The only other car I find as fascinating right now is the G80.
I too considered an E Class (the E450 and the AMG E53) but I am so glad I chose the 540I Msport. It has the best combination of ride and performance, and has world-beating looks - the E Class just looks stogy.

I think there is a very simple way you can deactivate the fake engine sound forever. If I'm not mistaken, the sound generator is in the rear left corner of the trunk, behind the amplifier. What you need to do is undo the car's trunk lining in the rear left corner, which isn't that difficult, you only need to remove a few screws and plastic protection pieces. The module you are supposed to disconnect should be in the bottom corner. It is connected to the amplifier with a cable and all you need to do is unplug it. There's a black lever on the plug and a little tab holding it locked. Reach in, push the tab, lift the lever and unplug the connection cable. After that just put everything else back where it belongs and the fake engine sound should be gone.

I like your style. This was an entertaining review. I have the 530e with a remap. Similar HP (388) now and now after 5 years except for the i6 e 45 I don't know what comes close as a complete package for the price. Imagine this thing with a remap but without the taxes in Europe... This car is a great value!

I’ve loved 5 series for years since I was stationed in Germany!! They are great cars!!! I own a 2009 328i sedan, and it is a very fast moving car!! It lacks all the great amenities of the new 5, but I still love it!!!! I wish all Korean cars were like the 5 series!!! Especially the G90 sedans!!

Yes, this seems to be the one question i get from this video. Well, this BMW 540i xDrive certainly handles better and sounds better and is faster. But Genesis G80 feels more spacious inside and it just feels more luxurious inside. So, they are just a bit different. Thanks Djamel.
Did you find that the display reflects in the driver window at night to the point of horrible distraction? Major design flaw!!!! Any suggestions to solve for this?

Thinking of getting this or E Class next. What do you all recommend or prefer? I’ve had Mercedes and BMW’s before but always lean more to BMW because of their performance but LOVE the Mercedes interior.
E-class is very nice car. If you want something more elegant get E-class. But if you want better performing car definitely get BMW 5 series. Thanks BBT2K

BMW still makes the best engines and the very best inline 6. I only wish they still made a naturally aspirated straight 6. Hyundai/Genesis could learn a thing or two about engines from BMW and even though they make their own transmission, it's not as good as ones that are supplied to the Germans either in performance or fuel efficiency. The BMW twin turbo straight six, is smaller and on paper it has less power and torque than the twin turbo V6 in the Genesis, but it is clearly faster and more fuel efficient than the V6, and it's more balanced and smoother too. You just can't argue about it. The only question mark is reliability, but most BMWs are leased in the US, so most customers don't care about the reliability.
Also the Genesis G80 (and the GV80) has become very expensive. When the Hyundai Genesis was first released it started at less than $35k and topped off at less than $50k for a fully loaded V8. 12 years later, the G80 starts around $48k for a 4 cylinder and tops off at almost $68k for the V6 with AWD. The BMW 540i with xDrive starts around $62k. The Genesis G80 with the twin turbo and AWD actually starts at $63k, so now it makes no sense. The Prestige package will add another $5,400 to the G80. Yes, you can add almost $20k in options to the 540i, but remember that a lot of those options are not even available on the G80, like massaging seats, the M Sport Package and the Dynamic Handling Package. Those three things add around $8k.
But even if you add those and every other package and option the BMW 540i tops out around $80k in the US, but since it's an old model and not a desirable SUV, dealers are taking off about $7k, so a fully loaded 540i with xDrive is only about $5k more ($73k) than a fully loaded G80. But the 540i will have more equipment and performance features. The 540i will have better performance and fuel economy so after 3 years, the price difference will be even less. They both offer free maintenance for 3 years, but you have to get the G80 serviced at a Hyundai dealer so you get a better service experience with the BMW as well. The G80 wasn't selling well during the last generation, but adding $6-10k to the price isn't going to help them gain market share in a competitive but shrinking market segment...

The G80 isn't that much cheaper. At least not in the US. If you remove the M Sport Package and the Dynamic Handling Package, which aren't even available on the G80, then the 540i with xDrive is only about US $73k. But that's sticker price, and currently BMW dealers are offering the 540i at $2k below invoice pricing, so more like $65k. The Genesis G80 twin turbo with AWD and Prestige Package costs $68k. I mean that's also sticker price, but the G80 is brand new and i don't expect Hyundai dealers to take too much off, so comparatively equipped, the G80 might cost MORE than the 540i. Unbelievable...
@@OlJackBurton I didn't realize a Genesis G80 could push 70k, I thought the G90 was priced like that. Don't get me wrong this 5 series is really nice, i'd just be worried about it outside of warranty. Going to miss the Lexus GS, though.
@@andrewmeehan6151 Hyundai has effectively raised the prices of the G80 by $6k to $10k from the last generation, which is unacceptable IMO. They've essentially killed the biggest advantage they have over the other luxury makes. Other brands don't jack up the price of their models after every redesign despite making profound improvements either in performance or features. But Hyundai already feels that they can charge the same or even more than established Japanese luxury and pseudo luxury brands and challenge the German luxury brands almost straight up. Good luck with that. The Japanese have never been able to do that, and even Lexus, Audi and Cadillac, despite having much more prestige than Hyundai/Genesis can not command prices on the level of MB and BMW.
They might be able to get away with it on the GV80 and the GV70 and the upcoming GV90 because SUVS are already quite overpriced relative to the sedans their based on, despite not costing much more to produce. And there is no precedent for potential Genesis buyers to compare the SUV pricing to unlike the Hyundai/Kia SUVs, which haven't seen as large a price jump, despite still being quite expensive. The average new vehicle price in the US has gone up about 20% in 10 years largely because of SUVs and light trucks...
