Something my highschool coach would always say is its just another strike. Don't think about it just go up take a deep breath and throw the ball. It got my friend to throw his first 300 and right after that I bowled my highest game ever a 278. 9 strikes in a row. I felt the same on the 9th strike as I did the first one, it was a lot of pressure the most I ever felt but somehow I kept my cool. I remember everyone acting like nothing is happening when my friend was on a roll and after that last ball hit and all the pins fell we just all started cheering and jumping. Still my best bowling memory. I remember the next day at school they always have the dude in charge of the sports on the morning announcements and as soon as I heard him say we had a great day in bowling yesterday I was like Oh no. He then said "Austin Travis got a 300 and Austin West got a 278 beating (Insert school here) by x number of score. Big round of applause for them" Everyone in my home room just looked at me and started cheering. That whole day all people were talking about was us and bowling. The next game we had a lot of students showed up for support but after that game no one showed up again. XD.
A few days ago I bowled 279 during practice. A few days later in league, I had trouble reaching 150. When playing for fun, I'm relaxed and generally play well. Game time (and I'm the anchor) I feel pressure and don't play well. I know it is "in my head." It has been a long-term problem. I tell myself it is easy to fix... to think positively and be confident and throw with conviction. But then game time comes around and it is a hard habit to break. Tonight is league. Think positively! Be in the moment! Don't overthink the shot!
I am the same way you are not alone great practice bowler, league night average 175 I can bowl better than that I do it when I practice. keep your head up. Keep working! we got this.
This I believe has changed my game the most, I do a routine every time now and it settles me down and puts me in the now and lets me get all the noise out of my head.
Many times what happens on the lanes starts above the shoulders. Having a strong mental game and an effective process will always benefit you on the lanes so keep up the good work! Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching our videos!!
Thanks a lot when I get in uncharted waters big string I get high anxiety the deep breath and exhale really helps. Bowled some of my highest games this year still striving for 300. I will be ready when time comes to just make shots thanks again luv your tips keep ‘em coming. Still luv this game at 67. Better now than ever.
i have seen all coach mike shady videos on your channel several times and i follow and always looking for new one. my scores are became more after watching these videos. i learnt a lot from these videos and i hope i learn more and more. thank u for ur channel and thank you to coach shady. from Iran
Excellent video. If there is a distraction or pinsetter malfunction after I have picked up my ball, I put the ball back down and walk back to my seat or talk with my teammates until the situation is fixed. Then I start over with my pre-shot routine. If I have thrown two strikes in the tenth frame and feel my heart rate is increased, I take a few seconds to adjust my shoelaces to give myself the time to regain my composure. Then I start over again with my pre-shot routine.
Coach Shady and Mike... talk about time on this subject as we get ready to hit the lanes next for our summer league. Good Stuff here, Great content. Thanks Mike #insidebowling
Thanks for watching Kenny. Yes, the numbers are in seconds. When you complete the 6 second exhale, you would then begin your movement toward the foul line. Keep growing Kenny! Coach Shady

I am so ready and getting nervous and stressed out about I have my bowling game with my best buddies at bowling alley on August 27,2021.

Great tips! Questions how do I develop my own routine on the lane and how do I stay focused and keep out distractions
Me too because I have been messed up on my bowling previous games at bowling alley.
Hi Mike, love your videos. Quick question, the 4,2,6 stands for how many seconds? So exhale for 6 secs then go?
Thanks for watching Kenny. Yes, the numbers are in seconds. When you complete the 6 second exhale, you would then begin your movement toward the foul line. Keep growing Kenny! Coach Shady
@@insidebowling Thanks a lot! Great coaching!
A consistent delivery starts with a consistent pre-shot routine !!
