According to the newest referendum in Crimea bridge, 99.3 percent of the bridge decided to be a part of sea.
Only 99.3 ?

Respect the will of The Bridge!
Hahahahaha
It's not an explosion, it is a special fireworks operation. Happy birthday, Putin, The Ukrainians really know how to throw an after party. 🤣
They sure do 😂🎉
I can't understand why Ukrainians wouldn't want to return to the happy days of pogroms, Holodomor, Chornobyl, and Stalinist purges? If Trump likes Putin he must be a swell guy!
It is terrorism.ukrain learned from taliban.west is very happy.😁😁😁
I won't tire of this joke for decades to come.
Sweet!
Also this initial attack on the bridge tells the attacker a critical piece of information which they didn't know before and that is now they know much better how much more powerful the next blast needs to be to fully sever the link.
While the Russians sit on their hands and sing Kalinka (again) ? I guess a second time around will be a little bit more difficult now ?
@@Retroscoop They are drinking vodka to forget the first attack, so second attack will be easier (just kidding)..
I think the bridge was attacked from underneath, lifting the bridge up and then it broke as it came crashing down on the main support pylon. Possibly a suicide drone of sorts packed with tonnes of explosive.
@@methylene5 If it was an explosion on the road surface, they said it would make a hole in the road - but we can't see, because that part of the road is underwater.
@@DownhillAllTheWay Yes, but two spans are destroyed, a single impact would only destroy one. The bridge spans are held in place by gravity (to allow for thermal expansion due to temperature changes), so the spans are easier to lift up by attacking underneath with a large explosion.
Michael Clarke is the first authoritative figure I've heard today to rule out the truck bomb theory: yet it still seems to me the most plausible explanation, given the immense size of the blast and the difficulty of mining such a well-protected structure - but unlike me he usually knows what he's talking about.
well this is Ruzzia we are talking about, with how low thier troop's morale has been who is to say the troops would not slack off on the security job?
Well however it was done it was absolutely masterful work of subterfuge... Considering how protected that bridge was.
I respect him but this time what he says is bs . Most combat veterans who had witnessed truck explosion say it way that, easy cheap no need massive logistic . One can clearly see the fireball expands above the bridge not from underneath . Moreover we see large pieces of concrete remaines . From a underneath explosion nothing would have left of that section .So the explosion hit the bridge from above . We talk about 1- 2 tonnes of birthday cake or even more judging the size of the fireball .
He does tend to repeat the popular refrain - he isn’t balance in my opinion
@@paulandolyaorovan4947 No, the popular refrain is the truck bomb theory and he was contradicting it.
Also well timed. There was a fuel train that was hit, obviously making the explosion worse.
Well timed ? An explosion a fuel train putins birthday well timed ?
@@mikedcaffey Intresting, everyone else could clearly see the fuel train burning. 💁♂️

So thoughtful of the Ukrainians to give Putin such a wonderful birthday present, he will no doubt have fond memories of this birthday present on his next birthday and birthdays after, he must be so joyous.
I am not sure Putin will have any more birthdays.
This is one birthday celebration that Vladolf Putler will never forget
Hopefully, the next time will be 'anniversary'.
Probably send fireworks to Ukraine to celebrate

Please give Michael Clarke his own segment on SKY NEWS! Or at least a fresh Q & A...? :)
Prayers for the innocent people that were on the bridge during the explosion :(
Russians in occupied crimea aren’t innocent
Intense fire can damage both the concrete that serves as the road deck and the support piers for the bridge, as well as the steel that reinforces the concrete. Even if a bridge doesn't collapse in a fire, the damage can leave concrete crumbling and the steel warped and weak.

2 to 3 weeks to repair? It's been 6 years where I live and the same stretch of road isn't finished WTH!
It will take more than 2 or 3 weeks to repair the collapsed road bridge but a contraflow system on the remaining carriageway could be set up quickly. The rail bridge will be weakened by the heat from the burning tankers. That would take a long time to repair properly by cutting out and replacing the rebar but knowing Russia they will just replace some of the track. Eventually that section of the bridge will show signs of failure.
Wow!!!

