Wow! The Qantas 737 pilot did a very smooth landing, great job!👍👍
Soooo fast! I bet those brakes were hot!
It looked so fast. I would not have liked to be a passenger. Thanks pilots.
He made that look ridiculously easy.
Ryanair landing would have been an earthquake
That was amazing. The pilot did an amazing job but I'm in absolute awe of the engineers and ground crew who make that possible.
The Boeing 747 was the grand old lady of the skies. Rode in 'em many times and always a GREAT ride. Will miss them a LOT.
Me too! My favorite plane ever! RIP to the Queen of the Skies!❤❤
Also true of Dutch and Czech ladies.
Know the first is in a museum, the last should be too when the time comes
Why would you miss the 747? There are hundreds of them still flying... for at least two more decades.
Was? The freighters will continue to fly for years. I see many on clear days as they are climbing out at about 10,000 feet over our house heading to the Midwest and Eastern USA. I live about 25 miles north of the third busiest freight airport in the world and I’ll bet at least a third of these freighters are 747s.
Soooo, i simple fly over is now called a refusal to land???
Yeah, the usual clickbate titles.
It's only RUclips. Don't panic.
@@freedomforever6718 panik ahhhhh
Well it could be read as he refuses to land and decides to do a low pass instead to celebrate the aircraft and then landed afterwards.. could of been entirely staged..just a thought
Yup, welcome to this channel. Every upload there’s something to this effect
The Boeing 747 has such a serious, business-like expression on its face, which I really like. Some modern planes are all like, "look at me, I'm a plane, I'm having fun!". But the 747 had focus, poise and a statesmanlike quality. I would trust it with my life, and indeed have done on two occasions. Needless to say it didn't let me down and here I am, alive and in one-piece, to offer my fascinating insight into the facial expressions of different aircraft. You're all very welcome.
I've always thought that head-on the 747 looks a lot like a hamster.
I just googled "head on view of 747", and I have to agree with you. It does have a certain hamsteresque quality to it. I can see the puffed-out hamster cheeks and its big cute nose. Maybe this is why I feel so positive about the 747's commitment to the job. I've never been let down by a hamster - quite the opposite in fact. I got a pet hamster when I was six years old, and called it Treacle. She passed away just before my 21st birthday - she was 15 years of age. She was a great pet - lively and unpredictable. Every two to three years she seemed to get a new lease on life,. RIP dear Treacle :( @@davel3402
Well that was quite boring.

Damn, even when the qantas 737 pilot had a flaps issue, he still managed to butter it.

@@Renato.Stiefenhofer.747driverTrue, but most of those are cargo configured.
As a pilot 25 years retired I have to say I am impressed the Qantas 737 landing despite no flaps.
I have never experienced that particular scenario except in a sim, but well done!
Technically, one cannot refuse to land a plane. Sooner or later, it's got to come down.
Well that's true! 😂
It’s just a question whether the landing was requested or an unplanned terra firma convergence event.

2:02 Oh look, a real chemtrail.. But seriously it shows that when spraying or dumping you can see the substance immediately after it leaves the aircraft, whereas contrails form some distance behind the aircraft as the hot vapor filled exhaust cools and condenses around soot particles.

747 who?
Queen of the Skies, sorry to see her production end.
The Qantas landing felt like I'm watching F-16
The 380 was never a threat
To the 747.
Refusing to land or not is irrelevant. Aviation has a perfect record. We have never left an aircraft up there.
Pretty cool to see the difference between the slow and smooth landing at Stansted vs the crazy fast Qantas landing flaps up. The first one showed just under 140 knots (1:19), can anyone estimate how fast the other one was going? 200-ish maybe? (1:40)
Probably something like that, at least it's what it felt like
Minimum clean speed for a 737 appears to be around 200 to 210 knots IAS so they were likely going a little faster than that
@@balthazar259minimum clean speed is at take off weights. This is well below this. Probably less than 180 knots. This really isn’t a big deal. We train for a no flap or partial flap landing all the time in the sim.
@@rtbrtb_dutchy4183 Ah, I hadn't thought of that, thanks for the info !
Tire speed limit on the 737 is 195kn. They will accommodate this by burning fuel before landing if necessary.
@@rtbrtb_dutchy4183 interesting info, thanks! After posting this I realized that the two shots made for a pretty difficult comparison, since they have such different perspectives. It's hard to feel how fast the plane is going when you're looking from the cockpit at the entire wide runway vs having to pan the camera to follow the plane.
Thank you, Orville & Wilbur Wright for your astounding invention ... 1 of the greatest ever & will always be. The remarkable intellect it took these 2 brothers to come up with such a world changing object is beyond what at least a million average folks have combined. Every time I witness anything to do with flight {videos/TV/real life}, be it any kind of plane or, better yet ... space craft, I am left in awe to the extent that I usually begin to cry. The marvel of it all is beyond words. 🛩
I hope the AeroSucre pilots are ok. Haven't seen them in a while 😟
Qantas landing was incredible , nice vids this round :) as always
Was the first one the 'pilot refused to land'? I'm confused, but VERY satisfied, this is one of your FINEST videos, I absolutely loved every second, the last 747 tribute was emotional and more so if the pilot made it happen, the threshold suddenly appearing at minimums was astonishing, I only saw and flew in a Fokker 100 once (from Truk Lagoon, amazing diving!) so it was a buzz to see another one, such pretty little things, and the speed that 737-800 had on board without flaps was crazy. Another channel could have gotten half an hour out of this :)
Yes, it's called BULLSHIT which is why i gave it a thumb down!
Really enjoyed this video ❤ love the queen of the skies !
Gotta love the sound of those mighty Rolls-Royce Tay engines on the F100!
lol Surprisingly, that Qantas landed like a butterfly with sore feet.
That Jumbo is not "dumping fuel" its venting not dumping
Venting? The naca scoops near the wingtips sometimes vent fuel. This stream is not near the wingtip. It doesn't look like it's dumping either. Dumping usually involves two nozzles. Maybe there was a valve stuck open (or stuck closed)
Can't wait for that Air Canada hard, bouncy landing at YYZ yesterday, to show up here.
That was just so close to a serious crash….
747, best looking bird in the sky, only my opinion 👍🏻😎
Thank you for Featuring my video!
I love the sound of an F100 during takeoff, such a unique sound
Back in the seventies worked in an aircraft machine shop,, machining 747 internal Wing parts on 5 axis, the parts had extensive machining however they were still a heavy part...
Love how the Qantas pilot had the auto-spoilers set for when the main gear touched but kept the nose up at the same time to wash off speed & prevent the nose gear from collapsing. Qantas' customer service might be in the toilet at the moment but it's flight crew are worlds-best.

