First batch arrives in December
At last!!!!!!!!!!! Finally a footwear I know that I can trust, now just gotta save up for a pair yaye. Rose Anvil is the GOAT!
Would love to, if only they made a size 15....
toe box is wide enough but not high enough
My Numzaans nr 10 is just sitting there, hight of toe box is the issue. That is without an insert, perhaps my nr 10 should have been a nr 11 but all my shoes are nr 10 with inserts.
Dude, I’ve been interested in melting the worlds of barefoot shoes, and heritage work boots for so many years. I actually bought a fair amount of traditional work boots and converted them into barefoot shoes over the years. I’m so happy that you are blazing the trail for us barefoot worker heritage boot nerd guys.
I bought the barefoot African Ranger 6 inch boots when they came out and I just bought a pair of the African troopers today.
@@quickXkidhey im looking for extra wide toebox workboots with heritage construction, but i want a heel on them since it is required for work, what would you recommend? would the jim green numzaan boot be wide enough?
@@bestfishingindonesia yes all the Jim green boots have a wide toe box even the ones with the heel. You can’t go wrong. I know Nicks boots has an anatomical toe box now if you want a REALLY beefy boot with a heel.
@@quickXkid awesome much appreciated! if i could afford nicks id already have a pair haha
The irony to this video is the Brunt boot ad I got midway through.😂😂😂😂
A national corporate I worked for supplied field staff with Jim Green boots as part of their corporate clothing.
Ordered mine today! So stoked to wear the sole down and then decide if I want to keep it barefoot or go with a more traditional boot sole! Had to jump on these for them being around 200 and the pay in 4 option was really nice to have!
Would be so cool to use a Vibram mega grip sole with the African Ranger boot.
Can't wait to try this boot out.
I wear Belleville / Tactical Research Minimil, which are the closest thing to a proper boot that is barefoot. But the heritage construction of this is brilliant! Can't wait to try these out.
same, in 12 wide. Just got the rangers in a 12. Fits.
Bought my dad the original JG African Ranger barefoot boot and he loves them!
I'm so glad I waited for your collaboration. Thank you so much for doing this!! Loving my barefoot rangers, counting the days until my troopers show up.
Now I'm wanting a jungle/desert version of this African Ranger boot to be made. Would really love a canvas upper.
I didnt love the look of these originally when you first showcased them. But its slowly growing on me. I think the fact that you have never really see a true heritage boot with zero drop like this before perplexing. I do wish a version with the original african ranger outsole but the build of these existed. But this is a good direction for barefoot boots and really paving the way.
I've gotten custom jobs done from Jim green before, I'm sure you could get a custom pair made like that
Oh, hell yeah they come in black. Thanks for all the work, these look incredible! Waiting for December now.
You can’t throw these sick videos out and now make me wait until December.
Super stoked
I love my barefoot African rangers. As a person working in construction and having spent to much time online/RUclips looking for something i would call "trade grade" at a price that offers high value, there really isn't a better option. Especially when you consider all the people you get to support with your purchase.
I love this channel. I have a pair of the originals, and I’ll need a pair of these as well!
I’ve been wondering about an insole. Perfect timing.
❤❤❤ I have already ordered my fudges! Thank you for making these together!
I love it! I think you just designed my ideal boot. Total respect for all the little details you put in.
I love this channel. I think he’s great. Also the collabs are often awesome. There is a lot of thought into what he does even if you don’t agree with it. He’s got integrity in his transparency.
I'm so sad the smallest is one size too big for me :'( please consider making them in a EU 38-39 in future batches!
Same here!
Contact Jim green directly. You probably can get a custom made one.
I hear ya, it’s a pattern amongst many different boot company’s.
@@RCWindham I looked up EU size 38-39 you should ask them if a size 7, 7.5 would fit.
Their sizes run down to US7 but the custom shop makes them down to US6@@rachelb2464
Gods I wish Jim Green'll keep making these long enough that I can afford a pair. I've been waiting for this style of boot for so long! I don't think the contradiction is nearly as counterintuitive as it seems. I'd love a pair of boots that is protective, durable and long lasting, but that also doesn't give me "arch support" and a heel, and finally gives me enough toe room. This looks like just the thing.
Just ordered a pair (in the Fudge color). I love my current Freet boots, but now TOTALLY understand the value of a properly made sole since the Freets are not stitched and are coming apart. Can't wait for my Barefoot African Troopers to arrive!
Great job! Can’t wait to order😊
Bought the first batch of the last collab absolute love them and almost ready for a resole and tempted on this pair as well
These look awesome! I cant wait to try them!
