Contralto de lujo...
The choir is great too.
O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion,
get thee up into the high mountain.
O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion,
Get thee up into the high mountain.
Get thee up into the high mountain.
O thou that tellest good tidings to Jerusalem,
Lift up thy voice with strength, lift it up, be not afraid,
Say unto the cities of Judah,
Say unto the cities of Judah:
Behold your God, behold your God!
Say unto the cities of Judah:
Behold your God, behold your God, behold your God!
O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion,
Arise, shine, for thy light is come.
Arise, arise, arise, shine, for thy light is come.
And the glory of the Lord,
The glory of the Lord is risen, is risen upon thee, is risen, is risen upon thee.
The glory, the glory, the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
no one like her !!!
magnifico ! ; ella canta en alemán, ¿por qué no hay versiones en español de esta gran obra?
1741 Text in English by Jennens . Handel resided there: not Italy or Germany . So Messiah an English language work primarily. First performed in Dublin with money going to charity . This tradition has continued through the English speaking world in which you hear it a lot round Xmas and Easter by amateur and professional choirs. Many people know a lot of it off by heart. Mozart produced a German version! I had not heard it in German before! I guess it would take a Spaniard with a passion to do the translation. It's not Handel's best composition and indeed is always edited somewhat. Maybe an opportunity for a Spanish composer to pick the best passages and produce a brilliant short version with no musical padding!
Fab choir, too. Who are they?
