Once again Ralf Schumacher & Gundy Keller rock it out on the 5th & final episode of the drum-tec Silent Studio Sessions (hopefully to be continued soon), featuring the beautiful drum-tec pro series electronic drums & a Roland TD-50 sound module, triggering some nice authentic rock drum sounds from Toontracks EZ Drummer 2.

Absolutely brilliant, Ralf & Gundy. Close your eyes and you will never know this is an actual electronic drum kit. This is as perfectly close as it can get.

Hey Ralf! Both of you sounded great! Man I love EZDrummer 2. What kit/pack in EZ2 were you triggering? Did you tweak any of the sounds or were they from a preset kit? Awesome drumming as always 👏💪😃

Yes, Silent Sessions 4 & 5 were spontaneaous jams at the studio during the shooting :) Gundy Keller is a great guitar/bass player to jam along with, he overdubbed some keys on session 4 & some bass guitar on session 5 afterwards. Kind regards!

Did you record both the drums and guitar during a live take? I would love to set up a silent session of my own; curious about your routing set-up and if you are using amplifiers before going into the laptop. Thanks for posting!
Hey Andrew, thank you very much! Yes all silent sessions have indeed been live takes :) there are some overdubbed additional instruments though (second guitar or bass/keys played by Gundy Keller as well). We had a super simple setup with a Macbook & an audio/midi interface, using the midi data coming from the TD-50 module to trigger the sample libraries & a DI signal coming from Gundy's guitar amp. Both was recorded in Logic & I mixed the sessions later on. Pretty straight forward, you can do that with all kinds of DI outputting instruments (guitar, bass, keys) :) kind regards!

It seems to me the the pearl mimic is quieter then the TD 50 when played on silent!
Can you load kits into a mimic module like you can with the td50?
Yes!
??? how can a module audio output be more silent than another one? Btw there is no Pearl Mimic in this video at all, and what you hear in the "silent sessions cam" passage is the room sound of the drum-tec pro series drum pads recorded with an ambience condenser microphone :-D kind regards!

Hey Carlos, this track was a spontaneous jam session that was not played with a click track. The additional bass & keys were overdubbed by Gundy Keller later. We are not planning to release this tune as a drumless track. Kind regards!

Nice but mixed really bad Ralph's one of my favorite drummers to Listen to and I can't even hear him. please turn that guitar down in the future.
