I am a beginner and couldn’t find a detailed tutorial to make my dog a sweater and this was the most useful video I could find. Thank you so much for explaining so well! 🙌🏼
Hello, I am new to knitting and I want to make this…basically because my dogs are naked!!! But doing knit, purl will take me forever. Can I just knit one row and purl another or just knit the whole sweater?? Will that affect the stretch of the sweater??? Thank you!
Hey there! I go more in detail in this video: ruclips.net/video/QrxpXmOiIHw/видео.html . It's part of my tik tok cardigan series, but I did squares to show casting on, garter stitch, and stockinette stitch, Hope this helps!
I need to make a dog sweater with the following measurements: 11" from neck to back on the top and 9.r underneath. Neck is 9" and around body is 13.5. Would that fit?
You'd probably want to knit a Guage swatch with the yarn you are using to figure it out. This one was made for a very small dog, so it would probably be too small.
Hey! Unfortunately I gifted it so I don't have it anymore! I recommend measuring a dog sweater in the size you need or based on the dog it's intended for! I think the top piece was about 5 inches by 8 inches and rhe bottom was smaller.
I'd recommend doing a gauge swatch with the recommended needle size for your yarn and then measuring an existing dog sweater. I measured from the top of one armhole to the other to get the width of the top piece and then did the same for the bottom piece.
I actually have no idea what it's called! I learned how to knit when I was pretty young and this is just the one I was taught! I will be doing a video in April that teaches the basic knit stitch and I will show (and slow down) my cast on method there!
@@tmt139 Clearly I was having one of those days where my brain wasn't processing things! You're right - that looks more like a size 8 needle, not an 8mm. Honestly, using whatever needle size the yarn recommends is probably your best bet!
If you are new to knitting or crochet and need directions for how to start stitches, start with a stitch tutorial first! I did a few as a part of my tiktok cardigan series, but other creators have tons!

You are so welcome!! ❤️🐕
Dachshunds come in a size variety as well as the 3 coat varieties. Smooth. Longhair. Wire haired.
Good to know!
@@StitchesandScribbles so the one you mentioned probably was a Wire haired. My fave of the 3. Mini Wirehaired dachshund.
Thankyou 😅

That should totally work! I'd recommend doing all knit rows if you don't want it to curl!
Very nice thankyou.😘
You are so welcome!
How do you cast on Luke that?! Looks so clever
Thanks! I didn't realize it was unique until I started getting messages like this 😂 it's just the way I learned!
Is there a video where you go slower explaining the cast on and what the pearl stitch is

What happened to the front panel
It's shorter because that's how dog sweaters generally fit!
could you please provide us with the measurements for this sweater?

How do you calculate the stitches?

@@StitchesandScribbles thank you!🌸🌻🙂
What type of cast on did you do? It looks very easy and I want to try it :)

I can't wait!!! I'll keep my eye out for it 😉
@@StitchesandScribbles I really would love to know how to cast on your way. The way I do it is so slow!
@@pinkpetunia1 I have the video scheduled for this coming Friday, April 9th! 😁
@@StitchesandScribbles fantastic! I’ll watch out for it. 😊
What size knitting needles
8mm!
The knitting needles look smaller than an 11 US size. Are you sure it is an 8m needle?
@@StitchesandScribbles ??

@@StitchesandScribbles thanks so much
I tried to follow but there’s zero instructions. :(
I'm sorry to hear that! I tried to make the directions so that it was size adjustable. all you need is two rectangles in the stitch of your choice!

Thank you, it was late! I was probably just tired and couldn’t figure it out lol. I appreciate you.
