Hey, big fan here! Are you going to make a video about WOT s2 finale? I am looking forward to it and have been scavenging your page every day looking for it. All love here, man. I appreciate you!
@@lokodout7514in the last episode he reviewed he said he’s going to do a watch party thingy, but he said that it was going to happen about a week after the last episode was released.
I truly believe this is how publishers read the manuscripts of new writers 😂😭
By physically and brutally tearing it apart while laughing hysterically
Someone is not goood at drinking 😅.
At least we can tell which kind of drunkard we have at hands, book tearing 😂.
This comment made this entire video 80% better.....No offense Daniel..
8:15 Look, I'm not saying Daniel needs to run for public office...I'm just saying "Give women swords" is a great campaign slogan that I would 100% get behind
Tbf.. some swords ARE much larger than those ones. Buut-Yeahh- Still. I do agree!
Aye
As a woman with a sword, yeah they aren't that heavy.
thousands, nay, millions of young queer women would register to vote so fast
😂😂
Daniel: *Rips a person’s arm off* Whaaat? There’s been, like, 8 billion of them printed!
I WOULDNT BE WRONG!
16B arms.
Well actually 🤓🤓
Anytime a fictional character says that a sword is too heavy I like to assume it’s massive like the Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII
and then there is me with my weak baby wrists who struggles to hold anything heavier than a rapier. XD
@@luulusoul Considering rapiers are actually on the heavier side for swords you're doing pretty well.
@@brandf.7691 maybe I had a very light rapier in fencing class?? I remember it being fairly light.
Yaas!😂
@@luulusoul you shouldn't have had a rapier at all in fencing class, a foil, sabre, or epee would be what you use, and the heaviest of those is like half the weight of a rapier.
As someone who also has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, I think I should get access to dragon magic
I second this!
What about Cerebral Palsy? What do I get?

I literally bought this book a week ago wtf. And a dylan DIES? In the first chapter??
Hello, Lord of Trouble!! We adore you here in the Goblin Clan!
dylan! what r u doing here?? worlds are colliding!!
🥹 It’s a good day to be a goblin troublemaker book nerd
I swear if you, @dylanisintrouble, does something with books (especially Fourth Wing or ACOTAR (gods help us)) the troublemakers and boogies will combust.
@@noname3070maybe he can tackle the fourth wing amazon series if it actually comes to fruition 😂
I'm just imagining Daniel doing this for like Green Eggs and Ham and getting to the end and being like "WAIT HE LIKES THEM NOW! I did not see that coming"
We absolutely need this. Reading popular childrens books; except he's already smashed when he starts reading.
Dude! Spoilers! 😂
Watching the book get ripped apart made me want to cry, but the way you did it made me want to cry from laughter 😂
Dude, I read this comment 30 seconds before it happened, and I was like “huh, he must really go in on the book later” and then THAT happened 🤯😂
Yeah, I've heard a lot of the same thing from sexist men.
@@amythompson6431There's plenty of books written by women that are well written and well characterized let's not say "sexist men" when it's valid to make fun of these pulpy-ya-smut books. ACOTAR, Fourth wing, Priory of an Orange tree are not it. Some really good reads though, Broken Earth, Death Gate cycle, even Scholomance deadly education has better prose even if it still is pretty YA. Farseer Trilogy and others.
@@iGotThisarchive Sigh...again...it's a matter of opinion and many men sound sexist when they criticize the book, and when they do, I'm going to call them out, so get over it sweetie.
@@amythompson6431 nah the truth is: their criticisms are valid and you have no real counterarguments, so you just resort to "ThEY'Re SeIXisT". After all, it's a matter of opinion. If a book is garbage then it's garbage
Get over it, sweetie
I have never read Fourth Wing, but as someone who has carried a fully-loaded rucksack multiple places, I can tell you that they can definitely make you topple over. I'm 170 lbs, and I have been manhandled by my rucksack multiple times😂
What is the average weight of your rucksack? I'm thinking about starting rucking
@promiseijeomah488 for recreational rucking, the rucksack should be about 20% of your body weight. So if I'm doing a hike, i go anywhere between 35 and 40lbs.
