Thank you for posting this. I am a property owner and I lost my keys. I was afraid to DIY this but your video gave me the confidence to try. I had to work at it, but ultimately I was able to open both boxes. Appreciate your help!
Thanks for your video. Someone tried to steal the coins in the laundry room, but left a broken piece of the metal inside the lock. I was lucky to drill it out with an 1/8 inch carbide bit, and was able to retrive the coin box using the original key. That just made my day.
@Max Rodman Hey genius, without landlords you wouldn't have a place to live. If you want to F&^k a LL then buy a House. Quit bitching and invest in yourself.
@Max Rodman Who buys the homes/apartments that carpenters build? Again you need them, if you don't like the LL, get your own place. Simple, if you can't afford to buy, then get a better job or work 2 jobs. Most importantly invest in yourself and you will most definitely stick it to the man. Hard work pays off, bought my first house at age 20, back then I made $4 an hour and intrest rates were 18%. Worked 2 jobs and still had time to play. Of course there was no internet to waste my time. Or are you the slacker / victim type. I'm done wasting time on your ridiculous comments. Bye

Works! Just sucks a lot. But if you take a different bit and really just try to push through the metal “gates” it creates such a heat that it makes the metal more mailable and easier to pry open. I used 2 flat heads stuck in there and then took a 3rd and smashed it I. Between the 2 with a hammer after heating it up.
There are different levels of security on those boxes. Mine unfortunately was high security. 40 min of drilling later had to take a cutting torch for it. Low security are about 40. The high security medico or cobra are 60-70$
My first one took 3 hours! I think I broke off my screwdriver tip in the lock. My next three took 5 to 15 minutes each! I drilled 3/ 16 first til it went through, then 1/4 to eat the screw in back so the nut comes off. Didnt bother too much " wallerin out" that front key guard,as the bits will slide in at the right angle. Thanks! we saved over 1k dinero.
My landlord decided that we have to share a washer and dryer with a neighbor that takes quarters and they take it. It's a small washer and dryer and costs $2.50 to do a load of laundry
That's a good deal, I charged 1.50 to wash and 1.00 to dry. The dryer cycle was 55 Minutes. I think that's fair EDIT.... I would also sanitize the units up to 3 times per week. I wanted long dry time so as to get clothes good and dry and have clean machines. Not all landlords do this.
@@breakerbroke23 I just wish I had a washer and dryer that i could use as much as i wanted and anytime i wanted to. I can't afford to do laundry sometimes which isnt fun
If you have laundry hook ups in your home/apt, then I would look at CL or local ads, I bought a W&D for my youngest Daughter for $150, they were a bit elderly but worked in a pinch. If you dont have hookups you could look for a apartment unit that may work. ( Just a thought amzn.to/3a5Wf70 ) They can be had on the cheap but they do breakdown a lot.. Good luck. Cheers
@@breakerbroke23 thank you! My apt building is literal trash (my apt is the attic of an old funeral home and it shows) and I'm paying WAY to much for it now paying more for a washer and dryer that doesnt really even work isnt fun.
This is waaayyy late, but I wanted to let you know that those tube locks are junk. I can get thru them with my impression er in about as fast as you can use the key. Get the medeco lock instead. I can still pick them, but it does take more time, and that might be just what you need to catch someone in the act!! Get a hold of me about security issues, I’ll set you up proper.
Thanks, I work at a hotel. Some jerk broke a small key in the lock and our key no longer works. Machine is out of order due to I am unable to empty the box. I have a new box and key, I will try this when I go to work on Monday. A co-worker tried to use the key, and pushed the broken piece all the way in after he was told to leave that machine alone.. idiot
Use the largest flat blade screwdriver you can find. Stick in there and turn the blade around (clockwise I think) until you can get the cams to move, then using upward pressure use the screwdriver to help pull the coin box out.

Will this damage the coin box?
yes back when I did this job I bought new coin boxes off ebay. They were not expensive back then.......
Can these be picked any other way?
