I've faced acne since my early tween years, and after starting to use rice berry sunscreen by liittllextra, my skin is very sensitive, extremely dry, and still very prone to breakouts and flare-ups. I strongly suggest this sun screen if you have sensitive, dry skin and are dealing with acne. I usually layer it over rice berry moisturizer and it feels amazing! It’s incredibly moisturizing and makes my skin feel plump, does not sting my eyes or the rest of my face whatsoever, and from what I can tell, the sunscreen itself has not contributed to my breakouts. It imparts a lovely glow, which boosts my confidence about my skin despite the severe acne. I highly recommend this sunscreen! There is light at the end of the tunnel my fellow acne-struggling friends

Alastin Hydratint is my holy grail! Feels like skincare on the face. The SPF is 36, which is a little less than some mentioned here, but I wear it daily without fail, so it works. I've tried several and have come back to Elta Physical. It's the most flattering for me and feels good. Cera-ve is way too dark and orange. The new Neutrogena mineral sunscreen is too shiny and the light shade is very light which is surprising on my light skinUlta UV physical is just right, does not feel tacky, does not shine, and I like the pore-blurring effect that you mention.

  • @lindseycassini1560
    @lindseycassini1560 Год назад +15

I quite like the Australian Gold BB Cream as makeup and sunscreen in one, gives a nice blurring effect and they have different shades available, so it is one of the few that do not look orange or too dark on me. And, it is super affordable! The only problem is that it does gets very drying along the day :/

I also like the Australian Gold BB cream, but find it is drying.. especially in the winter. Lately I have been using the Skin Aqua 50+ Super Moisture Shower Milk Sunscreen (a new holy grail for me) over a gel moisturizer, then several minutes later, I apply a little bit of the AG BB cream for coverage. I recently purchased the Sum Bum SPF 30 Daily Mineral Sunscreen Moisturizer and am excited to try it. I believe it is new. It has a light tint and is water resistant for 80 minutes. The tint appears to be a lighter shade than the Sun Bum SPF 30 Tinted Sunscreen face lotion.

You look super fresh and beautiful Dr Ellis!
If there are any Korean sunscreen fans reading the comments here's one for your consideration. First, my skin type, combination, oily t zone. Skin tone - on the fairer side, can tolerate a little white cast.
Recommendation: axis y sunscreen Version 3 (not the earlier versions). It's now fragrance free and purely zinc oxide based, upon initial application it looks like it will give a cast, but after settling down it gives a tone up effect (like a healthy glow after applying foundation? But definitely not a pasty white). Also it's a liquid gel type like japanese sunscreens, so it feels quite pleasant to apply on my skin.
I'm using it on top of benzoyl peroxide and azelaic acid cream, and it doesn't cause any itching. Overall a good sunscreen. Also I'm in southeast Asia where it's really humid at the moment and this doesn't feel sticky or heavy for me. Hope this helps! Thanks again for this video Dr Ellis!

Loved the tip to layer the Colorescience products! I love the FS Flex and put it on in 2 layers, but in the winter its can be too drying to do that. Your content turned me on to Colorescience and I haven't worn traditional makeup since. I use the balms, the total eye tint, mineral eye shadow and mascara now and love it. With the hotter temps we're experiencing this year its great to have a product that's as sweatproof as what Colorescience makes!

What I look for in my 3 ideal sunscreens:
I am 18 y/o with dry skin and I live in Mississippi.
    1st sunscreen:
    - This sunscreen would be only for my face and neck.
    - High UVA protection.
    - High UVB protection. < spf 100 or spf 50+
    - Mineral sunscreen.
    - White cast would be fine.
    - Does not string the eyes.
    - With no fragrance.
    - No bad ingredients that could cause me harm.
    - It would leave my skin hydrated but not dewy or oily.
    - It would come in a jar.
    2nd sunscreen:
    - This sunscreen would be only for my face and neck.
    - High UVA protection.
    - High UVB protection. < spf 100 or spf 50+
    - Chemical sunscreen.
    - Zero white cast.
    - Does not string the eyes.
    - With no fragrance.
    - No bad ingredients that could cause me harm.
    - It would leave my skin naturally hydrated with a glowy look.
    - It would come in a jar.
    3rd sunscreen:
    - This sunscreen would be for my arms, hands, legs, feet, etc.
    - High UVA protection.
    - High UVB protection. < spf 100 or spf 50+
    - Chemical/Mineral sunscreen
    - Zero white cast.
    - With no fragrance.
    - No bad ingredients that could cause me harm.
    - It would leave my skin hydrated and glowy.
    - Good price.
    - 500mL
    - It would come in a large container, like a lotion, with a pump.

like many in the comments, i'm a fan of the australian gold tinted bb cream sunscreen. it meets all my requirements: spf 50, broad spectrum, non-nano zinc/titanium oxide which i can even put on my eyelids without irritation (!!!), comes in multiple shades for deeper skin tones, water resistant for 80 minutes, matte finish (so rare in sunscreens in my experience), AND it's affordable to boot. the one thing about it is that i have to double cleanse to remove it, but i put up with that because it's likely due to the water resistance.

