I’ve watched your video on your reversal. I’m trying to do the same. Also I know grains can pose a problem but what’s your take on adding wheat bran to your diet? No at all or in moderation.
Thank you for your videos I’m learning a lot ❤

@ Thanks, Steve. Wheat bran contains significant carbs. It’s clearly better than ultra processed sources (like cereals, oatmeal, breads). I don’t eat bran at all. If you need that as a transition aware from cereals or oatmeal, it makes sense. But I would not remain there indefinitely. & try a fat source like peanut butter while you do - to slow the sugar effect.

As a sugar addict supreme, I started KETO over a year ago and it took weeks of watching videos to get acquainted with it. I made lists of what I COULD eat and keep it on my fridge (like all the best veggies, etc) not what I couldn't eat. The longer you go, the more creative you'll be coming up with different ways to prepare food. My favorite these days is cooked asparagus or caulifower florets dipped into a bowl of warm melted butter mixed with sauteed garlic and some smoked paprika with sausage patties on the side. The most important thing to begin is watch 4 videos a day to keep you motivated, learn more and experiment! Stevia gets me thru the cravings with herbal tea, coffee and my home made dressing for salads. If I can do it, so can you!

I’ve tried quitting sugar on multiple occasions and the addiction keeps dragging back to failure, bad habits and jeopardized health. Everything you talk about here I’ve know for decades. I’ve been mildly successful at times, then I feel good and fully alive and that’s when I fall off the wagon again. I’ve never been overweight, in fact at times underweight, but for my body, sugar cravings and addiction have been my lifelong nemesis. I’m 51 now, not overweight, but clearly the bad habits are still here. At 51 the bad habits present more harm than 20 or 30 years ago. Your video is an inspiration to try and make healthy moves again. Thank you

Quit all sugar 1 yr ago , dumped anything with sugar out of cabinets and refrig. Lost 20 lbs. I purposely walk through the bakery section in the grocery store - pat myself for picking nothing up. I stand in the aisle reading labels, track food on cronometer. Last week high stress, I felt like a junkie going through cabinet and refrig looking for sugar…the craving passed. I grew up being told carbs good, fat bad. I heard an Italian Dr at the hospital say; beds are full because of SAD. Going out with friends to socialize is difficult because of restaurant menus.

A carb problem is a sugar problem because when the body turns carbs into sugar. It's mind boggling how many different kinds or names there are for sugar!
For example, Most people don't realize that milk has sugar in it (lactose), unless they are or know someone who is allergic or sensitive to it. This means what I grew up as a kid for breakfast ( in the 1960's & 70's) at least on school days- cereal, milk, and 98% of the time O.J. , was really not healthy!

I gave up sugar, carbs & process foods - dropped 20 pounds in 6 months going from a 38/36" waist to a 34" waist. No seed oils either, but I do use organic virgin olive oil, apricot kernel oil aprand castor oil. Vit D, K2, C, B, Zinc, Magnesium and Omega 3. The problem as noted is it's really hard to find the food you can eat in a processed/industrialised food world. Most 'low fat' products are deceptive when you look at the labels - often the sugar content goes way up. As you say, when you start to become label aware - your whole world changes... and I have had many people hint I've lost too much weight.

