I put my tiddies to the target and signed up for a tweak this morning, got a response in under 2 hours! And it was incredible. Braden literally fixed my club face issue immediately. 12$ for a $100 lesson value and I gained 12yds on my 7i in 10 minutes.
One thing I’ve always lived about your videos is the soundtrack. Your selections are really chill and have a good vibe to them - but more importantly, you know what’s coming when you hear a particular track and it makes more enjoyable to watch. This video you mixed in some new ones with the oldies - keep them. They work great!
I've began hitting the like button as soon as i get an alert of you posting something new, Capitan WaddaPlaya! I'm learning allot watching you work your way around each course, Sifu! Do yo Thang Playa
I’m routing for you to get scratch before you leave. I just broke 80 for the first time yesterday and I got a triple bogie on the 18th lol. Definately what has made my game better is watching your mindset in these videos, help navigating the course and consistently driving nearly 250m according to arccos and keeping the ball in play.
My Dad played at Monifieth in his youth and always told me how beautiful it was. I was born in Broughty Ferry, just down the road, but I’ve never played the course. Will have to do so one day in memory of him and our happy days playing golf together.
Matt, your videos are enlightening. I just picked up the beautiful game of golf 4 months ago and have been watching your videos ever since. Following some of your advice, after a month of lessons and range practice, i have shot an avg of 104 over my first 5 rounds. My driver is poor but the way of the playa gives me confidence to hit my irons off the tee and live with the lesser results if it means keeping the ball in play. Til next round to break 100! Thanks chief
Years ago I said keep your butt on the wall :) you said not a bad thought but not the point of the channel and you were right. In the wind in the cold in Scotland really really try to keep it back - you’ll be amazed :)))
Im guessing 5.4 after the trip. Good luck. Played Braid Hills in Edinburgh this summer, had a great time. Not really long, but some serious card wreckers.
Great video. You are putting much better than you were when you 1st got there. The early part of the back was off, reminded me of your early video’s. You’d be going strong and then get to the 12th hole. I’m confident you’ll get to better and you are on a good trajectory to get to scratch. I’m going to guess 2.2 at this point. I was higher on the 1st video. Also love how you show your handicap calculation.
Nice job Matty. I know you're tired but we appreciate the content this trip is providing! Thinking you're definitely getting down to around say a 2.7 cap. Keep grinding!
Loving your links golf series Matt. Totally different game. I live in Thailand and am a member at North Berwick so completely know where you’re coming from. Stay patient- you have the correct strategy. Short game is where it’s at and putt as much as possible. Btw- Play the West Links North Berwick…it’s a classic!
Yeps, this is awesome and I think I mentioned 3.9 hcp earlier and think to stick with that for the moment. Of course I hope you will obliterate it with scratch. Keep on trucking and grinding. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
This was the most solid round you've played, yet. I don't think you're going to manage to get any better than a 4.0, aka straight A student, if you keep walking 2 rounds a day. I'm guessing your mental and physical conditioning won't be good enough to play well twice in a day until the 7th or 8th day, especially if you're not sleeping too. It makes for good entertainment, though. Keep em coming Matty Boom Boom
Matt, Im with you. I fluctuate around 4 HCP. Sometimes a bit better sometimes a bit worse. Still a work in progress but been a year in the making. Matt I have no idea why you would hit 4 iron 220 yards and vary right and left vs a driver where you could hit 270+ yard and still maybe right and left but 50+ yards further.
Tough to get to scratch on links golf especially when you're not using your driver, i used to envy your driving as you hit it very solid and far, its a mindset 👍 I'm 2.7 and my goal at the start of the season was scratch and shoot 65 best has been 69 play links golf all year round.
I started for real with golf only this year and its so easy to get addicted to it and make it become much more stressful than it is. Due to fact its such a difficult skill and that it boosts your ego massively randomly when you hit a great shot it makes it so addictive. But I stopped going on that trajectory, no pun intended. I will build my game slowly and first and foremost enjoy it. Of course I will do my best and keep score but its not worst obsessing over it for something that is so relaxing and enjoyable when you remove that "I must score this much" from it.
Matty knowing your sense of humour you did this on purpose but just in case the map at the start is of Ireland 😂 Big fan and thanks for your outstanding content playa.
Matty - I have seen almost every one of your videos dating back to the below-10K subs days. I love your content and think the way-of-the-playa is the truth. That said, I'm curious about your strategy to get to scratch with little to no Driver and scrambling your way to scoring. You have a great short game, of course, but I wonder if that's realistic without being a truly elite iron player. I've had this internal struggle with myself for years and have noticed that, as my handicap has dropped (I play off 3.4 right now), the gains are significantly harder to find through the short game alone. I score my best when I hit my Driver the best and make some putts. You?
Finally broke into + handicap this week after being stuck around 3 for most of last year. Outside of my putting getting better, my biggest change was a neutral setup. Classic leadbetter principals which changed my game. Even though the camera angle is off, your first shot of the video had your feet completely shut and you had to slam the face shut to hit a pull draw. Not saying it will for sure help, but setting up neutral takes out alot of unnecessary and difficult to repeat movements. Those are my thoughts.
I play on links style Pete Dye greens. Played the same course probably 2000 times. I have poor depth perception and I can’t read the subtle breaks. I usually guess the direction of the break wrong. I get on greens with better slopes and I’m a little better at green reading. I decided to get great at speed control two years ago and have eliminated most 3 putts due to picking wrong break.
Matty, I truly want you to be the best playa you can. Especially in golf’s motherland, but I need my buttload of Waddaplaya gear. I’m sticking with my original guess of 4.7. Cheers
I think 3.4 handicap. I know you were worried about the wind but I think the new driver and 1 iron have been holding you back on this trip. I would have predicted scratch with the Ping G400 driver and the Srixon(?) 2 iron that you used in the past in the bag.
I think since the weather is only getting colder. I reckon the playa n chief will finish at a 4.2 (yes I changed it because I forgot with how we’re doing hdc it’s impossible for it go back up I think idk)
Matt, congratulations!!! Look at your putts!! You are definitely a scratch player! Could you birdie 2-3 holes? And the shots are much straighter… that 1st shot of the 9th hole was either a push or a misalignment… what do you think about it? That experiment on the par 3 aligning left was wise and might be a remedy… Too much trumpet after that… Ho can you recover mentally? That push fade repeated later in the 14th and 15th… I am sure it was alignment… long hybrid better than 3i? Enthusiastic to see more! Scratch playaaaaa!!!! 👏
Hey Matty. Don't want to be mean, but i think a 2.7 index is amazing for Scotland. Best of luck for the rest of the rounds and fingers crossed you get Old course!
a question- are you used to playing in metres or yards back in Thailand? I´ve honestly forgotten. I know that threw me at first, playing in metres instead of yards, coming from the UK to Norway, and coming up 1 club short. weather and conditions may also have been a factor. My guesstimate for hcp? 3.2
Watching you play is entertaining, educational, and always insightful. Your swing is gentle and smooth and THAT is what I've been trying to emulate. You are an excellent ball striker. I've watched most of your gameplay videos and my observation is that you seem to hit too many second shots from the rough. More than necessary with your skill level. I watch you set up your shot and I can always tell by your stance and swing motion which direction you intend to move the ball; and you do. You're very good at it. However, you typically fail to realize the breadth of the arc in those shots and end up too far right or too far left. You can scramble that's for sure. You chip and putt like an ace. As strong as your iron game is, you shouldn't have to scramble so often. Personally, the only time I want to move the ball left or right is when I'm trying to steer around trouble or hit the green on the upside of a severe break. My guys call me "Lines" because I typically shoot arrows. If only I could chip and putt.
Matt, Those are pictures of Tom Kite, not Tom Watson. Sorry to have to point that out. Edit: I see now that others mentioned that also, didn't see those comments before. Apologies.

