I'm tired of brands trying to come out with 'universal' skin products. What works on my fair skin is not going to work on somebody with a deep skin tone, and vice versa. Just come out with an inclusive shade range, instead.

Have spent too much money on trying these brands no matter how clean the formula and maybe they are less like glue texture than others lmao but them coming out of the tube or etc looking "sheer/light" ends there the second you apply it to your face. I so badly have tried to make zinc physical spfs work for years because they are so much healthier for you but having super blemish and oily prone skin they are the koss of death for me as I'm so congested by the end of the day and ruins the efforts of all my amazing skincare year round. So per thay have to stick with quality chemical formulas to be able to have protection and not ruin the work of the rest of my skincare. Wa wa wa! 😅

You articulated your thoughts so well! I feel the same way - this is my current favorite sunscreen. I don’t understand why they couldn’t be transparent (ha) about the sheerness of the product on all skin tones. Not every product works for every skin tone and/or skin type, why do brands feel like sunscreens need to be marketed as if they do?

yeah I actually wanted to do a haul with this brand just to show how they perform but now I’m rethinking that. Only sunscreen that’s clear is supergoop unseen sunscreen so I really like that one!!! No oil, shimmer, doesn’t claim to have coverage. Just CLEAR!!!
Very easy to find clear chemical sunscreens, which is what Supergoop unseen sunscreen is. But for those of us with sensitivities to chemical sunscreen, it’s much harder to find sheer mineral sunscreens
I got gifted the new Supergoop mineral sunscreen and my skin tone leans a bit more on the medium side and it definitely leaves a cast more like a gray cast and if I wear it without any foundation or tinted moisturizer, I look sick! The Saie one definitely works a lot better for me. Interested in the Dr. Dennis Gross sunscreen too. I just need to finish the ones I already own 😅
I have those too! Reviews coming for both very soon. Spoiler, I love the DDG but again, it’s not universal and it’s being marketed as such. The Supergoop didn’t work for me

I can get away with it now that the weather is warming up and it’s humid where I live so my skin tends to get a bit more oily but definitely can’t wear it in the winter it’s too dry.
I don’t think it’s a surprise but it’s important to mention: brands that tout themselves as clean and from some sort of ethical bent that align w the “goop” type consumer has consistently been shown to have problematic responses to their treatment of race: saie, kosas, ilia, etc. It’s important for consumers to pay attention- even if a brand claims they’re ethically superior but is tone deaf to race and ethnicity - save your money. Plenty of well meaning white owned brands have gotten away with this for years for appealing to white consumers. But with the internet keeping receipts we are much better at keeping track of these issues- spend your money and encourage the growth on businesses that are owned by anyone considered a “minority” and by brands who take the time and attention to be mindful and compassionate to response if they’re held accountable. There are sooo many products out there!
@@Balletified I would encourage you to look beyond just a shade range of one product when determining if a brand is inclusive or not. Historically, Ilia has not been kind to people of color and I am basing this on direct feedback from my friends who are influencers and are also black. Prior to Ilia expanding their shades this year, they had disregarded and ignored POC consumers for YEARS, saying "oh we have enough shades, the frosted concealer packaging just makes it look lighter than it is." And, "we developed these shades to include everyone!" When they launched a line of glosses last year they launched all light pink shades and one medium orange. When they launched their expanded skin tints and concealers, they only added 4 deep shades but added a bunch of medium and light shades. I think the thing that feels the most icky to me is all these brands marketing it as sheer are going to get people with darker skin tones buying their product and believing them..and then they try it out. It’s disrespectful and a massive waste of BIPOC time and money. And then there’s the gaslighting 🤡

appreciate your rant - it's spot on. bummer said didn't respond well to the constructive criticism. despite all that, I love this this sunscreen. even layered to use the proper amount, doesn't dehydrate my skin throughout the day. keeps it feeling moisturized. biossance has a nice zinc sunscreen too. not as hydrating as this one but good. definitely leaves a white cast. I'm pretty pale & don't mind it, except on my eyelids for some reason. pulls a little red I think. thanks for your honest reviews
I shared on Instagram and in my best new blush video, but the founder of Saie personally emailed me to apologize and said she was committed to doing better (or something like that.) Their new releases have been better so I’m hopeful and glad they saw my video.
I do too, I've enjoyed a few Saie products so I'm disappointed that they didn't respect my constructive criticism. This happens with so many brands though, I'm not trying to single out Saie. This will be a theme on my channel, I'm sure.

