    Not sure if you know this, but this video is THE best explanation I’ve seen on RUclips. I’m new to this and I’ve seen close to a hundred videos. I think others forget that their audience are likely beginners, thus skipping important explanations. Not you! From the math to your step by step instructions, I believe I’m ready to make these doors. Wish me luck and thank you very much!

    Love this book! ruclips.net/user/postUgkxpCNxqmAkyjN6NPx1fyB7QiEFWyO5mUWL it is simply one-of-a-kind! I really love it, because karah explained all tools required to have the job done, not mentioning the fabulous diy pallets ideas. I'm pretty sure this will be a fresh start in my new endeavour. Amazon was great, they delivered on time. Thank you!

    I’m a DIY homeowner who has decided it would be a good idea to build my own cabinet doors. Thank you for this straight to the point video that is helping me though the process. I have a lot of new respect for carpenters and woodworkers during my kitchen remodel, this is not easy stuff! I machine and cut steel to within a thousandth of an inch for a living no problem but trying to be accurate with wood is a whole different ballgame. Great video!

    Thanks to your tutorial I have pulled it off in last few hours. So much appreciation for your video sir. I am a total noob who has not cut a single wood in the past and gluing part got me. It dried just way too fast for me to handle and after putting it together I see the tenon of one of the rail is 1/32 out. But overall pretty happy for the first attempt.

    Great Video! You just saved me over a GRAND making these doors!!! BUT, you should have mentioned that the saw blade you were using is a Flat Tooth Grind Blade (FTG) that makes the bottom of the groove SQUARE and joint perfect. Not a cheap blade but a good investment. If you use a multi purpose blade, the joint will not close properly as the bottom of the groove will not be flat. Thanks for making this video - Great thought process here!

    Simple until you pull your hair out after various warping after glue-up. They always look good fresh off the router if you have a good bits and centre them properly. I just made the fifth set of kiln dried maple doors after four different common problems arose. Other times I can make a ton of poplar, birch, maple, pine, even fir and cedar doors without issue. The wood does what the wood does. Tip for the newbies, don't overclamp! Just right enough to pull in the seams!

    • @bentswoodworking
      @bentswoodworking  6 лет назад +1

      Famous Forever I agree, and yes definitely do not over tighten the clamps. Thank you for you input!

      @@bentswoodworking I go back and forth between the router and table saw. Your styles come out clean, which also seems like a given, but people need to know that you are using good quality blades. Skimp on those, especially on the router and your style will be ripped to shreds! Don't skimp on those yellow t&g sets you see on Amazon and keep your blades sharp. Brent makes this look so easy to make clean and perfect fitting parts because he knows what he's doing and more importantly what not to do. Ask questions. Practice on cheap wood. Buy the right gear. Don't plan on buying some cheap saw, expensive wood and being able to redo your kitchen in an hour with pro results. It takes time and experience with good shop gear to get good and knowledge of wood to get great.

    Very nice! If you were going to stain the styles and rails would you do it before putting it together?

    • @bentswoodworking
      @bentswoodworking  3 года назад +1

      I would assume that you’re also going to stay in the panel in the middle and if that’s the case I would stain it after it was assembled

    • @montet202
      @montet202 3 года назад

      You would not stain the rails and stiles first. If you are using MDF, birch ply, or veneered ply for the panel, you could, but don't need to. If you are using hardwood panels, you should stain and/or put one coat of oil, or finish on them. Just the panels. When the panels move through the seasons you will not see line of unfinished material at the edges of the panel. You will always size the doors, and finish sand them after glue up, so pre finishing them would be wasteful.

    Good video. The Master craftsman who I trained with, taught us to make rails & stile wider by about a 1/4 inch, then trim the finished door on the table saw.
    This was the best way to square a door after gluing, even if everything went according to plan in the making of a door.

    • @bentswoodworking
      @bentswoodworking  6 лет назад +2

      Danish Qamar more often then not, no they are not actually 1/4". Freud actually sells a plywood bit set that are all just under the different sizes. They work very well. Even if you don't have those bits, just cut some test pieces till you get the size just right!

    • @peterfitzpatrick7032
      @peterfitzpatrick7032 6 лет назад +3

      If you set your tablesaw blade initially close to rail centre, by moving the fence slightly & taking test cuts, u can match ANY variation in MDF thickness... as you are removing material from both sides of the slot (as u rotate the workpiece) a fence move of 1/32" will widen the slot by 1/16" so make VERY small adjustments when getting close to the correct size... 👍😎

    Wow, damn. I really love listening to folks ramble and spout wisdom for casual listening and just conversing with them, but you are clear, concise and to the point, and nothing went amiss with your instructions. VERY well done, and I am shocked this is your first time making a video like this, as you do better than most folks who are constantly making videos. I'll be giving making these a shot tonight for my garage. Bravo, and post more awesome videos!

      Edward Howe thank you so much. I have made some other videos similar to this since this video. Feel free to take a look at my other videos. Thanks again, I really appreciate it!

    Great video! I've watched many videos on how to make these doors, and none of them talk about the measurements. Thank you!
