Sitting here listening to Mama Bates talk about hushpuppies…. Here is Australia.. a hushpuppy is a shoe… talk about different worlds.
I live in Alabama and hushpuppies are the best. You need to look up a recipe for southern hushpuppies and make some. They are so good! They are also easy to make.
Hush puppies are a shoe here in USA as well.
The story I have always heard about the origin of the name hush puppies is that when the men had caught a bunch of fish and they got together to have a big fish fry outdoors the dogs would be around wanting some scraps. They would be barking and yelping … the people cooking would take a small amount of the cornbread mix and drop it in the cooking oil this would be done with several large spoonfuls of batter when they were done the men cooking would toss these to the dogs and say “hush puppies”. I suppose you know what hush means but just in case it just known over here the meaning is -be quite- or hush/ puppies another word for dog.
Language is very interesting and I love learning about others colloquial terms. Hope you enjoy this.

I live in Southport, bottom edge between the ICW and the ocean. I have never lived more than 10 minutes from the ocean. Originally from the Jersey shore. Southport is a lovely small fishing town.

Tiffany's belly reminds me of Sheri J. Wilson (Walker Texas Ranger) when she was pregnant. She was on Regis and Kelly at the time. Kelly commented how her belly was so small it looked like a basketball.

Mama B is like me; I love giving gifts, and she never fails to. Gil won't get mad b/c he understands her spirit and the love behind it; it's one of her ways of showing love to her family(her love language). God bless her and all of you! Cape Hatteras light house I climbed before it was moved to the current location. Love the island last time there in 2019 was evacuated by a hurricane. Had to leave 4 days early.

We are actually heading to OBX the middle of July. Coincidentally., we are renting the same house y’all did. Prior to booking, I was reading the rental house reviews on Wander and saw the Stewart’s video review. What a small world! That we’d rent the same house! The Lost Colony production has my attention.