What??? 😊❤
2:02 Nothing better than some JET-A in your morning coffee!
The 747, a true lady in the sky and forever the Queen. Heartbreaking production has ended.
If we are perfectly accurate, when the "minimum" rings, there is no visual on the runway nor the lighting system
"...no visual..." Exactly. It was only a second or two later he saw the runway - but that low he might have hit something, bad practice. What was all that throttle movement about? I think he landed past the markers too.
@@evaluateanalysis7974first of all, I don’t think it said “minimums”. It sounds like “approaching minimums”. That is still 100 feet above minimums.
Secondly, the camera is at a different angle than the pilots. Just because the camera didn’t pick it up, doesn’t mean the pilots didn’t see it.
Approach lights came into view just in time to continue the approach, I'd say.
Yeah I think you guys are right, we hear "approaching minimum" so there is still a margin to get visual on the runway or on the lights

I have been a passenger on a 747 only once. But it was an odd experience. A colleague and I had taken a small private plane to LAX to catch a plane to Chicago, but we got there too late. We had to take one late at night. There had been some issue where the airline needed to move a 747 from Los Angeles to Chicago for a Hawaii flight the next day. The plane was deadheading with no passengers, except for the two of us. (I'm sure that wasn't a situation the airline wanted to get itself into wasting all the fuel and crew time. Perhaps they had a mechanical issue with a plane in Chicago.) We told the crew they didn't have to do anything for us, and we mainly slept. And spent some time walking around the empty plane. It was a bit surreal.
I have not had that on a 747 but I have been on a Airbus 321 where there were just four passengers flying back to London from Türkiye. It does feel surreal to have as many cabin crew as passengers.
The takeoff and landing of every plane is beautiful. Airplanes are the best invention 👍👍👍
I flew many times to Hawaii on the 747 when they had the lounge upstairs with the piano. It was fantastic the 747 is a beautiful aircraft.
I grew up in a small town. My dad used to take us to the airport once in a while to wait and watch the turboprop land at night which was once a week. He took us to Dairy Queen to get Dillys. Sometimes went for rides for no reason at all. Had a Donald Duck hose sprayer fountain in the front yard one summer.
Great video!😸
👍 thanks again!! :)
Super sad about the last 747 cracking plane, cracking times!!
In the first 737 video there is no touchdown and the touchdown zone finished .. that would be a mandatory go around or a red flag on the fdm..
Stunning 747. Love those babies ❤
The Qantas 737 had no flaps but still buttered it😮
1:00 nice butter!
Where did that guy film the 747 at cruising height from? Did he have a massive lens or something?
Nice
2:00 That isn't a fuel dump, the fuel dump is out near the tips of the wing on a 747 (outboard of the slow speed ailerons), whatever it is it's coming from the #1 engine/strut and could either be a hydraulic or a fuel leak.
The 747 has 4 independent hydraulic systems which are housed in the rear of the engine struts.
Yeah, that didn't seem like much of a flow for a fuel dump.
Agreed.
Originally the 747 was just going to be mainly a cargo carrier once the SSTs arrived on mainstream use. Doubt Boeing thought in 1966 that the 747 would have such a long run (or perhaps the 737 too).
at 00.58 I dont know UK CAA rules, BUT most authorities like EASA a CAT2 app has to be done with AP engaged and AUTO LAND ON to a certain point, in this case it was CAT2 manual, perhaps an issue like low fuel or a FAA airplane and pilots that CAT2 may be done manually w FDs ON
The BAe146 was cat2 it didn’t have auto land or auto throttle
Corrected title: "Pilot of the Last 747 Ever Built Flies a Low Pass"
So, where is the vid of the plane which refused to land? It’s not on this clip I guess…. Is the plane still in the air?
Showing off it's Krueger flaps.
Most early jet airliners, such as the Boeing 707 and Boeing 747, used Krueger flaps only.
That my friend is what they call a low approach. Not bad for a 747.
Co-pilot: lets land this heavy plane
Pilot: *NO*
I live by an airport. Do they sometimes dump fuel on my house and me?
1:36 Wow. He is flying!
This music is fun :D
Salute to the Captain of the 747!
Getting a little click baity.... I lose trust fast when that happens 😕
This may or may not be a stupid question! When planes dump fuel doe's it evaporate or come down as rain?
depends on altitude
Leaving the desert in iraq in 91 late at night pitch black no lights we arrived somewhere and waited then all of a sudden they turned on their lights we were 50 yards from a big beautiful 747 waiting to take us back to germany the sight of that gigantic plane sitting there was awsome the pilots and flight attendants waving at us from the cockpit hatch was way cool my squad loaded all the baggage in the cargo hold and we got to ride 1st class all the way home double steak dinner o ya 😊
Which video was it where the pilot refused to land?
I'm trying to figure that out myself.

