    You make getting better at golf seem realistic. I have been playing for five months and am flirting with breaking 100. Haven’t done it yet but watching the way you play definitely makes it seem like a realistic goal I am not far from. Thanks for the inspiration!

      Chad you can do it! His mindset really helped me. I was In Your shoes about a year ago. Now I’m constantly low 90’s. I took his mindset and really worked on hitting the safer shot. Since then I’ve shot a 89 and a 87.

      You become better when you realize that hitting straight shots impossible everybody always says they used to peel slice the ball
      Even the best say there shots is draw to straight to fade to straight
      Now take this confidence realizing that you’re not perfect shots are not too bad chips and pitches

    "This is my sixth round with my new clubs and I think I'm ready to declare that their performance is identical to my old clubs" had me absolutely rolling.
    This is my home course! So good to see you play it, and pretty damn well!

    • @BloodyYTNamingNonsense
      @BloodyYTNamingNonsense Год назад

      I cannot stress enough how valuable this video is to my game. Watching you play, your swing isn't particularly pretty and you don't hit the ball particularly far, about the same as I do with the long clubs and a bit shorter with some of the shorter clubs. Which is to say that your 'weapons' aren't really any more potent than my ones are. Where you save strokes on me (15 hcp) around here is
      1) short chips and long putts - these generally go pretty close or very close with the putts, letting you have a really good chance with your next shot
      2) better misses - your misses are almost always playable, suggests you aren't overswinging, overplaying your abilities like I am sometimes
      3) fewer blow-up holes, and damage limitation when it happens
      The lesson for me here is if I want to improve my handicap by 10, I don't really need to do anything to my woods/hybrids, I do need to work on narrowing the left/right dispersion of my irons, and definitely need to work primarily on the finesse part of my game - short putts, long putts, short chips, long chips. Thanks for the vid!

    Great stuff Adam, people need to realize you don't need to have everything perfect or be physically gifted to do what you do. I play with lots of single digits that only hit it 220-230. Have a decent short game and keep it in play and boom single digits. I'm dedicating this year to tightening up my short game and figure I can go from a 3 to a 0. Keep on keeping on!

    I went dawn chasing this morning and shot 79. First time in the 70s in about a year. 10 years ago my index was in the low 4s. I’ve just started tracking again and I’m sitting at a 9.2 (only 4 rounds in there right now). I have stopped trying to hit draws and fades like I used to, and have just started hitting it straight. Went from frustrating rounds in the low 90s with the occasional miracle shot, to fun rounds in the low 80s. My advice: if you were pretty good and now you suck, start playing like you suck, and pretty soon you’ll be good again.
    Just recently found your channel. Really enjoying your videos. Thanks for the great content.

      Thanks, Danny, and congrats on getting your channel going! I'll check it out.
      I typically approach the starter before the round to let them know that I'll be shooting video and will *not* slow the course down. Every so often I get a grumpy starter or marshal who doesn't like it. Every so often there's also a group on the course that insists that I'm the reason the course is running a five hour pace, only for the marshal to meet our group and observe for themselves that we're waiting on every shot. Like I say, this isn't the case all that often, but I find that when this happens, it really interferes with my ability to enjoy a round. There's not much worse than being the object of anybody's ire when you're trying to enjoy a round of golf.

    Still think you will get to scratch Adam. Your short game is there. Your long game is very close. It’s there when you swing through impact more than hit at the ball.

      Thanks, Steve. I wish I had this confidence in my game haha. I just don't think I'm committed enough to getting there to do it. I may go low every now and then, but to maintain that level consistently might require a level of dedication that I don't think I have.

    As I was watching I started thinking, "I wonder if Adam has any thoughts about how his fitted clubs are working versus his old set", only to hear you confirm it's more the Indian than the arrow 5 seconds later. Also nice to see Peacock Gap make an appearance. I played it once while in school, along with several of the other Bay Area courses you've highlighted. Happy memories (the school part, not so much the golf at that time!)

      Thanks, Mike! Yeah, that's definitely my conclusion re: clubs. Forgive me if I've already asked you, but what are your other favorite tracks in the Bay?

      @@NotAScratchGolfer We were on student budgets, so nothing but the tippy tippy top of Bay Area golf; Sharp Park, Tilden Park (okay, the first two are fun), Corica (all pre-renovations), and Monarch Bay. We managed to get around to others occasionally, but nothing really special. Fond memories of really bad golf, except for one of our group who was exceptional. Poor guy.

    whats the difference between an index and a handicap. all my google searches make it complicated, can someone explain it like i'm 5 years old xD?

    • @tk-unc
      @tk-unc 2 года назад

      Index is more official,technical, and accurate scoring from a website. Handicap is what you shoot on an average. They’re basically the same thing.

    • @bolecrink
      @bolecrink 2 года назад +1

      your index is your average score over par (if you shoot 8 over on average your index is 8) but your handicap is around your top 30% of scores (so if you shoot 8 over on average you are probably a 3-4 handicap)

    I love how you comment missing with the putter on pulls a few times. PGA average is 28.9 putts/round, even with the triple you're still only at 30. That's PGA level stuff!

      They're hitting more greens than I am, though, so my "good" putting stats should be taken with a grain of salt: the more greens you hit, the more putts you are likely to take. Nonetheless, appreciate the kind words :)
