- If holding down the two buttons doesn't work try this easy hack. Take off the face plate, find the black/white wires and red/blue wires that are connected; dryer: wires are connected at top as seen in these video, washers the wires are connected at the bottom.

I was a maintenance man at a 36 unit complex with 5 washer a and 5 dryers
Just before I quit I rigged the wiring on all the machines so that when you pushed start twice it gave a free wash and free dry. I told a few residents who were single moms with 5 kids how to do this
my man, I love you more than u know for this... that is what being a human is all about, if only landlords had that mentality.. I want to light this building I'm renting in on fire because they're over charging on rent, then have the nerve to charge per load.. but to do that to a single mom where that could be used for food for the kid? fuck out of here

Watched the video. Went out to my laundry room with a butter knife. Took out the screws on the right side back panel enough to reach those plugins. My laundry is now going for free. SERIOUSLY FROM SOMEONE WHO PAYS 5 DOLLARS A LOAD THANK YOU SO MUCH!

glad to see so many people defending their landlords who make ridiculously high amounts of money off of them for rent every month. these poor hard working building owners who did all the hard work of using money to buy a building and get so so rich off of just owning it and doing nothing. how will they afford the indoor hottub in their summer home without the extra couple bucks they charge you for the privilege of doing laundry in the building they charge you to live in :/
Most of the landlords don't own the equipment in the laundry room.

The building had a 10 year contract with the company and they wouldn't replace older machines that would take 2/3 cycles to dry clothes. I spoke with the building manager about the problem and they informed me there was nothing they could do because the company said "they still work". I showed them how to do this and the maintenance man did it to all the machines in the building.

@@kctalksf1 Let me guess the service they use for the laundry room is Coinmach or their rebranded name of CSC Services? Yes, they are terrible at servicing the machines? If that is the case yes, they do a commission split with the landlord. So, in most cases the landlord is not getting rich off of it. As, one person said stealing a $1.75 is lowlife. That is what they want for a Coke from a vending machine. Yesterday, I paid a $1.25 to use a car wash vacuum for THREE MINUTES and the suctioned sucked. So, by comparison $1.75 is cheap.
This is a good thing for authorized repair techs to use. I have just taken the 2 top screws out. Don't think you have to take the side pieces off. Thanks for the video. I posted one as well not for this but for something else

Just tested this on my apartment complex washer and it worked! It was the only one in the laundry room that was the same model as in the video.
I tried it just now too. It wasn't spinning so I disconnected it, connected back on then tried this hack and it worked

I am a small company who owns a number of these machines at apartments and hotels. I am not the landlord. These machines now cost $2000 a piece. You are stealing from working people just like your self's. If you damage the machine the board may need replaced with is like $600. So I and others simply will increase prices to try and stay in business.. Just think about how hard it is to own a small business and make money before you do this.

tried it on other ones and didn't work so I guess i got lucky. if I tried it on any other one and failed I'd probably think it was a fake hack.
It's probably just a jumper on the logic board that when removed puts it in service/test mode. You got to hand it to her for using power tools and not being afraid to go in there as most woman I know would be afraid to do this (even though it's low voltage at the logic board). And what's up with all you haters wishing bad on her? I give her props! Besides, if places made the use of the machines more affordable, there would be no need to hack them except for the challenge factor.
If it were me, I'd probably be creating an arduino based circuit with a relay to automate this and not have to open the panel ever again.

I know this post was 3 years ago but I was wondering if you can help me figure out how to undo what they just did. I have before and after pictures. My condo is insane. They are having a 8 million dollar assessment, they just increased the laundry loads… before it was like urs now it looks different
My current apartment building has decided this is the way and just leave the screws on top undone. At one time when I hit the coin release button on the dryer, it would act as if money was being dispensed and I have been trying to figure out how that happened ever since.
My building changing 2.00 a wash 1.25/dryer and most of the time you gotta rerun the dryer 2x to fully dry in a building of 12 units a building about 30 buildings do the math we should be over having SAMSUNG OR LG SMART WASHERS lol
Then theirs the electricity and hot water and Gas your are overlooking. Plus the repair maintenance bills.

Today most techs would leave the wires disconnected. so they would not have to go back in and change things. This way, the set up is right on the display. The techs say it may cost them too much in time to put the wires together again. Some machines would have them connected and some do not. Most do not at this time. (March 2022). This is for card reading Speed Queen Machines only. At least this machine was correctly set up with the security wires in place.
And do not attempt to do any hacks to get free wash or free dryer, Under penalty of law, I believe it would be under "Theft of Service(s)"

Press start twice or more and it should work. It doesn’t start the first press so you can change heat and material settings

So if you are a manager or property owner and you have someone doing this it's theft, just remover the wiring harness completely. You won't be able to do this. This is a service mode. Witch can ruin your cloths in done improperly

Don't need to unscrew sides just top 2 screws it will flip down..and the wires are different on mine don't know what to pull ..it was a barrel lock wire connector was blue not black and white .. be careful Zapp there is a good chance to get electrocuted. I don't recommend opening any machines while powered up..hem hem cough cough..

I submit to you that while the cost of these machines may indeed be a large sum of money, it is negligible when you replace them every decade and are using the rent collected by your (most likely) disadvantaged tenants whose rent is already barely manageable. The commodities in the rental property are paid for by the cost to live there which you assign the tenants to pay. The owners are getting rich and not even putting the profited money back into most buildings to improve them. At least where I live, they raise the rent and absolutely no improvements and the building looks like $hit.