I have been a recent fan of Drmtlgy's Broad Spectrum (45 SPF) sunscreen. I love the lotion "feel": not too thick and goes on like a really lovely moisturizer. It purports to be for sensitive skin, which is why I was attracted to it originally. The only drawback, for me, is that it is not water resistant. It does come in a tinted formula, but I purchased the untinted version because I worry about tints not being a good match for my fair, 50+ skin. Thank you for this video! It provides more options for me--especially the water resistant/sensitive skin ones. 😊

I only use mineral sunscreen and only tinted because I don't want any whiteness. I have several favorites, the Elta MD being one ... I also love the Weightless Liquid Mineral Sunscreen With Zinc Oxide SPF 30 by First Aid Beauty ... my only complaint about it is that I wish it was a higher SPF.

I keep returning to the MyChelle Sunshield because it doesn't hurt my eyes, is invisible if rubbed in well, and doesn't make my mascara smudge, but it's only SPF 28

The Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47, there is a tinted version. It’ si really hydrating. I’m fair so I dont’ t use the tinted version. Il use the normal sunscreen for years and it’s a lovely formula for my face ❤😊

Kinship is my new favorite! I have dry skin and it leaves a nice finish. I love the color - just slightly tinted, cool shade. I used to like Pipette but was getting a rash on my neck from it.

Hi, I know this video is a bit old. I finally started wearing facial sunscreen day about a year ago at age 55. I saw a recommendation for La Roche Posay minderal sunscreen, and was initially using their regular one, then discovered by accident that there was one that was tinted, which I think looks a lot better.
My one question as a guy is this - I've never worn makeup, or even a moisturizer (well up until a year ago when I started using CeraV PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion, but in the morning before I put on my subscreen. I also wear a hat to protect my balding head, and I also put sunscreen on my neck and ears so that I'm protected in these exposed areas as well. The problem I have is that the hat gets stained with either the white or the tint depending on which sunscreen I use, and my colored shirts do as well. So, I guess I'm wondering if there is a particular type of sunscreen formulation that has less potential to do that, or is this something that is always a problem regardless? Do women who use makeup have this issue with their clothes, or if not, how is it avoided?
Sorry for such a newbie basic question! Thanks for your video, it was very helpful!

I will need to try some of your tinted options. The ISDIN leaves me with terrible gray cast.

Been waiting for this video - thanks Dr. Ellis! My favorite mineral sunscreens right now are: Hero Superlight SPF 30 and Saint Jane Sun Ritual Pore Smoothing SPF 30. I love the Hero sunscreen on it's own on days I'm not wearing makeup (which tbh is most days haha I'm not a makeup gal), but my best friend has worn it on it's own and under makeup and she says it works great for both. I love the Saint Jane one under makeup as a primer, and it's nice enough to be worn on it's own as well, it just doesn't have enough coverage for my personal preference. They're both great for my combination/sensitive/red skin. Been wanting to try the Colorescience ones for a while, so those might be my next sunscreen purchase :) I'm still on the hunt for a mineral sunscreen that I can wear on it's own that gives more coverage, and those look promising!

Desperate for a nice looking mineral sunscreen. I am mixed race, Caucasian & Asian (Japanese). I started having Rosacea about a year and a half ago. The worst of my flares have been in the past year, and my biggest triggers are stress. sunlight, and wind. I’ve tried everything. Spent at least $1,000, in total. Crazy enough, the best I’ve found (for my skin) so far is Nuetrogena Pure Zinc, mixed with the mineral sunscreen Paula’s Choice makes (light blue tube). On its own, the Paula’s Choice would be too yellow and too dark. On its own, the Neutrogena is too cast-y and very drying.
The two dermatologists I’ve seen both say it’s perfectly fine to mix the products, but I don’t have a lot of confidence (or trust) in what the say. Finding a great dermatologist, where I live, appears to be as difficult as finding a sunscreen I look forward to putting on every day. 😂
I may try the Kinmade Self Reflect sunscreen, despite it containing extracts of vanilla for fragrance. Reluctant, as vanilla often appears on the No-No List for Rosacea sufferers.
It’s 2023. Why are manufacturers still adding fragrance (natural or artificial)?

I’ve started using sunscreen several times per day. It’s just a cheap Walmart brand. It’s starting to make my break out in acne, any tips on which sunscreens cause or don’t cause acne?

Anything can cause that. It might be the fragrance breaking you out. You could try something more gentle without fragrance, like Cetaphil or CeraVe? Differin has a nice one too.

Perhaps it's too heavy for you and opting for more lightweight/fluid formulas would work better. Or you might not be removing it properly at the end of the day, are you double cleansing?

Hello, Thank you for this video. I've been using La Roche Posay Anthelios Oil Correct for a while but trying to find other options. I found the Allies of Skin - The One SPF 50 Invisible Sunscreen Gel option that seems to be a good option under makeup and people say it's so good for sensitive skin, it does not sting at all.
Did you ever try it or know about it?
Thank you so much! I love your videos ❤