@@totough1Thanks for the info

I’m gonna need more tipsy reviews. Idec what the book is. This has been so much fun! Also bonus points if Kayla participates in the tipsy tomfoolery 😂😂
Is idec the new idk? Well, with "care" instead of "know".
@@lalaithan I don’t even care, so yea basically 😂😂
I really couldn't finish fourth wing.
The protagonist is probably the Mary Sue to end all Mary Sue characters and about 90% of the books plot is blatantly copied from other books.
I mean brown and silver haired protagonist with lightning powers (Red Queen) who is disabled and struggles to ride a dragon (Dragon School) in the dragon school that has four sections and her love interest is the leader who initially dislikes her and ends up helping her (Divergent), who also has shadow powers (ACOTAR and like ten other books). She also lives in a country with seven provinces, that has built a WARD (wall) around its borders to stop an enemy that we later learn about. This enemy is ruled by a Sage (night king) who creates these venin, monsters that are destroyed only by a special material (valerian steel) which the cadets are forging into blades! (Game of Thrones).
And that's just a few books on top of my head T_T
So all in all it has a complete Mary Sue protagonist and not a single original plot line.
I did like the writing style and the dragons but that's about it...
"give women swords"
YES! All power to the swords!
In Fire Emblem, some of them even get axes.
In that case, u should definitely read Throne of Glass
Why is very single "bad" review I watched of this book so much more entertaining than the book itself? 😂
the ripping book part HAD me!!! HAHAHA I'm loving this series. You should do the Cruel Prince next!
But the cruel prince is a legitimately good book! 😢
Yeah, I love it, but I feel it’s not the kind of book Daniel would read, so it would be super fun to see him doing it in this format ❤
So here for it!!!
@@Thenoobestgirl not really lol
@@EliteNormieHave you actually read all of it?
Just to clarify, the French Revolution was the 1790s. And 1820s. 1840s. And 1870s. Most decades really, though not the 1930s.
As a 24 year old dude and huge fantasy nerd I read this book because all the girls at work where reading it and hey dragons are awesome. The world building was kinda mid but lord it's a paige turner. I bought the sequel after only reading a few chapters.
I had the exact opposite reaction.
If I wasn't reading it with a friend, I would have dropped it after a couple chapters.
I just had fun complaining about how bad it is to my friend who loves it. Finding the fun where I can with this one.
The dragons are cool though. Nothing revolutionary, but dragons are dragons.
If you like this book as a male, you like your booty tickled.
It's criminal how much I'm enjoying this Tipsy series thing.
Just holding a singular page that you had ripped out is so chaotic and I love it
Did you even think about how Treebeard would feel?
RIP Daniel's copy of Fourth Wing. You weren't good, but you did exist
I was imaging the other rider had the power to grow and shrink things, but prefer Daniel's idea. Also amazed how much he got right after all the wine he got.
@7:39 Back scabbards imho are storage devices rather than quick draw options. If I were transporting a sword, going on a hike, etc. I'd be fine with a back scabbard, like I'd be fine with having a water bottle in my backpack, or my camera if I was just taking landscape pictures that I didn't need quick reactions for. Once I'm in battle or expecting to be attacked I would carry my sword in my hands or at a hip scabbard (or my camera around my neck for chance bird shots).
This was so stupidly fun. This is exactly how I've wanted to consume Fourth Wing!!
Daniel somehow got the full Fourth Wing experience through only like six chapters xDD
I am CRYING laughing at you ripping the book up. Also yes give women swords!!
I came here to write that exact comment 😂
i love that you still managed to get hit with the plot twist at the end with Brennan returning hahaha. Fourth Wing may have some predictable plot beats, but that last page was just like "SURPRISE BITCH" 😂
I was surprised by how surprised he was was, considering he almost predicted it, just replace Brennan with Dylan (or whatever his name was) and he 100% predicted everything just guessed the wrong person would secretly be still alive.