As a lover of heritage style with back problems, you can't imagine how pumped I am for this boot. After discovering the beauty of zero drop shoes, you can imagine my horror of having to give up my redwing collection as I just couldn't walk long distance in anything with a heel. I hope these boots are the answers to my problems 🤞
I love my JIM GREEN barefoot Shoellies, African Rangers, and now can’t wait for my Troopers in December! The only barefoot shoes/boots I will ever need for any Dressy, Casual, and Outdoor occasions! Thanks JIM GREEN & THANKS ROSE ANVIL ! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🐸🐸🐸🐸🥾🥾🥾🥾🥾🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
How do the Shoellies fit compared to the Rangers? I want a custom pair but was worried they might feel a little loose at the ankles since they don't have the padding that the Rangers do.
@@kitcraft9516 you are correct they are just a tad bit loose around the ankle but that’s maybe because I have thin ankles ? I could’ve sized down 1/2 size. They are my casual/dressy shoe. I love them. No real big complaints. I think they are perfect.
@@YouCanChangeYourWorldToday Thanks! That is what I was thinking. I could almost have gotten away with a half size down in the Rangers, but I like room to add big socks and wool insoles in the winter. I think going down might be the way to go. I am glad you are loving yours!
@@kitcraft9516 you’re welcome. ✌️
Need WIDE toe boxes for my hobbit feet. Barefoot shoes have been the only ones that fit comfortably. The shame is that I love the look and practicality of heritage work boots but cannot find any that fit properly. I am very glad that you've made these boots and look forward to picking up a pair!
Just got my fourth pair of Jim Green's - thanks to your recommendations over the years - and it was a custom designed pair from their custom program on their website. Really hard to beat JG price and quality on CUSTOM boots! And more to topic, I LOVE the rationale, thought, and detail that went into these Barefoot African Troopers (BAT). Gonna try real hard to wear out my first four pairs so I can justify yet another purchase of JGs! The BAT seems like a perfect boot for camping; single layer of leather dries - relatively - faster when wet. I will say I've added Finnish army Jalas FX2 insoles from Varusteleka to all my JG boots in place of their factory insole.😎
I'm in the same boat, I never cared about what shoes I wore until I found this channel. Now I have 5 different Jim greens, one of which I use for my job and I love them
@@jakepassolt9640 The custom pair I just got is for my job and has a composite safety toe.
JG's custom shop is the best part of this company. Just ordered my second pair of customs and will get a third pair when they get more buffalo skin.
Bought my husband the barefoot ranger and he absolutely LOVES IT! So much so i bought another pair in green!
Thank you thank you thank you! Ive been looking for this exact boot!
Bro! Nice Thrice shirt!! My favorite band since I was 14.
I found that when breaking in boots, if you get *WOOL* socks and wet them and rig them out the best you can, it accelerates the break in. This is because leather permanently moves with moisture, and if you start your day with slightly damp socks, instead of having to wait hours to start getting damp, it jumpstarts the process.
I hope you condition the leather a lot exile doing that, since it would also pull the oils out of the leather. Otherwise you would be accelerating the wear as well as the break in.
Took advantage of the early access and ordered a pair of black ones. So now the wait begins and I wonder if these will arrive before the Nicks that I ordered in April. 😄
Thanks for this, the BFARs meet my needs better and I love them, bought from the original drop. Only critique is a little more foot shaped aka more room for big toe splay.
I bought bearfoot brand boots they fell apart before a year. Sole coming apart and heel cover warn out. Can't wait to buy Jim green's barefoot boots.
Just recently picked up the original african ranger barefoots and I really like them as a light walker/hiker boot
Thank you for doing this
You nailed it 🥂
After looking for a while, and dreaming about it, I bought a pair of the African Rangers from Amazon. Had been wearing the Bellville Mini_Mil in wide. I tried on the Rangers, wore them around a bit. I came back inside, and pre-ordered the Troopers. Damn, Jim Green/Rose Anvil, I was not planning on that. Looking forward to the boots. John
The more the merrier, what a great entry into the market, thank you.
Wow people are haters. Looks like a great boot, definitely next pair I pick up. Glad I waited , was going to buy the ranger but there was no 8 inch
Love these videos!
I would love to see you do a loafer, like weejun’s or sebago, even a boat shoe like sperry’s.
Best regards
Thank You!
so sick. def gonna buy these even though im just a city boy.i love that we can all nerd out here over boots n leather
good concept design man 👏💪
Patiently waiting for cowboy boots to returns to this channel
Got a pair. My general buck naaked costume has never looked better
Just got myself a pair of AR8's, probably can't stretch to a second pair in the same month..