This video was spot on. I went through something similar myself but a little different. I was eating at least 600 (150g) (plus a lot or minus a little) calories from sugar alone. I am down to between 15-20g per day, 85% decrease. Cutting sources of fructose via cutting sugar should be the 1st step imo as it makes cutting carbs later easier. Made this change over 2 months. I cut other carbs afterwards by about 60-65% from roughly 150g to about 50-60g per day, in meals, not eaten independently. So a net change from 300g carbs per day to 80g carbs today.
Fructose causes those cravings, addictions and psychological effects mentioned to a greater degree when compared glucose by itself. Having an extra slice of bread or small amount of popcorn with olive oil and garlic only mildly impacts my appetite/craving which is easily suppressed. However, when I am stupid enough to buy a sugary food, pack of 4 doughnut on sale (thinking I will eat one and freeze the other) my appetite and craving for sugary and non-sugary carbs spikes to a "significantly" greater and less controllable degree. The same is true for salty carbs like Doritos or Potato chips. Fructose and salt (via a different mechanism), have a greater effect on the craving and addiction factors than glucose by itself which can and does overwhelm rational thought and will power.
You are very correct by saying tackle the sugary first if needed. Cold turkey is tough. Carbs cold turkey after a relapse is easier than during an initial kicking of a high carbs diet.
Of all the benefits which you mentioned, I was not expecting improvements knee joint comfort.
This was a blessing I was not expecting.
Gut health incidents and comfort improved by 85-90%.
David Batista's change is incredible. I am sure he added 5 year and likely more to his life.
As to Pizza, I am sorry, I will never give that up! 😂 However, as a compromise, I only eat "thin" crust pizza.
My only disagreement is with the mentioning "seed oils". I don't believe they are bad as claimed by some and in comparing canola oil to olive oil as an example, their only negative is having less polyphenol content. Overeating any oil-based food is easy as they have 2-1/2 time the calories. I am still looking for more definitive information on this.
Apologies for the long write up folks, I just can't stop after I start.

I firmly believe eating fruits and vegetables will not cause any problems (for non-diabetics). I don't believe God put nutritious fruits and vegetables here for us to avoid them. The problem is the other stuff we eat -- the unhealthy snacks, processed foods and refined sugars. If all we ate were whole foods, fruits and vegetables, we would be 100% healthy. I agree that fruit JUICES are not much better than carbonated drinks, although if unpasteurized, fruit juices do contain some nutrients. Pasteurized juices are basically sugar drinks. But eating a whole fruit provides you with the fruit juice and nutrients, along with fiber that helps slow the absorption of sugar in the fruit.

For me it was always easy to give up fats but not sugar. I thought that both cholesterol and triglycerides were equally bad, a big mistake. Triglycerides are much worse. When I saw how bad carbohydrates are (not just sugar) I made an effort to give them up and I succeeded.
I never thought that just eating salads, tuna, sardines, chicken breast, eggs and some fruit (not juices), turmeric and water twice a day could sustain me, but my anxiety about food went away. Even just walking 3 times a week for 1 hour because of the tachycardia surprised me with the rapid weight loss the first 10 days, I lost more weight than when I did 1 hour of cardio and weights 4 times a week (but I ate oatmeal with honey in the mornings during that time like any fitness lover).
Oats and Honey are "the decoy carbs" but they are actually a wolf in sheep's clothing. They pretend to be good but they raised my triglycerides to the point of causing sleep apnea and hypertension. Everyone talks very well about them but they are just sugar. It wasn't until I removed them COMPLETELY from my diet that things improved without having to kill myself doing hours of cardio and weights. My joints will thank me.
Of course, by trying to cut out with carbs. You realize you are surrounded by them everywhere, I avoid bakeries, it is the ultimate place of doom😂, there is really nothing good there but it is very addictive. Seeing the abundant dangers around us, you become a Ninja or Food or Spy. I accept the challenge to stay alive. Anything to not suffer from horrible Sleep Apnea at 3:00 am again, it is a scary thing to know that you cannot sleep.
    Thank Doctor.

      What causes your sleep apnea?

