Associate at Defy Ventures / Product Development and Marketing at POSS Fight Wear! that is what I found about him when I googled his name. There wasn't much but I found his LinkedIn account and that's what was written in his description! You can look it up yourself if you aren't sure : " Ping Lieu ".
Actually he already is out! IT was in 2016 i thought he was going to get out in four months too! lol XD So is frank and ping i beleive! I hope they are happy! :D
You have to think about it you're in a cell and everything you do is told to you not a choice. And prisoners have access food sales and name brand like Nike and Jordan for their clothes and shoes
I'm hoping to see ping again. Maybe do a series him leaving and how he does in society , his struggles successes his family if they want to participate. It would be great to see how ex inmates do when they're released.
This is really such a beautiful video. I clicked on it not really knowing what to expect. I really didn't think we'd get to hear from inmates and hear their stories. How they push each other and support each other and I just think that's amazing. It was so real
Fix the system. There's some beautiful people out there. All prisons need positive opportunities such as this one to be able to make a difference in men and women's lives. I am so emotional right now.
Unassigned You are completely correct in that poor behavior should not be rewarded. However, rehabilitation needs more than just negative reinforcement. Especially when many of the people coming out of the system could end up repeating their crimes. There needs to be a balance of correction and redirection.
It is more than negative reinforcement, Betty. They lay out facilities with educational materials, such as, Books for prisoners to use to make a better life for themselves when they are released. You can not get rid of prisons, that would result in anarchy.
Matthew Pettersen I don't want to get rid of prisons AT ALL. They are definitely needed. The literature that you're referring to is in the direction that I'm referring to. What I personally want to see is a blending of correction and education in the system that is often muddled with abuse of power. No system is perfect, and no system will have a 100℅ success rate, however I feel that some prisons implement a much more effective system for redirection than others. I do not believe in rewarding bad behavior. I believe in cause and effect. Yet, I also understand the fickleness of human nature. I'm aware that there will always be inmates unwilling to reform. There is only so much the prison can do. Please don't mistake my cry of fixing the system with removing the system. I simply want to see a more effective system. For example, when a person is sent to a mental facility they are divided into groups based on circumstance and issue. A group in mod A may only have issues with suicidal/homicidal thoughts, mod B may have planned out their actions, mod C has physical ailments that add to their mental state, and mod D is impulsive as well as unstable. The group's treatment plan is tailored generally for the majority of members. They won't have time to get to every individual patient if there is a large number, however, they can better tackle issues and facilitate each mod with the necessities in addition to customized material for rehabilitation. They are all made to realize that they are responsible for their actions and have control over their actions. They are reminded that it is OK to ask for help and are directed to programs that can alleviate some of the issues they may have. There is a quiet room for manic episodes or insubordinate patients. They provide coping skills. However, patients are stripped of any possible weapons, are required to wear a uniform, have schedules and strict visiting hours. The process for discharge is lengthy, but includes medication if needed, books of coping skills and resources to reintegrate into society, hotline numbers etc. They do not want to see their patients again, but sometimes they do have repeats. Some are tougher than others in their approach to clients, but none of them baby any of them. That's clearly an isolated and accelerated case, yet I feel as though a similar program with certain standards and expectations can be achieved in our prisons. I just want to see a more effective corrective system across the board. They're vital for our communities, and though we can't save everyone, having the compassion to try and continue to strive will be seen. Just as apathy will be seen.
honeytea But they’re the ones that commit the horrendous crimes... they wouldn’t be in there if the didn’t do something illegal. We, law abiding citizens, do not take things like our freedom for granted because we don’t break any laws and go to jail.
All these people that are in that jail are genuinely good people and I respect that how much effort they put into being a better them....or person for themselves 😔✊🤚

Incredible. So capturing, way deeper than I expected it to be. Honestly, it didn't feel like a 20-minute video. I applaud you Buzzfeed for this video. Very sad to watch but it gives you hope. You find yourself rooting for their dreams and changing the way you look at people that have been arrested or convicted of crimes.
These guys really make you think about your life. I am proud of them and I've never met them. I hope they're businesses succeed. Ping, Carl and Frank you guys rock and so do the others who have made the right decisions and are on the road to a better life. Keep strong you guys. Never give up.
I dunno if anyone from buzzfeed reads these comments but I just wanna say that this is by far my favorite video ever. I love all the buzz feed videos I've seen. But this one is special. I would love a follow up video!