Im a simple man. I see a golf sidekick video, i watch a golf sidekick video
I too am a simple man.

Used your Swingtweaks code and my driver is a lot less slicey. Waddaboss!! Love your vids Matty.

I love the way you are adapting to different clubs and shots with the wind. Improving every round Playa.
Really enjoying your journey, enlightening for us to see how these courses play with weather, time of day, etc.... Handicap 4.9. Cheers!
That up and down on 13...sick. I love those, cause it gets you back in a round if you've been in a fog (copy/paste golfing).
Keep the videos coming. Looks like a great trip. 3.7 handicap!
Happy to report I shot my first Hiole In One last Saturday, 140 yards Par 3. Waddalife!
Matty, enjoying your rounds. Good luck with the quest.
One of your best series, keep up the good work

The real mr. Short game.. ouch. You had me laughing when you were frustrated talking to yourself. Thanks for the video.
switched to Takomo wedges and 201 irons and just shot under 80 for the first time. Thanks for the tips playa

Enjoyed another of your videos, I like your honesty and what you're thinking. A couple of good rounds and you should get to 1.6
Lovin the way of the playa links edition. Stunning courses!
What a great day! Welcome back at Monifieth anytime brother 🤝🏼
Go low playa hit 2.4 be good have goals. Always enjoy your comentary
Weather is warm for this time of year, lovely day.
My original prediction on your first Scotland video three weeks ago was 4.3 -- what a fool I was! You got this playa!
Matty knowing your sense of humour you did this on purpose but just in case the map at the start is of Ireland 😂 Big fan and thanks for your outstanding content playa.