    • @azhuransmx126
      @azhuransmx126 24 дня назад +1

@@jtlearn1 The inflammation generated by high triglycerides swells the arterial plaque that you have already accumulated over the years from eating carbohydrates. This causes all of your organs to run out of oxygen, especially those that require the most oxygen (Brain, Heart and Lungs). You don't need to be Morbidly Obese to start having problems with shortness of breath because of this, you just need to be over 115cms in waist. Another important thing is age. The only reason why when you are young you can eat junk food, be obese and be sedentary and not die in the process is because your body secretes 100mg of Coenzyme Q10 to energize the heart fighting against all that resistance. but as soon as youth ceases at 34 your CoQ10 levels plummet from 100 to 60mg/day by age 40 and if you keep eating the junk you ate when you were young, 2 or 3 years later you will see how every bite of carbohydrate you eat causes tachycardia and palpitations, you are declared prediabetic and hypertensive at 37, what is worse the pharmaceutical industry indoctrinates cardiologists NOT to send you the vital Q10 but they send you statins that attack the muscles (INCLUDING YOUR HEART) guess how, plummeting further the levels of vital Coenzyme Q10 by up to 45%, while statins prevent the synthesis of cholesterol that is necessary for your hormonal production and to produce testosterone that helps produce muscle, muscles that are the largest consumers of glucose in the blood are being literally dissolved by statins, to the point that if you combine them with Grapefruit can cause a reaction known as Rhabdomyolysis that eats away at your muscles and destroys the kidney by flooding it with myoglobin cells. A real poison. I actually reversed all my damage when I started taking 400mg of Q10 Ubiquinol, the antioxidant enzyme of Youth, on my own, and I will take it until I die because the first capsule ended the chest pains and tachycardia.

I've always been thin. I shudder to think how much visceral fat I must have. I'm 5'6", about 125lbs. and post-menopausal, ie, I'm at my heaviest weight ever, but I'm stable here. I haven't quit carbs - I still have rice, potatoes, etc., but no cereal, soda, etc.. Yesterday, I realized that for me, the carbs have a lot to do with how the plate looks, ie, if I'm having a plate of rice and black beans (cooked with some onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, a little garlic, cumin, turmeric and black pepper) w/an omelette on the side, I need that rice stripe in the middle of the plate.
For anyone who's interested, I measured it a couple of days ago - 1 cup of cooked brown rice = 7.6 ounces, ie, 50g of carbs. I don't even want to calculate the carbs in my black beans, but I could cut the amount of rice by half. It would be a whole new way of eating, but it's gotta be done. The real challenge will be Thanksgiving. I typically don't eat anything after dinner Tuesday night. This Thanksgiving, I'll have the carbs - a little stuffing, some mashed potatoes, 1 small sweet potato, some green beans (not casserole) and I'll give the desserts a pass.
And then I'll not eat again till dinner Saturday. 🤞

    1. Day 1: Minimal effects; some people may not feel significant changes immediately.
    2. Days 2-3:
Common withdrawal symptoms include headaches, irritability, bloating, mild diarrhea, and cravings due to hormonal changes.
This is often referred to as "keto flu," as the body adapts to using fat and protein for energy.
    3. Days 4-7:
Symptoms begin to ease as the body adjusts to the lack of sugar.
Psychological breakthroughs occur, helping individuals realize they can break the addiction.
    4. Days 7-20:
Noticeable benefits, such as weight loss, improved skin, reduced inflammation, and better mental clarity.
    Cravings decrease significantly.
    5. Days 21-30:
The body becomes fat-adapted for energy, with improvements in biomarkers (e.g., glucose, triglycerides, and HDL).
Significant health benefits emerge, including reduced dental and joint issues, improved autoimmune and gut health, and reduced visceral fat.
    Health Benefits
    Physical Health:
    Reduced inflammation and metabolic diseases.
Improved skin conditions like acne and psoriasis.
Decreased belly fat, which is critical for reducing risks of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and organ-related issues.
Mental Health: Enhanced focus, memory, and happiness.
Oral Health: Lowered risk of gum diseases linked to diabetes and metabolic conditions.
Autoimmune and Joint Health: Reduced symptoms of arthritis and gout due to decreased sugar-induced inflammation.
    Challenges
Social and psychological pressures to conform to sugary diets.
Hidden sugars in processed foods make vigilance crucial.
Dining out or attending events can be difficult when adhering to a sugar-free regimen.
    Advice for Beginners
For those deeply accustomed to sugar, gradual reduction (starting with free sugars and processed carbs) is recommended.
Social support and planning are crucial for overcoming both withdrawal symptoms and social pressures.
    Conclusion
Quitting sugar significantly improves overall health and well-being. Scientific evidence and personal experiences strongly support the transformative effects of reducing sugar and processed foods.
