- Tennis icon Chris Evert, 68, has announced she’s been diagnosed with cancer for the second time less than a year after remission. She is reminding others of the importance of remaining vigilant about your health. NBC’s Liz Kreutz reports for TODAY.

Chris has been so public with her battle with cancer. She has raised awareness about testing and definitely lent her fighting spirit to those battling cancer themselves. Of the accomplishments in her life, this might be the greatest of them all. She's going to come through this just fine and she'll continue to educate us all about the disease. One of the greatest fighters in all of women's sports.

Always steely, always determined, hated losing (which rarely happened) BUT, whatever the outcome, gracious in every match from the first point to the last. Chris Evert deserves her status as an American sporting icon. Wishing this lady all the best in this her latest battle.
