Heard this on Classic FM and kept missing who it was by. Karl Jenkins in an amazing composer, and his Armed Man Suite, especially Benedictus, is wonderful. I absolutely love it. Thank you, Karl, the Benedictus lifts my spirits. 👌
I still remember the first time I heard this work. I was listening to Classic FM on my way from Pretoria to Johannesburg. The melody captivated me instantly. I have since listened to many versions, many different arrangements. I truly believe this piece (work..) of art comes from the heavens above! BRAVO!
Baritone and brass in heavenly communion: this is music of the profundest beauty, and more than that, it demonstrates that religious music remains inspiration for composition that stands proud by its own humble virtues, to compare with any, made alive by a superb choir and brass ensemble, not to forget the source of such creative genius, Karl Jenkins.
This stunning piece is so welcome and in Queensland where the Welsh understanding of music is new! I feel privileged to have this opportunity to display it here. Inspirational Karl.
Look below for the comment 'this touches the soul' Yes this music certainly touches my soul, I believe it is the rhythm of the music, in harmony with our mind, with our soul, as our heart beats slows as we listen. If your lost, go back to church and sing your heart out and you will start healing. Your emotions may cry too, let that happen as it is also God looking for your soul, then finding you, God Bless.
I sang tenor with a mixed choir in South Wales, and these tenor 's are seriously good. Wish I were singing with them. Terrific performance of a great work by Wales' newest Knight. Arise Sir Karl.
It's got less what part of this Earth we were born on, but more to do with being connected to our Higher Power & being Spiritually aligned, much love & many blessings 🕉💝🙏 ...but I do love this Welsh male choir 😘
Recently discovered this and now I can't stop playing it. Probably the most beautiful, moving composition ever. Absolutely captivating. This is one of the best versions on RUclips.
The tenors in this song are awesome. The blending is perfect. I would suggest also if you could listen and watch the "2 Cellos" play this. It is probably the most moving and awesome video I've ever seen in my life. If it doesn't bring tears, then might wanna get your tear ducts checked.
Heavenly music. The exquisite tones David Childs produces on the euphonium provide massive depth to the total mix of voices and brass. Makes the HOSANNAS that much more spectacular.
Omg yes! The strings are amazing and the emotion I feel when it gets to the point where they join together after the benedictus benedictuuuus....bit is just heartbreaking. I don't know why but it breaks my soul just for a second then I am overcome with so much joy from them. They are without a doubt the best musicians I have ever seen.
@@lauraaa2222 There are no string instruments here, therefore no cellos either as some have mentioned!! This is a brass band regarded as the best in the world.
@@gwynethroberts3515 she waas referring to the @ cellos...you should check out Hauser's (one of the 2 cellos)...simply stunning and 7 million other people agree
Well, the god referred to clearly didn't have much love for all the miners who have perished underground, or for the schoolchildren and teachers of Aberfan, who died when that damn tip slipped down the hill, just over 54 years ago.
What a stunning version. If you'd asked me wether this would have worked with a colliery band and an all male choir I would probably have said no but I'm so happy to be proved wrong.
My fist time hearing this was when it was used as the widows and children of fallen servicemen and women entered the Royal Albert Hall for Remembrance Service about three years ago. So very moving.
Hi yes you have three of my favorites 1...Karl Jenkins 2...Euphonium 3..Benidicttus I sing this in many of the choirs but not this rendition.......the Euphonium I use to play when younger really nicely played with feeling...thanks
dont no im afraid...im from UK and all his stuff is readily available here as he's based near me. The production company he uses is called 'Doyen' if that helps. It's run by his dad and uncle who are both also great players
they have actually done a cd together, called "this land of ours" i believe. that's cory band and cantorion male voice choir (cantorion and only men aloud are basically the same thing)
I first heard this piece of music whilst watching a Scottish "soap" River City. The music was played during an emotional episode and I had to find out what the music was......I think the version without the brass is actually more effective and spiritual. But all a matter of taste, I prefer strings in an full orchestral piece. But this is excellent too......have a look at the video on here by keef1212 and let me know which version you prefer.
Rob Mitchell Rob, I will give the 2Cellos version a listen when I get a minute. Will let you know what I think......I'm not keen on brass as a rule, I really prefer strings.
I've just listened to it and I agree it is fantastic....have you heard the Karl Jenkins version? Have a listen and let me know which one you prefer......
Orchestra looks like they belong playing in a circus with their red gilded jackets - why would Jenkins allow this??? Still a beautiful hymn. Totally! Thank you Karl Jenkins!

Agreed. This piece has stirred my soul many times. I use it to get myself to relax and turn from the mundane and think of a Higher Power. It calms me.
" comes from the heavens above " !?!?. What do you mean ? Composed by a rain cloud? Bloody nonsense. It came from the composer.

Anyone who thinks they don’t like classical music should listen to this, absolutely bloody FANTASTIC, Wow!!!

The Welsh certainly do seem to have a special music gene that sets them apart from the rest of us. And the world is a better place for it.
Very well put. I'd also add the Scots and the Irish to that. A fantastic musical palate that speaks to the soul.
Couldn't agree more.

Never heard it sung so beautiful!
Do check out the 2cellos performance of this gorgeous music. Their interpretation is unbelievably and astoundingly beautiful. It touches the soul.
Larry I agree. The Two Cellos is still the best so far.

Everybody has a talent.
Wonderful, simply wonderful, it imprints indelibly on one's musical memory.
We are singing this next January (2017) with the Loxley Silver Band. Cannot wait. One of my most favourite pieces of all time.
perfection just perfection
I'm not a religious man but I love music and there's no doubt that much of religiously based music is beautiful.
The most exalted performance of Benedictus by far. The choir and the brass - these sound divinely together.
Male voice choir is unique and the display is versatile with the Brass Band blend. God bless you all!
Ah, the Welch! God must have loved them very much.......He gifted them with Sir Karl Jenkins.

goosebumps! distinctly OMA but with more finesse . What a versatility these guys show. Keep it up.
I've liked Benedictus for a long time, but this is the first I've ever seen Karl Jenkins. He looks remarkably like Robert Keeshan.

Why has this man not been knighted?
A musical genius, even if he does look like Captain Kangaroo. Wonder if he's heard the 2cellos do this.

a very simple song but, its hard to land high and low tones perfectly, bdw i sang tenor in mixed, and 1st tenor in TTBB..
Beaut cannot fault it am in heaven 😂👌
I had no idea Captain Kangaroo was British, lol
Do you know anyplace to buy his CDs in the US? I cant find a place that has it in non-Euro form.
