i have the holbien set, i made a small pallette with them,i have over 20 little black tins altoid sized that all my tubes go in its so fun and satisfying to make my own .i still love my art whale and mission golds the most ,i paint bright rainbow colored art sometimes so my 6 full pans hold the roygbiv i dont do the indigo but should do that i can fit 7 pans ,lol, love your videos ,thank you

Dioxizine Purple is a very strong color. It’s kind of like the “worker bee” of purples. I’ve got several brands of it. I always try to remember to go easy with it bc it will dominate everything else if you’re not careful. Thanks, Miranda!

Beautiful painting! Ive got some a gallo paints, ive yet to try them out ih a painting. Some good info. A lot of artists have been reviewing them with swatches, handy to expect there may be some issues layering and to plan accordingly
Ooooooh, Isaro! I know they aren't the focus of this particular video, but I absolutely adore the paints from that tiny company. Their Powder Pink might be the most useful pink to have in one's color arsenal, in my humble opinion. It's unlike any pink of its type that I've ever found (it's not too cool, it's not too warm. It's juuuuuust right). If/when you order more from Jackson's at some point, I highly recommend including it in with your paint purchases. The only A.Gallo paints I've got are from an Earthy-muted palette I bought used off eBay, so I'm super jealous over those bright, beautiful colors in your collection. I'm so inspired now to go get more colors!
I'm really looking forward to trying the Isaro paints. I had forgotten about the Powdery Pink until you mentioned it. I did try to make my own version of it in a previous video based on a recommendation by Kimberly Crick and it was really pretty, but it would be great to have it directly from Isaro. Such a great color! I do love the colors in this A. Gallo set. ❤️
Thank you for sharing your paints. They are just beautiful. The rosemary oil is not overwhelming but just enough to smell occasionally just amazing. I do think that the papers that are with the individual pans are printed not hand painted because I thought they were hand painted until I got a single pan and then seems like it's more like a print but the swatches that the pans are wrapped in are a great match in my experience. I have not had any problems with the a. Gallo layering/ glazing. But like you said the paper and other things can make a difference just like any other supply. I like having a black as well, well, sort of a black. Instead of black, I decided to use Graphite Gray, which is made by both Daniel Smith and Schmincke. It mixes really well with the other 12 colors in my palette, and turns everything into a super granulating color. Your purple is the one I would always choose with a limited palette. I also usually sneak an Inktense stick or 2 into that middle place in the palette so that I can work in light brown or dark brown and paint over the top.
I like the idea of using the Graphite Grey. I never thought about adding in an Inktense stick or two, but that seems like a great idea! Thanks, Lisa. 😊
Hey Miranda! Yeay it is wonderful to see what you ended up getting with your Jackson's gift card. I have never tried either Isaro or A Gallo and will be interested to see what you think about them. Those Holbein paints are fantastic. I use them in the tube form, haven't tried their pan version. Oh that granulating black makes a fabulous mix and looks great on its own in your Dean Russo version painting. Hugs to you Miranda!!
I thought I was the only one..I bought a large set of A.gallo paints, going by what everyone was saying that they were paint prodigies.. then I tried it and it fell flatttt. I couldn't do anything with it I was so disappointed. Then after I tried and tried again.. and it got a little better.. still shmincke and Daniel Smith are my all time favorites.
Interesting... I am dying to get them out and try them again to see if I have the same experience, but I have a few other projects that need to come first. I do love the colors, but the blending and layering was a problem this time around. Only time will tell...

I have a few sets that have been in the window for two years now as of the 26th, so maybe I can do an update on those this coming week. I don't think the Rosa paints have been done yet or if they have, maybe not long enough? I'm far from home right now, but I'll check on Monday for sure!

Apparently a LOT easier, although I still have a lot more painting and experimenting to do. I think I will still LOVE these paints even so.