I told my husband he has to give me a sword, now, because you said so.
good!
this was actually SO enjoyable! Hopefully we get more of these in the future
Daniel tearing up the book killed me. I loved it. 🤣
It’s pretty scary how accurate this turned out to be
RIP the tree that helped make Fourth Wing 😅
I hope whatever tree-afterlife there is is merciful. None of these trees asked for this.
Okay this was fire, especially as a person who sat through this book and found it weirdly addictive ??!!
Yes! I had low expectations and the characters and plot might not be my favorites, but it was such a struggle to put down! Really addictive...
I literally came here after reading it ashamed of how addicting I found it! There were so many cringe moments. But why did I want more? Why did I order the next one?
@@zelbelreader it was exactly like that! And during the second book, Iron Flame, I was so stressed over how it was going to, but the book wasn't that good? It's really weird x)

I love this channel
was not expecting a dylan is in trouble referance

your few chapters reading experience matches perfectly to my whole book reading experience! like did you sparknotes this man? hilarious!
Okay, pitch. A book but its all maps that show how the borders change during a war between two kingdoms with important battles listed.
I love that just with the minimal scenes you read the ending still hits
As someone with EDS- I loved the representation of my illnesses! It explains it in a good way for laymen
Not understanding the magic system is my favorite part of this video 😂 Also the completely UNHINGED predictions ☠️
The people are going to need you to do this again with the second book in this series!!!
English is not my Mother tongue ( you may pick up on it thanks to the grammar errors) and I have to say that the way you read the book is incredibly clear, even with the change of tones. I was able to understand and enjoy the reading surprisingly well without too much effort. I really enjoyed this video it was hilarious. Continue like this, you are doing a really good job.
The weight of a sword, from what I've read, comes from what it's made of and the type of sword it is. Some swords, like you said, are lighter than they appear. Some, because of types of steel or the type of blade, can be quite weighty.
Also, if you are talking forging in a middle ages-esque fantasy world, they might not be able to get the forges hot enough to burn enough of the dross away and thus have to make them heavier in order to make them sturdy enough to take regular use.
Backscabbers however, preach it. Admittedly, they're kinda cool to look at, but for actual use, dumb as hell.
Most swords are around 1.5 to 3 pounds. A small side sword can be extremely light and easy to wield, even less than 1 pound that even a small child could wield. The biggest, heaviest, most extreme swords for actual combat (not decorative or ceremonial) get up to maybe 8 pounds. Yeah, a small, weak person would be unable to wield something like that effectively but they could still lift it.
From someone who likes to practice kali espada y daga (sword & dagger), I like this answer. Our bladed weapons are dull and aluminum or steel but I can see how "IRL" you would need something much sturdier and therefore heavier.
I know nothing of swords. But I would assume a backstabbers would be for travel. Badly but maybe.
I think balance also helps, so if the hilt is heavy enough it can counterbalance the blade itself and make it easier to handle
Extremely unlikely that medievals wouldn't be able to get the heat--they could make charcoal, and they knew how airflow works, given how necessary it is for ceramics. Shit, the first blast furnace was of medieval make.
Granted, into high medieval there, but that's most fantasy. We love plate too much lol
Have a nice day Daniel!
Why speed up the sword rant! I wanted to listen to it
“She’s Samuel Jackson from the movie unbreakable” hearing this while packing has been incredible 😭😂
I have this sickness. Yeah, AND it gets worse as you get older and you kinda gotta lock your limbs in place to do physical activity. However: we tend to be great swimmers

The wine. The book ripping. The reading to boblin. All lead to my subscription 🙌🏾
Well this clearly needs to be the audiobook! 😂😂 Hitting some of the plot points…1.5 mainly cause you gotta let go of Dylan being alive. Hahaha!
You're reactions were spot on to how I reacted to it while reading 😂 ESPECIALLY the ending...
fourth wing was literally just divergent with dragons. Sincerely one of the most overhyped books ever. I listened to the audiobook and I have never had my hate of tik tok more confirmed in my life.