Am looking for something lower cut but with a different look. Have you heard of Urban Shepard from portugal?
V tempted by their "country" boot.
Thoughts / opinions.. Alternative options in the EU? (import duty kills :( )
Finally. This is the boot I've been waiting for.
I need to get a pair for Jim Green boots. Ive been wearing a pair of Thorogoods for work for about 3 years now. Tho i didn't work very consistently until this year. They are probably due for a resole, but they are getting a bit tore up in some spots. Im wondering if a rough out is a better option for sheetmetal, since I work with sharp metals that slice through the top of the grain. Id love a PNW boot, but I don't want to wait 2 years for them. Ill figure something out.
I purchased a pair of White's Boots Centennial Walking Shoes about 5/6 years ago. They were basically the shoe version of the Centennial Hiking Boots. They came with standard block heels, but when I took them in to get resolded, we decided on the Christy wedge as a replacement. Those soles tended to wear out fairly quickly. He said that the Vibram Newporter would last longer, and ground down the christy wedge flat on one side to accept the thin Newporter sole. The wedge still has a bit of lift, but a shoe company could make a thicker mid-sole that was completely flat to make it zero drop. It wouldn't me minimalist due to the thick sole, but would satisfy the zero drop enthusiasts. They could even use the Munson last to add to the benefits of the zero drop. Both Nick's and JK seem to offer something similar to the Munson Last, so it's been done.
Absolutely,I wonder if you could cut the aigle discovery leather boot in half! Best greetings from Germany, your work is much appreciated!
Omg I have been waiting soooo long
Just wanted to say the rest of us barefoot nerds appreciate your effort. Just got my green barefoot JG’s today, I hope these sell well. I always ended up doing something too heavy duty in my barefoot shoes so a well built flat & roomy boot is perfect. I love the frog, i wish he was bigger.
I've got a pair of Vivo Tracker Forests and Bearfoot Bruins. Barefoot African Rangers are the next pair I've got my eye on and I'm gonna have to follow them up with a pair of these.
So good to see a boot like this. Next it would be really cool to see a barefoot jungle boot made in the same vein as these.
Do they come in different widths? I usually wear a size 11.5 FF in Nick’s. I’m hoping these will be wide enough for me.
I was expecting to get a notification for these today. I can't decide between these and a custom pair of AR8's with the OR African Ranger sole. When I saw that I would have to wait till December for these I ordered a custom pair of AR8's. Maybe when these are offered by the JG custom shop I will get a pair.
Preordered during the early pre-pre-sale, set my alarm for that order. Already have the barefoot African Rangers and love them. I'm just gonna keep on buying your barefoot collabs. Can you make a daily leather dress shoe or boot for your next collab?
Hi are these water resistant/proof and able to step into puddles, not soak in water from rain?
I ordered a pair. Can't wait to wear them.
What is the thin, whitish layer @7:05 at the heel? I see this in almost all Jim Green boots, and my razorbacks are the same way. It bothers me enough that it prevents me from getting another pair of JG boots.
How would this compare with other minimalist boots like the Belleville Mini-Mils, etc?
I would like to see this boot on the channel as well.
I just bought a new pair of Gravel Gear 8" Logger boots. The material of the upper is Briar Pitstop leather and is gorgeous! What worries me is the cheap ass card board that's under the foam insole. The boots have a 390 Goodyear welt and brass screws but also have a reputation for the outsole coming unglued. Would you please cut a pair in half? Great show! Thanks!
Really awesome! Next on the list should be a barefoot leather field shoe based on the vellie or shoellie but with a wide toe box and no drop
I have already ordered my troopers plus 2 barefoot rangers. I love them! Is it possible to get them made down to a 6? I have enjoyed my barefoot rangers so much!! I want to get these and rangers for my wife, but they are just too big for me to convince her.
Would you recommend going a half or a full size up if I wanted to wear thick socks and put a more insulating insole for use in the winter?
Half size is what the fitting email said
Kinda like tall african rangers. I really like them. Thanks for making this happen. Probably gonna put my order in real soon.
Can you do Dc court graffik shoes? They are my favorite but i suspect they are skimping on the insoles as the inside blows out and i lose support even though the shoes are barely worn down. In might just be that im a big dude and on my feet all day
I love barefoot shoes but i spend a lot of time on ladders. Any chance it would be possible to have a barefoot sole with a reinforcement / shank?
can you make a video with recommendations are to how to maintain these and treat the leather? Thank you!
how is the water resistance? are these going to be adequate in snow?
