After watching MANY vids that didn't help me I finally found yours. Thank you for ALL the info and great video work, much appreciated! I'm going to attempt this project on my 2011 JSW now. I also have that oil issue on top of my valve cover..need to do some research on cause/fix. Cheers
Glad it helped! I had someone comment that it might be injector seals. I have not had time to change them and see
Great little video, thanks for sharing! Can you also share the fault code you had? I've currently got intermittent P0121 (throttle) and P2425 relating to the EGR. Cheers!
I’m debating if I want to try this on mine or just let a shop deal with it. I actually just need to get to the asv/ throttle body I have a P0638 engine code. That big rubber hose is giving me pause though. A bit concerned I won’t be able to get it off or back on….
I had that code as well before I cleaned it I believe. It’s really not too bad of a process
Is the “ check engine “ gone after cleaning the EGR?
I have the same old oil deposits pooling around injectors. Have you found the fix? The injectors have been resealed so the issue lies somewhere else. I was thinking its either a faulty valve cover gasket (oil seems to copy the gasket perimeter as well) or a bad oil filler neck gasket.
My injectors were leaking also and resealed.. wondering to replace egr or try to clean. Runs good and I want to sell it
@EricK-ik6rb if you’re wanting to sell it I’d just clean it pretty well
You may find that the injector seals need replacing
What makes you think that?
You will get a misfire code from the injectors if it is leaking from injectors research upper engine seals
How many miles? I'll be taking my anti-shudder valve out this weekend to do the thermostat so I might as well add this job.
Hi, great video! Did cleaning it sort the problem ?
Yes it did
5:00 copper pads under the injectors?did you manage to solve the problem?
Great vid. Thank you.
How long did this take you?
Conveniently left out the lower bolt part on the egr cooler. Son of witch!😂
Hello, I also have a engine light on the dashboard and I think it's the EGR too, after cleaning it, did the engine light disappear or did you have to erase it with an OBD2 PC ?
Yes please lmk too I have exactly the same but if I can clean and not have to buy a new one would be great
Thanks alot, mate
Did you have to do any calibrations on VCDS or OBDEleven after you re-installed everything?
If you disconnect the battery, you usually have nothing to do. Think of it as a surgery, if the car is asleep and wakes up just like before, why would it need programmimg?
No start video at the end? 😢
We’re you able to get the ASV, that’s the anti shudder valve .. ie tdi throttle body off with only loosening the screw clamp on the intake hose? I recently tried to take off the ASV/EGR on my tdi but I couldn’t get the hose off the ASV.. probably need to remove it from the turbo as a whole to get enough movement.. that’s a bad design by VW to not have any movement in that intake hose.. otherwise good video, did the EGR fault clear?
Yes I just loosed the hose clamp and put a screw driver in between the hose and throttle body/ASV and worked it off. It wasn’t too bad doing it that way. Yes it cleared the fault. I did end up just deleting the egr and dpf a few months later.
@@YoungWRX Getting prepared for doing 2 of these. I won't delete EGR... pretty much bullshit all claims. My problem is how far to go, but I will decide when I see EGR. Do I 1) clean like you? 2) Replace EGR;s as not much cost and I get gaskets. 3) Replace throttle body (EGR and ASV). 4) Clean or replace intake cooling pipe as well? 5) Remove intake manifold and clean that and head inlets.
@gesheepistemology8050 from what I understand you don’t really need to clean the manifold/valves but I just cleaned the egr and it lasted awhile but it did come back up that’s when I decided just to delete it along with the dpf.
@@YoungWRX where is the DPF and how do you delete that?
@@YoungWRX mine are 240km and 160km, no problems or errors codes, just preventative clean/replace.
👍.
Did you ever get the delete kit? How did that go?
Yes I did I’ve been meaning to make a video on it but haven’t had time. It was pretty easy to do over all I’d say and I get a little bit better fuel mileage and obviously sounds a lot better
Which tune did you go with?
Also, which delete kit did you get?
I went with Malone stage 2 which is thru tunezilla now also got the dsg tune. I went with raw tech for the exhaust/down pipe I’ve heard people say they are too expensive but the quality is worth it in my opinion!
Just got the rawtech kit. I am really happy with it. Install was totally reasonable.
Is thats 2litre or 1.6 ?
It’s a 2.0

I have oil sipping and collecting into my glow plugs and making it run rich. I was wondering if I can remove the intake manifold and replace the gasket without having to used VCDS? I got a code P0638 and I have already remove the EGR twice and clean it and got that code soon after that work. I haven’t change the valve cover gasket as my girlfriend’s car has 160K miles. I also would like to replace the injector seals since that will have to be removed to replace the valve cover gasket but since I don’t have the VCDS I’m scare I’ll screw my injectors pressure!!!
Just delete it 🎉