I am enjoying this series Matt!! I think you will definitely get to scratch!!
Why the map of ireland at the start?
Yes playa!! Waited for this!!
I think since the weather is only getting colder. I reckon the playa n chief will finish at a 4.2 (yes I changed it because I forgot with how we’re doing hdc it’s impossible for it go back up I think idk)
Tom WatsKite was a great links player
Great video as always.
Great vidoe! 3.2!
Glad you enjoyed it playa

Hes got fine hand/eye coordination..
Hey Matty. Don't want to be mean, but i think a 2.7 index is amazing for Scotland. Best of luck for the rest of the rounds and fingers crossed you get Old course!
Love the videos Matt! I think your handicap will be a 4,7.

Smart. Lowering my projection. 2.6
Enjoying the links series. 3.8 thinking you’ll finish at
love how u view a course
4.3- waddayear! Scotland!!!!
Great videos thinking you will get to handicap 2.9
Loving the content, keep up the great work, handicap 2.8
3.6 Matty - fingers crossed for the Old Course round. Waddaputter.
Great videos has done so much for my game. I am seeing 2.3 handicap
Hope you’re enjoying Ireland mate
Reckon you'll get to 3.2 by the end. Cold weather UK golf ain't no joke!
“The real Mr. Shortgame” hahaha 😂
Keep working hard Matty boom boom💥 , 2.7hcp
Playa, just got your shorts and love them. I am confused though, why is there snap, zipper AND string? I don’t mind just curious
Flexi waistband in case you want to tie it up if it's loose. Can just pull the string out playa
6.4 - no driver I
Makes some of those links courses much longer, especially when it's cold out.
Don’t let the birdie feather run away from you! 4.2
Tried to play your way today but messed up 3 of last 4 holes and went hero but will try next game again
I'm here for the Tom Weiskopf bait.😂
9,10, and 11. Nice run!
Referencing time 0:21 - That's not Tom Watson! That's Tom Kite! Silly Boy! (but Love the rest of the channel!)
Matt,
Those are pictures of Tom Kite, not Tom Watson.
Sorry to have to point that out.
Edit: I see now that others mentioned that also, didn't see those comments before. Apologies.
when you hear that guitar riff, you know Matty boom boom is doing alright.
⛳️⛳️⛳️
You should come and play in Canada next year
im guessing 3.3. I wish it was still golfing weather here in Finland. Cheers
I think you'll be down to a 2.6! Love the vids
Playa - just rock up and tell them you are the Baus know as Golf Sidekick. Guaranteed tee available for you. 👍🏼
How does British links compare to an American links, pebble beach etc.
And secondly is links golf your favourite type of golf now?
Depends on the piece of land. Mostly turn berry was like pebble but the rest are more bumpy and less ‘in front of you’ like pebble is.
when is that birddog mallet gonna be available for purchase? I saw "not a scratch golfer" is using a prototype.
After Adam refines it for me playa
When you said you hit a skanky 5 iron 🤣🤣🤣🤣Saffas are truly unmatched
0:59 5.1 I would say ❤ your videos
You're at what I predicted a few weeks ago. Ultimately, I'll be wrong. You'll go lower Matty Boom Boom, because you're figuring it out!
Loving this series! 3.6 is my guess while watching this video.
I think you’ll average out at around 2.6 handicap.
Love the videos keep em coming Playa 😎
4.4 was my pick if I remember correctly, the conditions...the conditions. They are also really some tough courses your playing.
The Real Mr. Short Game!😂
Yeps you saw it. Would be fun if he would comment on this vid. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Oh shit.
Surprised to hear that one, true, but surprised nonetheless.
Not bad I think you might have a chance getting your handicap down... hopefully it just starts clicking soon! I'm guessing you will end with 2.3
Love this series. My guess is 3.1
I properly pissed myself at the Tom Watson photos 😂😂😂
Don’t really understand how the handicap system works here but let’s say 2.1. Love the content.
Me neither
Putting looked great out there playa.
Atta boy, Matty boom boom 💥
I suggest standing closer to the ball, especially long irons. Might help with fat shots and pulls
Keep grinding out your strategy - 3.1
Sticking with 1.7
Bro needs to get some collabs done!
Is it Watson?.. is it Kite?..is it Weiskopf?...I don't know, maybe it's Arnold?!! All I know is at one time there were too many Toms in golf.
Less than 2, I feel a revelation coming.
Those courses look so god damn difficult man.