Never let the real title of your first clip get in the way of the fake title of your whole video.
That 747 flyby is not from KPAE. I fly out of there multiple times a week and do not recognize any of that scenery.
When the pilot realized he left that pot roast in the stove 2000 miles away lol
I wonder if and how far removed these 400's are compared to the first off the line 30+ years ago. I wonder if there's stuff 'under the hood ' thats borrowed from the neo series for example
30+ years ago? How about 55 years ago? 1968
@@fluchterschoen I referenced the 400's (1989)
Yes, you did, you did...I think the comparison between the latest 747s and the first production models would be more illuminating, and it's a more intuitive comparison to make (when it's just for the sake of comparison).
One of the key reasons for introducing 'models' or 'series' within an overarching 'product' or 'type' is to create consistency in areas like design, production engineering, servicing, operation. As you well know.
Therefore, while the first 747-400 and the last 747-400 will differ; I wouldn't expect those differences to be too dramatic, since dramatic changes usually lead to a whole new variant being created/named. @@JBPALU
Imagine Ryanair 737 pilot with flaps issue…
Lawn Dart
Ryan Air pilots motto: “Land like you have no flaps”…..probably
So this means a high speed taxi test would be a refusal to takeoff? 😂
Only if ATC thought you were planning to go airborne, I'd say. Then again, I wouldn't have called this a refusal.
I’ve refused to take off plenty of times. And refused to land a few.
Can I ask, have all Jumbo jet production now ceased, by jumbo jet I mean the very large planes like the 747 and the 380?
Unfortunately, there are no more four engined commercial airliners in production at this time. The last A380 was delivered to Emirates in December 2021, and the last B747 (a cargo version of the so called "dash 8" series) left Seattle in January 2023.
@@Alex-tw7wh So what are the cargo carriers going to use in future?
@@markm-ci6rj
Both Boeing and Airbus already have cargo versions of the B777 and the A330 operating. Airbus is developing a freigter version of the A350 with a planned entry into service by the end of 2025 (so they say...). Even though the twin engine versions will eventually replace the 747, the "queen" will be around for many years or rather decades to come. Customer support is very good, spare parts plentiful and especially the older 400 versions mostly paid off, so they will continue to make money for their operators despite the economic disadvantage of four engines.

The 737 cockpit view landing at Stansted; what is this captain doing?! Taking your hands off the throttles (and thus the TO/GA buttons) when disconnecting the autopilot? At such low altitude?! And subsequently flaring too high, whilst adding thrust and therefore floating down the touchdown zone. A perfect example of a (too long) power ON landing. 😂
I was searching for this comment. You are perfectly right. TDZ completely missed and adding power on flare O.O

That 737 should have been on autopilot until landing assured. Fly manual approaches in good visibility or in the sim.
ADS-B Exchange spotted me a C-5 and a C-17 last night couple miles away, presumably going to/from Edwards AFB. Desktop not far from patio so ran out and looked North-East.
Dumping fuel?......what a load of rubbish. The dump vent is out near the wingtip.
Great news to all Boeing 747 jumbo jet fans, I've been one since the very first PanAm 747 took flight the fall of 1971. Anyway they are back in production filling orders in place of the defunked airbus a380 to Emerits airlines. The cargo carriers still prefer them to the overpriced 777 cargo version 😊❤😅😊😊

The 747 cargo was not dumping fuel. If it was that you would have it on each wing. In that case it’s a jettison valve who is leaking.
Its not even the right spot for the jettison valve, it should be closer to the end of the wing and not behind the engine
