The gold face paint is giving off serious Florida man vibes... As for the Strike Freedom, I was indifferent when it was first announced, but the more I see the more I like it. I may end up getting this kit.
Just FYI, if you scroll down the MGEX SF pages, there's an image showing that this kit comes with an action base, and interestingly enough two shield effect parts. I do kind of disappointed with no mention of dragoon/wing of lights parts considering the price tag. Tbh I'm a bit on the fence about this kit on first impression. But seeing the (CGI) build of this kit, I want it. This is probably the best non UC MG frame design I've ever seen. It really captures SEED design with the sleek and aggressive sharp edges all over the place, without making it overly bulky. Assuming every advertised gimmick work as intended, refusing this kit would be a hard choice, MGEX or not. As for MGEX, I was under the impression that they'll probably go with UC MS first, so my first guess after Unicorn is basically Zeta. But I guess Bandai just want to thrown everyone in the dark with which MS going into MGEX line.
I would pay 4k yen more just to get WoL or dragoon effect parts tbh. This thing already cost like 2 MG virtue already. at least we don't pay the price of 3 virtue...
I thought MGEX would go Zeta for transform gimmick as well, but that's under the assumption Bandai actually tries to make innovative kits, which isnt the case. Next Mgex is probably Exia since its needs a 2.0 or ver ka but bandai wont sell it for a lower price than the virtue. Its gonna have some dumb gimmick like the SF here, maybe like "most articulate MG yet" which is still better than "slightly less shit gold paint plastic". I like the SF frame design as an MG, but as an MGEX it's a but of a joke to me. I'm just gonna have to strip the frame and paint over the subpar gold plastic.

Without an established pattern it’s hard to guess what the next kit could have been but being as this year is the 20th anniversary for Gundam Seed and they seem to be pushing that right now it makes sense that the second kit would be the Strike Freedom.

K so I'm currently building the daban metal build strike freedom and that kits has a ridiculous amount of gold plated parts. If this new strike freedom is anywhere like that I can see a very big issue with nub marks. I have been dealing with that exact issue on the metal build. I have tried to fix them with several way of painting and it hasn't come out right in any of them. The only way to fix the nub mark issue is to strip the parts and completely repaint them. Hopefully Bandai finds a way to make sure all the nubs are hidden or else it will look horrendous.
I was joking about a mgex strike freedom with a friend just after the mgex unicorn came out, i wasn’t expecting it but it certainly blew my mind because the mg strike freedom was my first ever big kit moving on from sd,hg and full mechanics. Its kinda awesome its coming out in November just after my birthday so i know what i will pre order :D
I think pricing stuff up by a percentage makes sense for cheaper kits, but charging nearly 190 dollars is a (going by current exchange rates of 1 USD to 127 roughly yen) 80 dollar premium. Yes, I understand you have to import the kit (which you get a discount for because you guys get stuff in bulk) and you need to make a profit, but that seems a bit gouge-tastic, imo. The shipping rates to us don't matter because you charge us for the shipping anyway.
Yeah, based on the current exchange I'm seeing 14.000 yen is about $110 (2000 EDT 05/21/22) multiplying by 1.2 gives you $132 so even with that in mind $150 feels like where it should be, but who knows what Bandai are actually wholesaling it for in the US and what the MSRP is, when I saw the Japanese pricing I was fully expecting this to be "affordable". I don't see any other US retailers with info up yet so I guess its a wait and see, which is a shame because I probably would have preordered.

The initial "spring release" was a mistranslation. The original Japanese reads that the full info will be available during spring, which is this full reveal that we're looking at. But yea, looking forward to the final release. I'm just glad it's still within this year and hopefully it doesn't get pushed back.
i was totally expecting a Strike Freedom, but not so much as an EX kit. it's been a while since the Freedom 2.0 and we have got 3 MGs based off that frame. So, yeah I was hoping for a first no UC VerKa kit, but this will do nicely.
when I saw the announcement for the MGEX SF from before, I immediately thought of what they'd do about the other mobile suits for the MGEX line, cuz if the Unicorn's thing is the LEDs, and the SF's are the metallic coatings, what would the 00 gundams would get? could still be LEDs but I would still be expecting something different, but even I can't think of anything that would work, and I don't think hatches that can open would be enough
Depends if the gimmick is cool or cheap. 00 will be Exia (only) most likely. They have a couple of options. 1. Articulation. Super articulate MG, (which is a dumb gimmick imo but we have gold plastic as a gimmick for sf) 2. Special plastic that can transition into a pink red hue to emulate trans am. Highly doubtful because it involved bandai using experimental plastics. 3. LEDs and high res decals or printed parts to show off the text displays on the exias green panels. Least likely imo.
I think the second one you mentioned is probable but in the far future, although you'd be working hard to get all the parts that changes color to actually change color AND keep it that way long enough to take a single pictureXD

It’s a rough conversion, saying that taking an exact 100¥=$1, so $144x1.2=$172.80 Again, roughly. I tested this on a number of kits we sell at USAGS, yen times 1.2 and it’s usually about right, give or take

Nice coverage, Goldust! I'm more into mono-eyes and grunt suits, so this kit is kinda meh. And gold has always seemed tacky to me so it's a double strike. However if they release a cheaper version without the gold I would consider it.
I wasn't surprised that this became a MGEX. I assume that all PGs are consideration for the MGEX line. I am hoping for an MGEXia next but would like to see a MGEX Strike Gundam with an extreme point of a Skygrasper.
Haven't owned any actual "good" strike freedom kit, so this is the one I gonna get, but I do hope they release an expansion pack or sth for the wing of light at least.