I really dig the look of these and may save up to get them. That being said, i cant be fooled into thinking of them as "work boots"
On your recommendation I bought Buffalo AR's and couldnt be happier with them. Replaced the insoles with dr scholls and can go all day on concrete construction sites. I think these would work well as "leather converse" when im on my free days wanting to wear something unique and comfy. I dropped a wooden board on my toe wearing the AR's and felt that one for weeks! That celastic toe stiffener doesnt do anything to protect the toe box. When it comes to heavy work, I gotta take some liberties with comfort and pull on the steel toe redwings for some shitkicking.
TLDR, I want to skate in these 😂
They look great, fair price too!!
There's a company called Gaucho Ninja making what they claim to be the only goodyear welted barefoot boot. Would love to see you do a video on it after mentioning the benefits of stitchdown on these.
I absolutely love my bfar's btw. Glad you did that collab. They my be too much of a compromise for barefoot die hards, but im just happy to have a (imo) good looking shoe that doesnt hurt my feet and also isnt from a gimmicky barefoot brand with poor construction.
I've noticed that Jim Green sells the barefoot boots in both styles up to size 14, but you only have the anvil sole and boot breaker listed for up to size 13?
I like the looks of them! I think I’m ordering a pair of those beauties!👌🥰👍they look Awesome!
I Love your channel. Have you seen the Russell Moccasin Joe's PH Premier with the Newporter Sole?? Maybe it doesn't meet the criteria of barefoot boot but it's close. I love mine.
Very cool
Not my cup of tea but dayam, respect to all the work gone into it.
I just placed my order for a pair of those beauties!👌😎👍 Can’t wait to get my feet’s on them!
Order is place on the houston black color! I've been looking for a barefoot style boot like these for an eternity. I've been looking for a barefoot style hightop as well (like Converse, but with that wide toebox), so if y'all are ever looking to go down that road, I'll be a likely buyer.
Converse-style barefoot-designed sneakers could be Bohempia's "ORIK" model or maybe Groundies' "Brooklyn High" model. Otherwise, there's plenty of other kinds of sneaker styles as vastly listed in Anya's Reviews article on them.
I see a possibility of turning these into a barefoot engineer boot 😮😊
Love these boots
Vivobarefoot has a winter barefoot work boot that is awesome! I wear them into the spring.
Vivo’s Gobi Desert boot was my favorite barefoot shoe the past 3 years until Jim Green came out with their barefoot designs ! Jim Green is my favorite brand now !
I love the high top barefoot boots👍, and plan on buying them closer to winter. Would it be possible for you guys to work on a low top barefoot African ranger? please. Something that looks good with shorts. I have a custom pair of the shoellie model with the rose anvil barefoot sole, but they look like dress shoes. I can’t wear them with shorts. A low top African Ranger would be amazing for summer.(Also adding vent holes would be awesome) Thank you
What's bizarre to me is that these boots are actually cheaper than a pair of vivo forest esc's, which have a tendency to delam and are not resoleable. ....is it December yet? 😅
Will there be an option for size 15 anytime soon?
Love this channel. But please more history military boots 👍 those videos are fantastic
Good looking boot.
Are the black ones shineable? I want a pair for work 🤞
These look great! Think you guys will offer wides? My feet are 5.2” wide ain’t no way I’m squeezing into these but I want them.
Like them but don't wanna wait till December hahaha
Can I send my Trooper boots back to Jim Green for sole/boot repairs?
Huh why are heritage boots not zero drop normally? Like my Nike invicble 3 have 4 inchs of zero drop wisbang foam why can't a boot have 4 inchs of rubber/leather and be zero drop?
The drop makes it easier to squat, kneel, and stand on/walk up and down slopes. That's why PNW boots especially have higher heel stacks.
Usually it’s because of the “heritage” part. There are some advantages to having a heel, which were good advantages to have back in the day as a logger or whatnot (still can be useful today, just depends on what you are doing). Wedge soles are not exactly zero drop, but tend to fill the niche of a flatter sole that is more comfortable for flat ground.
As a Rancher, this is nearly exactly what I’ve been looking for. Want to be barefoot, but still have some protection in rough country.
Breathable and leather are not words I have ever associated with each other.
These actually look great. I bet if Ye were to see these he'd 100% wear em.
Would really like to see you cut into a pair of whites c350 cruisers (or original cruisers) have a pair backordered right now and there really aren't many reviews out there.
Really getting a waxi boot vibe from these. Considering picking up a pair just for that.
sick good one
