  • Surfboard Ding Repair | How to Fix Ding in the Rail Tutorial [start to finish]
In crowded surfing spots, it is common to have small dings in the rail from other surfers but they can be fixed very easily and be as good as new. this is an EPS board, I filled the gap with resin + Q-CELL to rebuild the shape of the rail, on top of that I laid 2 layers of 4OZ fiberglass and ended the job with water paper sanding and a clear coat - it looks and feels great.
hope this video will help you - please if you find this interesting hit the like and SUBSCRIBE to the channel!.

For the last 7 years, I shape and build surfboards in my small workshop and now I will expand for more great projects using Epoxy resin such as River tables, woodworking, and more. I will upload surfboard building tutorials, shaping tools reviews, and great tips about working with epoxy resin art.
All my boards are made from EPS and epoxy resin and I like to go crazy with my resin! I will do swirls using tints and pigments, cloth inlays, weird shapes, and more.
I can talk about surfboards all day, so feel free to ask me any questions you may have and I will do my very best to answer them in the best way possible

Hey mate great video, how long would you recommend waiting between the three steps of the process for the epoxy, fibreglass/resin and hot coat to dry?

In my country it is very hot (27c plus summer) so i can sand after 5-6H
To be 100% sure it's cured wait 24H every step

What if you just threw like three pieces of the fiberglass cloth over there doing? Why tear it out and refill?

If you leave a hole with air in it it will create a bubble when hot and cold air comes, you need to fill it solid and close is, this is the professional way to do it 🤙🏼

my epoxy long board got through some rocks and the rails are scratched a lot; non are deep but there are a lot. Nose and tail are very scatched but not like this one in the video; what do you do to scratches? you recommend ? thanks in advance for your response bro

you can send them gently and spray matt clear coat, you can try to sand with water paper (320 or 400) and some of them will go away or - sand them with 120 grit, do a resing hot coat (as thin as possible) and sand + finish. if the scratches bother you visually - just spray them with any color you like after slight sand with 240 or 320 grit 🤙

When you sanded around the ding, there appeared to be black material appearing. Is that carbon? If so how come the white covers the black?