Thanks for this review! Was so curious how this differed from Slip Tint (which I also like). Love what you said about the pump - working in the beauty industry, it's pretty simple to get a pump with the proper dosage for a product (as there are lots of options). It seems like they aesthetically wanted the tube and pump to match Slip Cover which is totally fine - but I think there should be more education on how much of the spf you need to use to get that protection. Agree with just being honest - I think it's common knowledge now that zinc is white and very, very difficult to formulate to be "sheer" on all skin tones at a high level - so if it doesn't work on deeper skin tones, that should be communicated - Carli

I definitely don't expect all brands to release 100% inclusive products all the time, I really just want transparency and authenticity. If it doesn't work on everyone, they should say so. (And this applies to SO many brands.)

The fact that they’re working so hard to gaslight their darker skinned customers is so disappointing and embarrassing. What is the shame in saying “we missed the mark here and we’re adding a second tone to this product line” ?? That would garner far more respect than the way they’re handling this now. I’m sorry that your feedback got you removed from their list.

I reviewed it on my Instagram in my sunscreen series! I have a review of it on my SPF highlights. Unfortunately, I had to stop using all chemical SPFs. Even the Krave stung my face occasionally.
Ugh, I don't because I used to be oily but since hitting 30 I'm BONE DRY. I will say, an oily skin recommendation that I still use is the Paula's Chocie super light daily wrinkle defense. It has a matte finish and it's SO lightweight. I adore it!

I agree. I get it, they want positive reviews and don't think the return is great if they're giving out free products for less than stellar reviews, but I just want to see more authenticity from brands.

I follow you on Instagram and I remember when this launched, I saw the IG stories about how problematic the marketing was for the product, so I am VERY surprised to hear you actually ended up liking it! I’ve heard the kinship is also very dewy..which one would you say you enjoy more?
I wanted to give an objective review of the product separate from my opinions on their marketing, but I still wanted to provide the whole context for consumers. The Kinship is very moisturizing, I wouldn't say it's dewy unless you're in a hot or humid climate. In the summertime it's a little too heavy for me but in the winter it totally sets to a satin finish. The Saie is just straight up dewy at all times no matter what.
I just wanna know what they’re telling these models when they’re doing these demos. “okay guys, so this won’t look good on you and you’ll look ashy as hell but we want to lie to our customers so just go with it, alright?” like let’s think about how traumatizing it must be for those models to have to sit there and apply it and know that it’s going to look ashy on them, yet they’re still made to do it
YES I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR AGES! I have had several conversations with brands telling them how traumatizing it must be for the black models they employ to sit there being used as a tool for representation's sake without actually having products that were made for them.

I think the majority of consumers don't pay attention to intent, marketing tactics, inclusivity, etc. So it probably doesn't affect their bottom line.

You should do a review of Krave beauty’s the beet shield (it’s SPF 50 but they can’t market it as a sunscreen in the US for legal reasons)

I just wanna know what they’re telling these models when they’re doing these demos. “okay guys, so this won’t look good on you and you’ll look ashy as hell but we want to lie to our customers so just go with it, alright?” like let’s think about how traumatizing it must be for those models to have to sit there and apply it and know that it’s going to look ashy on them, yet they’re still made to do it
YES I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR AGES! I have had several conversations with brands telling them how traumatizing it must be for the black models they employ to sit there being used as a tool for representation's sake without actually having products that were made for them.
