Two things. 1) If the power systems for the station are out, that would probably have some impact on how well the station can handle casualties until repairs are made. Now, it’s minor damage, and they probably have some backup generators to power emergency systems (unless those got specifically targeted by the traitor among them as well). But it probably makes the overall situation worse until resolved. 2) If the 800+ casualties are based on the entire population of the station, that’s probably not just patients seeking treatment at this station already. I’d imagine there’s a chance that there’s some facility personnel on that list too. Which would also make the situation worse. I think the mitigating circumstance here would be what’s the percentage of personnel vs patients. If there are more patients than doctors to begin with, ever doctor on the casualty list is going to be bad.
So do I just need 2D20 for this, I don’t need bunch of D6 too? And does this ever use more than just 2D20 like I’ve heard the main STA game does sometimes? Trying to work out what to buy in addition when I order captains log as my first Star Trek rpg experience! Looks great from what I’ve seen
Not that I’ve seen. Discord, blogs, twitch, RUclips, AO3, BGG, etc. lots of places. I’m waiting on my AO3 account to open and I’ll use that to share the end results.
Would you do a set up video on the green highlighted text outline you have in your document? Really enjoying this series! :) Thank you for sharing this.
Also maybe shrink the video of you or pull up the document up so we can see as your typing. Some text areas are hidden behind your camera. No big deal, but it would help me at least. Thank you. :)
Given that this solo RPG is setup to ape a tv episode, I'm wondering about generating the rest of the "cast" as part of the initial process. A typical tv show has a bible that includes the main cast of character as part of it, and the design of the ship. In this vid, the main character interacts with the captain of the ship, but nothing is known about the captain, apart from their rank. I think I would generate the NPC bridge crew, Chief Engineer, CMO and perhaps another person or two in Sick Bay, plus some red shirts. That would give a number of people to choose from when building a landing party/away team. I don't think you have shown us how an NPC is generated yet, but perhaps a generic cast sheet for the crew with just some basic details for each position and the player can generate their race, a small bit of background - name, race, gender, pronouns, and the ability to vary a stat or two for them, just to add a bit of flavour. Just a suggestion.... I do think it would add more detail, and perhaps ownership, that would exist in a non-solo version of the game. it would add to the show by having almost a title sequence before the first scene of the episode/game.
In part 4 I spent some time rolling species and names for a bunch of the NPC bridge crew. I'll do that as more NPCs come up, but I felt like it read pretty boring on screen. I don't know that anyone wants to sit through me rolling on the species and names tables over and over. :) I could be wrong. Once I finish this first story and start a new campaign, I'm planning to approach it like building a new series, and I'll be supplementing that with some additional videos on how to build a campaign for both STA and Captain's Log. Thanks for the comments, and stay tuned!
Story is getting good! Watching the process is making me excited to see how the final product comes together and read it in fanfic form.
Thanks for watching!

Yep. Fun times.

Just 2d20. There is one table that calls for 3d20, but whether you need 3d20 is your call.
@@scribe_ineti awesome, thank you that's great to know! ^^
You're welcome!@@tashacraven
Remember, when you roll an Advantage, you can also roll on the momentum spend tables
Yeppers. :) thanks for the reminder
Is there a central place where people are posting their Captain’’s Log adventures?

Sure thing!
Thank you so much! :)
@@Number01 Thanks for the idea!

I could probably just hide the video of me speaking. There's only so much screen real estate. Focus on the content, right? :)

6% of 14,000 people is 840 (2 Constitution Class worth) of casualties. Yikes!
Yep. I did my math and approximated. That’s a lot of injuries. Fortunately no fatalities…yet.