Russia will "repair" it with Chinese tofu dregs
The remaining carriageway was not affected and is apparently already re-opened to traffic.
Hopefully they finish off the rail bridge with Round 2

Professor Clark is the man...So knowledgeable.
Just now, the Crimea bridge caught fire due to accidental smoking. Ukrainian authorities refused to send fire trucks to the scene to put out the fire because Ukrainian authorities did not issue a bridge construction permit. 😢
Now Putin's ears are smoking....
Good…
Something tells that Russia will not leave it unanswered 🤔
Great ! why are u sad???
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
The intense amounts of sparks directly after the explosion suggests thermite. I'm very confident that this was a special services operation where they got underneath in the services structures under the bridge.
Cleared too quickly for that, unless as the initiator. Still go for a vacuum bomb.
What a horrible act of terrorism.
Very very special
Looks like we have an armchair general here guys 😂😂
Nope , rocket fuel . That lory was carring a rocket of some sort of stuff plus a warhead or warheads.
In 1917-1918, Lawrence of Arabia proved that the best strategy for disrupting Turkish trains supplying their forces in Arabia was to use explosives to severely damage, but not bring down, railroad spans over bridges and culverts. That way, the Turks were faced with the task of first demolishing and removing the wrecked structure, and then replacing it with new construction or extensive rebuilding. The fire-damaged train bridge in this Ukrainian operation is a perfect example of how to do it, a century after Lawrence.
clever. like those anti-runway bombs that go through the surface and blow up under the runway, thus upsetting a huge patch of runway surface and forcing the enemy to first rip out the uneven surface before they can pour in mew material to level it off. Way more labor intensive and time consuming.
When looking at the fallen road surface there is a question to be asked. If the explosion was caused by the lorry on the road, then the road surface would be heavily scorched. Even the white road markings are still visible. The explosion must have come from below the bridge. It was probably remotely detonated, when the train passed.
The effort that has gone into this has gotta be the best birthday present Putin could have wished for
Drrr daaa baaa blah blah.

Wow. Amazing work Ukraine. Y'all got this.
USSR made bridge still standing after 100 himars and this modern bridge is a flop just after one truck
@norman smithers yes very
I don't see anything that specifically suggests this wasn't a massive truck-bomb. The post-event footage doesn't show signs of any penetrating or cratering explosion (such as from a missile). It seems infeasible that an SF unit could get that quantity of explosives rigged on the bridge without detection - smaller shaped/cutting charges would have been used; a different type of blast: plus they'd have been able to target the rail bridge as a priority (or both bridges) if it were an SF team laying charges en-situ.
I concur
There was a boat under the bridge when it exploded.
Thermite
100% the CCTV footage looks like it , and the Russians are saying it was .
My hypothesis is a rich Russians oligarch did it since both the Truck and the Boat can from Russia. There's also security check and a Russian warships near the bridge with active sonar and radar.
Someone inside Russia is pulling the strings. Putin has killed 14 oligarchs this year. Most of them are from Gasprom.
It's weird: the generals from my country go to social media saying they are absolutelly sure a missile didn't took the bridge down and that it was one of the trucks that had some explosive material, like the ammonium nitrate that was responsible for the Beirute explosion, and exploded intentionally right next to the train.
On a non related note, now that the Crimea bridge is down, Portugal now has the longest bridge in europe and we portuguese have nothing to do about it, it was definetly the ukrainians, so... yea... take that, Russia...
Feel bad for the people going over the bridge
The officer in charge of bridge security has ‘accidentally’ fallen out of a fifth floor window.

The rumour is Ukraine has already received ATACMS ordinance from the US for their M142 and M270. If true, this would be a huge help given the extended firing range to 300km or 186 miles from previously just 92km/57.2 miles for the GLMRS. So, this could have been a M48 or M57 with a 500 lbs warhead.
I still have my doubts but I really hope so. ATACMS will be such a game changer
Ukrainians were working on "hrim-2" long range missile system, but noone knows if they managed to finish work and create rockets before war started 🤔 (warehead 1100 lb)
That bridge is heavily defended against rocket attacks. A rocket attack on it would've triggered lots of anti fire which nobody is reporting on. The sky would've been lit up to try to shoot down any incoming rocket. There is not a single vid showing anti fire (which was the case on previous smaller rocket attacks on other bridges). I'm not buying this being a rocket attack AT ALL.
@@flybeep1661 anti air systems, and anti air systems that work, are two totally different systems. That's how moskva was drowned
From the videos circulating on twitter, I doubt it was a missile. The explosion was too big even for an R-360 Neptune. It also definitely wasn't a truck bomb as the Russians are claiming, because there pretty clearly weren't any trucks near the origin point of the explosion. I suspect that this was either an explosive-laden naval drone or a remotely detonated explosive placed by special forces.
Always love Michael Clark's explanations

@@liongod1000 they have opened the bridge for car- and bus traffic already.
That was some blast. R.I.P innocent victims of war
I agree that this was not a truck bomb. First, the truck driver survived the explosion, which would have been impossible if his truck would have contained the explosives. Second, in one of the videos of the moments before the explosion taken from a car, one can clearly hear a woosh-sound, which suggests some kind of missile. However, I did not see any missile on the footage, so I suspect it may have been a torpedo or some missile launched from below the bridge.
I can't help but feel sympathy for whoever was in the car headed towards the camera. For a moment it seemed they would make it but then the vehicle exploded in flames.

such a massive missile, such a big hit, that a few hours later both rail and road bridge are open again.