If you want a book about Dragon Riders that are actually great, check out the Eragon series or the Temeraire series.
This was the best video of this book haha 😂!!! My girlfriend got me to read this book. I really enjoy it, and loved this video.
I want my tattoos to start glowing now, thanks Daniel!
I know you could get that in Spain almost 20 years ago. The tattoos glowed under blacklights 🙃👍
@@BeachLife321 Really? Never heard of those I need one
Loving the Dylanisintrouble references, hoping for a crossover some day 💕💕💕
Ok… as much as I LOVE give women swords… a BIG point in this book is that Violet has a disability that makes her have to train incredibly hard. That’s why it’s there. And yes there are def problems in this book… but the disability representation in this book isn’t a bad part of the book and IMO is handled pretty well. You couldn’t have known that… but just wanted to bring it up. Keep making great content
The fact that she cures her *body wide* disability by doing some leg work makes me feel like it's mishandled honestly. Even later on it still affects her for the smallest things like getting kicked in the leg but getting caught mid-air by a dragon is all okie-dokie
Genuinely have not laughed so hard watching a RUclips Video!! 🤣🤣🤣 "Rippled Like a Lay's Chip" and the way you say Basgiath will live rent free in my life FOREVER!!!!
I love this series, please continue being your weird goblin self, always.
I'm not personally interested in this book (I just liked the tipsy guessing concept) but I've heard a bunch of people complain it's hard to find and I definitely flinched when I saw it torn.
There's like 10 copies at my walmart lol
It's a very popular book, copies abound. The only way it's hard to find is at a library because it's constantly checked out.
It was hard to find up until a month or 2 ago, it was sold out while the publisher worked on getting more printings out. They’ve now restocked and it’s everywhere again, without the coveted stenciled edges unique to the first printing (those are reselling for $200+)
Torn like those pages were lmao
Oh my, I think this is the funniest thing I've seen in forever. This was the best
daniel reapping a book on camera? yeah that’s a villain moment right there.
“IM GONNA BE LATE TO DND, THERE’S SEHCKS” XDDDDD
You are so adorable, I want one!
I have no current plans to read this book, but I am in the middle of the ACOTAR series, and I've enjoyed it so far.
Been watching your vids for a while now. This made me laugh a lot after a hellish night of work. Great stuff dude.
Daniel's wine mom alterego is back!
A friend of mine recomended me Fourth Wing. So I got the audiobook. I still don't know why she thought I'd like it.... besides the dragons that is.
Love these!
Love these videos!
you have to read this whole thing fr- you were pretty spot on
BORK TWO. This was the best.
There was one thing in particular that really took me out of Gideon the Ninth. When Harrow tries to pick up Gideon's sword, and it's too heavy for her to lift!
All the way I'd pictured a regular longsword, and suddenly I had to retrofit in a whole slew of justifications before I could go on: Gideon is actually carrying a massive Final Fantasy style greatsword, Harrow is exhausted/distraught/very tiny, something something (the author has no idea about swords) whatever. Okay.
Feel what you wanna feel, but in gideon's defense it's mentioned multiple times that her prefered weapon is a heavy two hander.
And further it's hammered home time after time that necromancers are inherently weak. Death magic doesn't keep strong humans. Harrow is tiny even for a necromancer. So this is a 5'6 maybe 5'7 individual with a particularly weak physique. And the main issue with a greatsword isn't the weight but the form factor of the weight. They can be awkward.
@@ninnusridhar The author may know her swords and have had a clear and distinct idea of what kind of sword Gideon used, but as used today "longsword" most commonly refers to a sword that while usually wielded with two hands isn't all that big or heavy.
So it's not unreasonable for me to get a different impression and a bit of mental whiplash.
Its fitting if harrow is physicaly weak and gideon buff and to get that cross, nd that gideon ikes big swords.
