  • Finishing the process and packaged for church. Ok, so the pieces meant for the pastors to "break" were falling apart. Ha! I had some others set aside for the church service. You know how things don't always go just right when the camera is rolling... wink Hope these videos are helpful. Blessings!

    1 Corinth 11:29.
    The unworthiness is not being a perfect sinless being, it's not discerning the Lords body; if you do not believe in this service.
    We are all unworthy and that's why we have this service :) Come Boldly and in confidence because Heaven rejoices :) Pastor Henry Wright

    Vicki Rutherford, our local church communion bread quality is decreasing. The bread is very soft and flexible and a bit doughy. What do you this is the matter?

  • @lindsaymanalang1509
    @lindsaymanalang1509 8 лет назад +1

    I wonder why the bread is darker and square and does not have a cross for sign

    • @msinglinksgirl
      @msinglinksgirl  6 лет назад +2

      lindsay2114, it’s darker because we use whole wheat flour rather than white flour. It’s square simply because that’s our tradition. I think if we could go back in history we would probably be surprised at what the bread was like that Jesus used at Passover. Historians have made ancient Roman style bread. We can assume that today’s Middle Eastern flatbreads are probably pretty much the same as back in Jesus’s time. He and the disciples probably had several flat “loaves” that He broke and shared around with them all. The important thing is that it was “unleavened,” or yeast-free. In our tradition, we don’t put any stamp or mark on it other than the pricking with a fork-very much like(and for the same reasons) making pie dough. 😊

    I tried making communion bread for the first time and was wondering, is it supposed to be crispy or soft in texture? Does it matter? I appreciate your time and response. Blessings!

    • @msinglinksgirl
      @msinglinksgirl  Год назад +1

      It's not crisp, like regular store-bought crackers, but more like the crimped edge of a pie shell. The time for baking is dependent on your oven. I usually take a piece from the middle of the pan and check to see that the dough is cooked through the center. Sometimes it needs a minute or two more.

    • @ireneguzman2879
      @ireneguzman2879 Год назад

      @Vicki Rutherford when I made it, it was not crispy it was a little soft. It tasted very good. Some enjoyed the taste. I had maybe one or two tell me they prefer theirs a bit crisper.
      At the end of the day, for the first time trying, it seemed to me good. It did not fall apart it held its shape.
      I appreciate your response.

    Thank you so much for sharing this video. I have uses you method now for several years. However I find that when using the amount of salt you use it comes out to salty. I’m sure it has to do with individual likes. Nonetheless it is always a great blessing making communion bread.

      Araceli Cortes , we usually use kosher salt (larger crystals) instead of table salt. Using table salt will make it too salty, I agree. You may adjust the recipe to your tastes. 😊

    What happens to left over communion bread?

    • @msinglinksgirl
      @msinglinksgirl  8 лет назад +3

      +Hope Goodwin
      Hi, Hope! Sorry I'm just now responding. Our church manual for the denomination as a whole instructs us to "burn" the bread that has been blessed for this service. We remove any left over bread and put it in a paper bag along with the paper doilies it was lying on. A deaconess with a fireplace takes it home to burn. We also have a fireplace at church where it can be burned. When it was my responsibility to burn it, my husband and I stayed after church quite a while watching to make sure that it had burned up completely. Good time for contemplation...
      We use 100% grape juice (the unfiltered varieties are yummy!) for communion. Any of it that was used for the service is collected in a pitcher and poured out on the ground at the base of a tree in our church yard. I think that's pretty fitting when we consider that Christ's blood was spilled onto the ground at the base of a "tree." Also, in the wilderness sanctuary services, the Israelites were told to take the remains of the sacrificial lambs outside of the camp and burn them. So perhaps that's where we have taken the idea to burn the remains of the bread.
      Any bread that was NOT served (blessed) during the service is kept in the church refrigerator for the pastors and deacons to use for shut-ins and those who may otherwise have been unable to attend the service. It can be frozen, but we prefer to make fresh bread (small batch) if a need arises after about a week.
      God bless you, Hope!

    For the longest time, our small Southern church has been using those little store-bought wafers and let's just say our elders have become dis-satisfied with them and asked if someone could make communion bread. I thought I would but now watching the process and thinking about the symbolism, I don't feel that I'm worthy of making it. Does that make sense?

    • @msinglinksgirl
      @msinglinksgirl  6 лет назад +2

      Oh, no, friend! If you love Jesus and want to serve Him, I’m sure your gift of time and willingness will be worthy! Smile, pray, and charge right into it! Your church will be blessed, and so will you! Let me know how it goes, please.