The extreme heat from fire on rail bridge will require removing the damaged sections and rebuilt.
That sure does look like the truck exploded to me. I saw security footage of that truck before the explosion being "inspected" and the inspector basically opened the door and took a quick look then gave it the ok without actually going inside. That truck came from the russian side so i suspect they dont get x-ray'd coming from that direction. I could be completely wrong

Just look at the way the smoke goes, and the way the particles fly. No way was it the truck. The truck was just in the wrong place at the wrong time...

He's the only one that is saying that it was a missile or a bomb under the bridge. No one else anywhere is saying that. They are all saying it was a truck bomb. For it to have been timed perfectly to hit when the train was passing next to it, there is NO WAY for it to be a missile. He forgot about that. It was clearly a remotely detonated bomb. That means either on the truck or under the bridge. Given how massive the blast was, I don't believe him when he says it was under the bridge. The blast was too large on top.

Also this will scare the Russian soldiers as their way out has been destroyed.
More arms transfers to Ukraine. No way to remove equipment
There seems to still be one half of the roadway passable. At least, that’s what the daylight pictures seem to show.
That is the train side. However, fuel tankers caught fire and burned the tracks. Not sure how much of it melted our not, but it still appears to be damaged.
The train side is the side still standing*
I believe Ukrainian army start to planing take Crimea
If the fire on the rail bridge is not put out quickly, it will permanently damage the structual steel that holds up the bridge, or the reinforcing in the concrete, either way, it will not be repaired in just two weeks,.
Considering the road bridge is also damaged they can’t exactly bring heavy fire fighting trucks close to the train as its near the hole so structural integer there is damaged. Therefore very likely for the fire to continued until the fuel burns out, and the rail bridges structural integrity heavily affected.
Well they are saying it's going to be operational for rail traffic TONIGHT. Lets see if that is true. It might have weakened the bridge but maybe not enough for it to become unusable. It might just result in reduced speed limits over that section.
No mention of the civilians killed in the process? Strange for British TV to not consider that.

Give us a 60 minute Q & A with Michael Clarke!
It will take more than 2 weeks to repair this bridge!!! The train bridge "seems" not that damaged, but don't underestimate all the cracking in the concrete because sitting in a huge fire for some hours. My guess, the repair will take more than 2 months.
I agree. I think that the constant threat of further attacks will inhibit progress on this.
Yeah and also think about consequences of temperature gap... concrete can't easily tolerate this huge gap in a few time and soon an harsh "winter is coming" with snow and ice on a weaker structure...
Meanwhile Russians have opened one part of undamaged auto lane.
And even then, as soon as the repairs are finished, KABOOM! again!
That was one hell of explosion!
It wasn't an explosion it was a special militsry operation caused by Russia themselves.
It was. Supra-military level. I'd estimate a 750lb-1000lb charge.
GIVE MICHAEL CLARKE A SHOW!!!!
The rail bridge section might as well be in the Sea because it will have to be replaced. The rebar has all melted/snapped... It will take longer than the "expert" thinks...

Anything that's bad for Putin is a good thing. But it doesn't feel good watching news anchors talking about this in such a positive mood in front of footage of people actually dying. Yeah, Iv'e seen vids on Truck bombs and that truck is big and that would definitely do the job....Size of a missile head is small compared to a lorry full of explosives, fertilizer even...
Look at the direction the missle would have come from to hit that side of the bridge. The bridge doesn't run straight east to west and is almost north to south where it was hit.
Watching the video footage in slow motion it's still hard to say what caused the blast . There is a big truck about at the blast area but that could be coincidental . I can't see a crater on the road surface of the span that is down and one would think a truck bomb would leave a large crater in the road surface . This bridge no longer has strategic value since Crimea is linked to Russia by land. In addition it is not destroyed, a traffic lane for vehicles as well as the railway track are operational. What will be the revenge?