@@ninnusridhar She should still be able to lift it. It may be too big and heavy for her to wield effectively but she should be able to lift it. The biggest, heaviest sword ever made for actual combat can be lifted by a 4 year old. Or are you saying she's too weak to lift 6-7 pounds?
I just assumed it was part of the series convention that necromancers as a whole are super weak due to all the thanergy they're working with (there's a bit where the 2nd House necro mentions that she could run a kilometer in 10 minutes, and that this was the best score in her military training group lol, vs her cavalier who could run it in 5 minutes; necromantic toddlers are described as lacking typical baby fat, and most of the necromancers are described as frail/bony/etc within the narrative and also in-in-universe romance novels and things. and cavaliers specifically train with rapiers so that lyctors can wield more easily). That said, I went into the series not knowing very much about swords at all, so it's cool to realize there are all sorts of nuances between types of different swords that I had no idea existed! Ty for the fun fact :)
I would listen to you reading the whole thing drunk hahaha this was excellent hahahahaha ❤
I've been looking for this episode!!

Same. But at the same time a was FF so I dont hear everything!
New fav series! KEEP EM COMING
First time ive read a book where a xharacter waters at the mouth looling at another character
So generally yes, swords are not too heavy for women to handle. But Vi has a clearly established reason for why a sword would be too heavy for her specifically. Chronic illnesses that affect your joints are ABSOLUTELY going to change the rules there, and I don't think assuming the author is perpetuating a stereotype when it's clearly established and logical that a single, specific character wouldn't be able to handle a sword is effective critique. I have RA and I couldn't handle even a super light sword either, and I kind of love that Vi is representing chronic illness and disability in this book and what kinds of workarounds and accommodations would make surviving in this kind of story viable.
Yes, he just hadn't gotten to the bit where she says she's sick when he went on that rant
I recognize that context clues probably get lost in a tipsy read, but the book hints from page 3 ("too frail" generally doesn't just suggest physical smallness or weakness, frailty when not used in the context of an older person tends to denote illness or an underlying factor. Additionally, Mama Sorrengail explicitly says "it's like that fever stole all your coloring along with your strength" which suggests that Vi's health was at least damanged if she doesn't have something ongoing) that Vi has reasons other than being a woman for swords being too heavy. The hints start on page three and it's not till page 6 that Mira asks Vi if she can handle a sword and Vi responds that it's too heavy. So technically the reader is given the explanation prior to Vi saying swords are too heavy. I would drop images of the pages with the quotes highlighted here too, but I'm not actually sure if RUclips allows that, so I apologize for not more clearly citing my quotes. @@wolfishpotato6978
@@gracemccarthy9739 if we take every mention of a female MC being weak or frail as an indication of a genetic connective tissue disorder, then we’ll have to assume that to be true for at least half of them in this genre. That just isn’t true. It’s also a bad precedent to set. There’s a reason hints don’t work for this topic and a reason the author makes her disorder explicitly known if not named.
@@pithygrapefruit The mention of the fever ruining Violet's health on page 3 is pretty explicit. I also was not speaking of the genre broadly. Violet's EDS is quite unusual for an MC in this genre, so my comments are specific to Fourth Wing. You absolutely cannot generalize about chronically ill protagonists because they are the minority
I love watching you Daniel, but the way you destoryed that poor book hurts me on a phyiscal level. 10/10 would recomend the first/last readings. So much fun.
Here's an idea.
Have you ever thought about making periodic videos reading chapters of a book you like?
Like yours or Brandon's, for example.
I'm Brazilian and I really like fantasy books, I follow your channel and Brandon's and lately I've been trying to read the books directly in English because it usually takes a long time for a publisher to get the books translated into Portuguese.
I find the voices and comments you make very hilarious and at the same time I learn how to pronounce some words I don't know well in English :). I think it would be fun!
That’s awesome! How long does it take for Sanderson books to be translated to portuguese? I’ve just been wondering because I kind of want to try and read it in portuguese because that could help me since I am very bad a writing/reading portuguese but I can speak it.
honestly, the prediction was not bad at all O.o Well done!
This is so good! So good!