@@victormartinez9312 He in jubilee
@@deebreezy246 exactly what I said
This was such a good idea for a video! And I know it's inappropriate to say so but some of those prisoners are fiiiiine 🔥
Well 😕 welcome to the internet 😐 where nothing is inappropriate 😛
Ali Diaz you're fine, wtf
truuuu
They deserve compliments and people to be attached to them. In fact, that is exactly what is needed to make them feel human again.
Ali Diaz hahah so true
these prisoners are more open minded and inspiring then most people walking free...
Yeah, and all it took was them getting locked up for a quarter of their lives. Maybe we should lock up everyone.
and clinton , and trump
Including you
it's all about experience
The clink is a prison restaurant in the UK. His business plan actually happened 😊
Nope, I looked it up and there is no The Clink restaurant in the UK owned by Frank. While there are restaurants by the same name none of them are related to Frank's Dream.
prison shouldnt be punishment, it should be more like this, rehab, showing inmates that when they come out they are going to be better than when they came in
do the crime do the time. nobody goes to prison for rehab its a punishment.
You go to prison for punishment so you’re saying basically killing someone then going in prison they gonna teach you how to be better and not punish you?🔥 they’re gonna combine it
yeah if you kill someone you shouldn't be punished for it
GamingJunk u are only punished if u dont improve ur attitude and aggresion but if ur willing to change and turn ur life around than they allow u to do certain things
Thank you for bringing a little "normal" to their day and treating them as men and not inmates. It meant so much to Ping. He still talks about it. It gave him hope and excitement for his future. You'll never know how much it meant to him. Thank you so much 💖💖💖
tlieu7 I've seen you comment a lot on this video. Do you work at the prison or something?
No. I'm Ping's girlfriend.
Serious? Aw, he's a lucky guy! You're beautiful! Bet you can't wait to have him home.
Aww thank you 💖💖 I'm the lucky one. He's an amazing man. And yes we are so excited for these next few months to fly by. It's a little surreal. 😊
+tlieu7 You dirty liar you're not his gf..
Video Idea: Ping and Carl - Where Are They Now?
Catherine Mateariki yes
What about the bald dude who said he had 4 months left
Harja that’s carl
Carl is still in prison. He won't leave until October 2018 ( 10 months to go!! )
But for Ping he is out and he is a Program Associate at Defy Ventures / Product Development and Marketing at POSS Fight Wear! that is what I found about him when I googled his name. There wasn't much but I found his LinkedIn account and that's what was written in his description! You can look it up yourself if you aren't sure : " Ping Lieu ".
Oh Ping is out of jail i saw him recently in a video called felons and police middle ground or something by the youtube channel jubilee
Omg the guy from 2:21 was featured in Jubilee’s middle ground!! Cool glad he’s out and well 😄
Unbelievable video. So powerful and inspiring. The world would be a different place if we all had the inmates mindset
follow us on instagram @conbody
he is talking about they way they realized about they mistakes and decide that they want better things
I think he means accepting your circumstances and using it for good.
Yes, I meant that they are accepting their mistakes, and instead of letting a mistake hamper the rest of their lives, they're making the best of it
I'm pretty sure the ones in the video are a select few
that trainers eyebrows are nice af

A little too nice....

You sure Ping was a prisoner? Ping look more like a fitness coach 😂
You have to think about it you're in a cell and everything you do is told to you not a choice. And prisoners have access food sales and name brand like Nike and Jordan for their clothes and shoes
@Joju yes he is lol
That Prison seems pretty chill tbh
Nvm
it's a low-medium security facility, otherwise Buzzfeed wouldn't have been able to come in like that
LMFAO you saw the part about Frank huh
mini dwarfdude Yeah prison really isn't "Chill"

I'm hoping to see ping again. Maybe do a series him leaving and how he does in society , his struggles successes his family if they want to participate. It would be great to see how ex inmates do when they're released.
Cyrillia Louis A series on RUclips named “Middle ground” named “Ex felons and Cops”, has Ping in it. ruclips.net/video/kbdJqkKQCzc/видео.html
he doesn’t need his life to be continuously watched over. he’s already under heavy surveillance being an inmate
(well not anymore)
@@kaledoublescope he’s good
Notice how most of these guys were put in jail for drugs, While real criminals are on the streets.
or in the government;-)

This video was so emotional and at the same time it makes you realize that you have to appreciate your life
What the heck they have better lunches than my school does😂
Hannah Allen haha true
Hannah Allen In the US more money goes to the prison system than the educational system-so that's how.
same
Hannah Allen I can relate 😂😂
Hannah Allen omfg ikr I feel you
Update us on Ping!!! Give him a job Buzzfeed!!!

ruclips.net/video/kbdJqkKQCzc/видео.html ping is in this video
Ping is a free man now
Ping is out now and did a video with another channel!!
Which Channel?
MarianaGacha San Jubilee, one of there common ground videos, it with cops and ex-felons
Betty-Alexandria Pride Good behaviour should be rewarded, poor punished. This applies to prison too
prison is a CORRECTIONAL FACILITY not a cell for you to rot in #FixTheSystem
Just as apathy will be seen.
ping is out by now, you must make follow up video
You can find him on LinkedIn apparently.

GM yes I hop so too
GM go watch a video on Jubilee I think he's in one of them
I think I have watched this 20 times. It’s one of my favorite buzzfeed projects. I even signed up for the con body online workouts.
Makes me realize how much we take for granted.
LavenderOwls yup
I agree I would never think that I would ever miss putting on my own clothes.
"Appreciate what you have until life has taught you what you've lost"
honeytea i mean these guys commited crimes
honeytea But they’re the ones that commit the horrendous crimes... they wouldn’t be in there if the didn’t do something illegal. We, law abiding citizens, do not take things like our freedom for granted because we don’t break any laws and go to jail.
Buzzfeed you should go back to the system on ping's release date
PING HAS 2 WEEKS LEFT
hes free ayy
Sophie Dukes yay he's out 😻😹👻😜
Sophie Dukes who's ping

3 dislikers
I disliked because its too long
Jk jk
why wouldn't they. Its buzzfeed :\
with that logic, there shouldn't be any likes either.
dtacoms well I like my favorite youtubers videos before I even watch them any buzzfeed channel is not my favorite but with abortive youtubers that makes sense but the same goes for people who hate S youtuber they dislike before they watch the video I do that with keemstar
Frank, Ping, and Carl need to be working for Buzzfeed. They are going to do great things in this world.
Yay. October of 2018 just ended.. Im sooo happy for "dixon dwayne" or carl robinson hope hes livin his best life👍👍👍
These guys really make you think about your life. I am proud of them and I've never met them. I hope they're businesses succeed. Ping, Carl and Frank you guys rock and so do the others who have made the right decisions and are on the road to a better life. Keep strong you guys. Never give up.
